Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

For rope drop (early entry) at HS or EPCOT, I was thinking that it might give us a slight advantage to walk over to Caribbean Beach rather than wait in line for the Skyliner to start running at POP.

Has anyone tried that before?

The line for Skyliner moves very fast. We were at AoA last June. On our EE DHS morning I wanted to be at the Skyliner by 6:40 a.m. (for an 8:00 EE). My husband and kids (all adults) did not share in my urgency and we were running late. We didn't get out to the station until about 6:55 and the line was wrapped back to Bldg. 3 of Pop Century. I *think* we boarded Skyliner at about 7:05. Looking at the time stamps on my pictures, we were already through CBR and in flight over the parking lot at DHS by 7:16 a.m.; through security and standing in line at the tap styles at 7:22 a.m.; and arriving at ToT at 7:44 a.m. (we weren't rushing at all once we had tapped in which happened at about 7:40). Even if it was possible to walk to CBR, I wouldn't waste my time walking over there to try and beat the rush. If anything, I'd just get in line earlier at Pop/AoA to allow for a little wait at CBR. Based on my pictures, we couldn't have had more than a 2 or 3 minute "layover" at CBR that morning.

Thanks!

We are early risers so we plan on being in line for the Skyliner as early as required to try to get as close to the front of the crowd for early entry. I was thinking starting at Pop would put us behind the guests from CBR/Riviera who would be arriving at HS by the time we are just getting to CBR station.

While looking at google earth I spotted a couple of ways to walk over, but I expect one of those routes would be using employee pathways only. There are other ways as well, but as noted above by WEDWDW, there are no guest walkways to use, so walking is not likely an option anyway.

Oh well, with the CBR station not that far of a walk, I thought it might be a bit of an advantage to start from there when the Skyliner starts for the day. But I guess it's not really an option.

Thanks!

often the first pop people are put quickly into the CBR skyliner without having to get behind the people at CBR. This has happened for us but if it doesn't the line moves so quickly that it really does not really matter.

It has never worked for me. Though on the last trip I did get a few restaurant texts.

We have the same issue every time. No Text, no Mail and no update on the MDE until we arrive at the check-in and the CM gave us our room informations. We are arriving later in the evening because coming from europe, so it isn't a matter of the time. Not a problem, but unfortunately of course.

I understand waiting for your boss to approve, but I have also adopted (a bit) the idea that PTO is "Prepare the others because I won't be here". One of my best friends is getting married at Disney in April (right before my birthday so I get to spend my ACTUAL birthday in the parks this year.) Of course, it is tech week for our last show. But I told my boss "Gotta go. I'll get my grad student to cover for me but I won't be here." And they were very understanding. This is the first time IN MY LIFE I approached it as "I won't be here" rather than "would it be ok if I were gone." It only took my 52 years to understand that it is ok to take time off. I really hope your PTO comes through!!!

My current manager is much better about approving PTO requests quickly (Nov PTO was approved yesterday) than a previous one (who wouldn't approve it officially until like a week before, while verbally saying it was ok). I'm in a position where there are only 2 of us working on any particular night, so I try to make sure that we can accommodate each others vacation schedules. Which is why my trip is only a 6-night rather than a 7-night. Their PTO starts the night I get back.

So we just booked our Feb stay - 2 preferred pool rooms. I had to call for help because I could not get the 2nd room to show available to book using one Disney account login. But super helpful CM got us all booked and noted the ressies for connecting rooms. We'll be coming from a 3-night stay at the Portofino at Universal.

We tossed around just preferred rooms because I heard your reviews that it can be loud by the pool. But we figured we're at the older teens/young adults/parents who can sleep through anything stage and a central location is so much easier for DX physically.

240 days!!!

Good move with Preferred Pool Room.

Guaranteed very close proximity to Hippy Dippy Pool,Petal's Pool bar, Everything Pop Shopping and Dining,Disney Skyliner,Bus Depot, etc.

And the 1960s is a FAR OUT section!

Try to find the Hidden Mickey behind Baloo-no cheating!

Thanks!

Your idea certainly makes sense, and would get you in front of the crowd coming from Pop.

But I'm not sure if that extra effort really gets you much advantage. There isn't a huge difference between being 5th through the turnstiles v. 100th. As long as you're towards the front of the rope drop crowd, you're good. It's a trivial difference to have a 5 min wait v. 12 min wait at your first ride.

Since everyone was discussing queuing up for the Skyliner... if you have a wheelchair, is there a separate line? Do you queue up with everyone until you approach the station, then get directed off to a separate section for loading? We rode the Skyliner from DHS to CB just for the experience and grabbed an Uber from there back to Universal last year, but there was no line when we left and a CM escorted us straight to a waiting gondola.

If I am remembering correctly, you go into the regular line and get directed to the separate area that allows for easy loading/off-loading of a wheelchair/esv.

At POP/AOA Skyliner, the line for wheelchairs is thru the exit. A cast member will direct you the way as you approach. As well as the other Skyliner stations, there are separate lines for wheelchairs. It is where the skyliner curves on the track, so the gondola can stop while others pass through.

Personal appliances like kettles, microwaves and toasters are not allowed to be used at Pop Century as they are a fire hazards. Please do not take these with you.
We have taken a kettle to Disney for many years, as we do not drink coffee only tea and housekeeping haven't ever highlighted this to us or told us we cannot use it. Why would that item be more risky than me plugging in my hair straighteners or hairdryer, both of which I bring.

I looked on the first page and didn’t see it so I probably already know what the answer is but… can you roast marshmallows at POP like you can some of the other resorts? If so, where do they do it? I know I saw it a Coronado last time we were there.
Also, if anyone knows, do they do it at the All Stars?

Yes,at Pop Century it is at the area between the 1960s and 1970s where originally there was a Splash pad.Just look for the Goofy
Statue and the sweet Corvette.

And they also do it at the All-Stars.

Awesome! Thank you!
You will just want to check the activities calendar to see when this event is offered. I’m not sure how often they do it. @WEDWDW do you know if it’s offered each day or just select days?
