Disney's Intimate Weddings

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Disney Intimate Weddings. I am thinking of having about 15 people and would like to have it at The Yaught and Beach Club Gazeebo. Do you have to go through Disney and have the wedding coordinator, and all that stuff. I hear people talking about having a wedding at Disney, but not "going through" Disney, since it is less expensive, but I haven't been able to find any info on it. Does anyone know anything about this, or even have some ideas of what would be good to do after the ceremony with such a small group of people?
Thanks,
Kelly

Hi there! It is my understanding that you need to go thru Disney for those locations. However, you can book a Disney wedding thru the Swan and Dolphin and still have Disney charcaters, but it will be onsite at the Swan. The Swan is on Disney property but isn't run by Disney.

There is a Swan and Dolphin FAQ thread you may want to review.

HTH!

Yes, you do have to go through Disney Fairy Tale Weddings if you plan on getting married on Disney property. Now, some people have "gotten away with" holding private ceremonies in their resort rooms, etc...but Disney is adament that they will stop any non-sanctioned ceremony and escort you off the property. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I wouldn't want my wedding day ruined just to try to save a few $$$. DFTW does awesome weddings !!!

Thanks. No, I would never risk doing that. I'm thinking of having it at the boardwalk outside since my family has the DVC, and we love it there, the Polynesian at Sunset Point, or the Yaught & BC Gazeebo. I haven't decided yet.

We are DVC also, and the Boardwalk is my DH's all time fav resort. We stayed there, but had the ceremony at the YC Gazebo. We were torn between the two options, but decided on the Gazebo because I loved how it looked as a backdrop for photos, while most of the photos at SBP seemed to have the Swan and Dolphin figures in the background and that just didn't appeal to me. That and we got married 8/1 and the gazebo has a ceiling fan to move some air around ! Either location is beautiful !

When are you planning to get married ? Sunset point is not an option during the summer months due to the heat and lack of shade. We loved that location as well. But wouldn't work in August !

I am not exactly sure on dates yet, we're just weighing all our options, but definitely know we want a disney wedding. I wouldn't want it in the summer, b/c of all the crowds, and the heat. I think I like the gazebo better, too b/c of the pics, and also it seems more private, rather than in the center of everyone at the boardwalk.

When I had my DFW it was called an intimate wedding. Anyway, it was amazing and I'm sure just as lovely as the ones costing much more. We were married in 2005 and back then the $4k cost included the hotel stay.... that is no longer the case, but it appears that they now offer many more options.

There's a website with more detail at: Disney Weddings Website.

You do have to use Disney in order to have it at the locations your post mentioned. Believe me, they are incredible and the planning is quite fun! Everything comes together so nicely, no flaws and is worth every penny!

Good Luck!
