Wow! I was surprised to hear that Disneyland hit capacity today, although not DCA. I guess Dapper Day, along with the 60th stuff and Halloween stuff all caused some major crowds! All that and heat, too. I hope all you Dapper Dis'ers had a good time, and managed the heat okay. I'd love to hear some in park experiences from the day.

What time was capacity reached?
Did they actually restrict entry?

I saw that it hit capacity too. So unusual for this time of year. I saw some crazy pics of the lines on facebook

I was in Disneyland from 8-4 and while it seemed busy it did not seem crazy busy, but that's still before everyone got off of work. My sister left DCA at 630 and said they announced in the trams that DL was at capacity. When I finally was ready to leave DCA (at 850...terrible timing) I still had to grab my stuff from Main Street locker but they gates were open and I had less than a 10 minute wait to get in. Main Street looked crowded but not capacity levels...

I bet the nighttime entertainment tonight was nutty. It was busy enough during the summer...

Wow! It definitely seemed to be getting more crowded on Wednesday when we were there (we were there last thurs/fri and mon-we'd this week.) I heard on Wednesday California Adventure was at 82% or something like that. So glad we decided to go at the end of last week instead of the end of this week! It may have been really hot, but at least there were low crowds! (I don't do well with crowds.)

I bet everyone went to see the Halloween stuff.

Everybody thought that they'd beat the crowds by visiting the second weekend of Halloweentime, instead of the first. As a result of so many people trying to avoid the crowds, Disneyland reached capacity! :rotfl2:

I've been at Disneyland on one of those random capacity days that's totally unexpected before. Not fun if you aren't already in the parks. This is a very odd time of year, but I'm not surprised. I'm just hoping we can avoid any of those next month when we're there with family from out of town.

We didn't notice the crowds until about 6. Big thunder and Splash were down at the same time which left lots of people milling around. We had Fantasmic Blue Bayou viewing and luckily we lined up early because they didn't have enough viewing area left for those that turned up at the recommended 8.30 line up time. They had to expand the area. The Fantasmic line area was chaos. It took them awhile to organise traffic control and it was just throngs of people everywhere. It was amazing though. The meal and show were just incredible. I'm so glad we got dressed up for Dapper Day, we had a ball.

I was in both parks yesterday and it felt really busy, but not capacity busy. We hopped with ease, but man o man, it felt hottttttt!!! Especially with a petticoat, I felt like I was melting into the pavement and my feet are just just blistered stumps, no more dapper shoes for me.

When DL hits capacity, are you allowed to re-enter if you hop over to CA for a bit?

Sometimes, Disneyland usually has several levels of closing. When gates close to new entries, usually you can re enter if you have a hand stamp or are a hotel guest. If the crowd continues to grow, eventually it closes to everyone entering.

I know capacity was full at around 7PM yesterday. It normally takes me 10 minutes to get from my cousins house to the parking structure, last night it took 45 minutes!!

After watching the AE experience on Walt Disney, I was thinking it's about time to revisit DL but when I see something like this, it scares me off a bit.

It was a Friday night and it was Dapper Day so it's not a normal occurrence this time of year

As PPs mentioned, Friday Night (which is always a busy time in general especially with So Cal AP blockouts lifted) combined with Dapper Day combined with it being the last Friday night for over a month that the park will be open normal evening hours due to MHP was a perfect storm. DCA wasn't nearly as bad on Friday though. Yesterday the parks weren't that bad either.

Great! Thanks to you both! Don't really know what Dapper Day is so I'll have to do some homework while planning as I haven't been to DL since the 1980s.
