Disney24: 2 Siblings, 4 Days & the 24 Hour Day! Updatedx2 8/3

Visiting the Forte without the rest of the travel bunch must have been strange and a little sad. :( Hopefully your next trip will be more family packed. I really want to experience the Wishes from the Poly or the Contempo. Sorry you had troubles with your luggage and room access. Score on the Disney goodies waiting in your room. That would have made me super happy!:teeth:

WELCOME! I have a Canon EOS REBEL T2i and just before this trip me and my pa invested in a new lens, a tamron 16-270, which pretty much combines the 2 lenses together that came with the camera and it just makes taking photos so much more easier.

Oh nice! I bought a Nikon D3100 about 2 years ago and I have yet to invest in a lens...probably because I'm cheap :sad2: And I LOVE the happy camper shirt! I was going back and forth about buying it when it came out, but again, cheap. I really regret not getting it

At least getting locked in your room is a new experience at Disney! Check that one off the list. And the campfire looks like so much fun. I need to make time to get over there one trip. Who doesn't like smores and hanging out with Chip and Dale?!

Sorry about your luggage! I couldn't imagine trying to keep calm in that situation. Sometimes you just can't help being rude.

I just got back from WDW. I went to DTD on a Sunday night and wow, was it packed! I was trying to take in all the changes and it was quite hard with wall to wall people when I was there. I think next time we do go back to DTD, we'll try the morning instead of the evening/nighttime.

Sorry about the luggage and door issues. Glad it got sorted out!

The Campfire looks so fun! Crazy for the price they want if you decide to S'mores??

How nice to receive that gift for your troubles! :thumbsup2

After having read the TRs that you and Alicia have written and seeing your pictures on Instagram, it really seems so odd for you to be in certain spots without each other like that Fort Wilderness sign! I'm glad that you still have Kiss to travel with even if he doesn't understand how important it is to put on all the hats at the new stores! It must be something special being able to see all the changes that are occurring at DTD. When I was there in April, I was just so confused because I didn't know that they got rid of the parking, so we had to loop around all the way back to the garage after driving to Marketplace!

And of course, YUMMMMMMMMMMM to Sanaa! When people mentioned how much longer it takes to get to AKL compared to other hotels, I was thinking that we'd eat at Sanaa and Boma during our Disneymoon just because we were staying there and probably wouldn't deal with the travel time in the future. But after that first meal, we were hooked, as you already know! Sometimes I wish that they would give more of the naan, onion kulcha, or papadum the same way that Italian restaurants are so free with offering to refill the bread basket. But then again, if that were the case, I probably would never get to the entree!

What an exhausting day!! So sorry about all the luggage issues...that campfire looks like a lot of fun though!! I'm sure the real 24 hour event is different than travel day/Disney...luggage issues exhaustion!!

I love the campfire. A little spoiler alert the real 24 hour event was a lot more different

What a fun day! So sorry about all your troubles, especially your luggage. Hopefully you get enough sleep to do the 24 hour event.

Any day at Disney is fun even with luggage troubles!

It's not the same but it's still nice. I think staying there would be strange without the whole gang.
It has been on my list for forever and I have still never done it. So maybe one day.
I was super excited about the free goodies!

I was so excited that they came out with fort limited shirts that I didn't even care how poor i was so I bought both the happy camper and hoop dee doo. But I was however the cheap person when the maelstrom shirt was the limited time shirt and I regret not buying that.

DTD gets really busy during the night, it's pretty much dead in the morning. Plus they add all the night time entertainment now which draws in major crowds and rode blocks.
The campfire is a blast! And I will never understand why people pay the crazy price but they do

I will have to agree. I have only been to Disney once without her before this trip and its just not the same. I was so excited about DTD, I never thought in my entire life I could love that place as much as I do. Oh no! yeah they got rid of it at the very end of my program during the holidays to start making the marketplace parking garage.
I actually believe when I first suggested going to Sanaa our very first time Alish brought up how much you enjoyed it. But it is so good and so worth the traveling. We couldn't even finish our naan this time but I'm pretty sure I could just make a meal out of that.

What Else Could Possibly Go Wrong?!

Today was a day dedicated to soaking up the Florida sun while playing around in the waves. Off to Typhoon Lagoon we go! We left the room a little after 9:30 and got to typhoon a little after 10. Alish gave us tickets for the water parks before she left for Japan and clearly this trip was a perfect time to use them.

Just Kidding! Alish didn’t tell us that she had already used them so although it was almost midnight in Japan you best believe I sent her a nice text message. She swears she had no idea that she even left us water park tickets. But they were left with the cm complimentary tickets we were also using this trip. So another fail goes into what seems like the worst trip to Disney. (After this I don’t think anyone should go to disney with me. Also at the moment I knew kiss would never agree to another spontaneous trip with me again.)

Our whole day was shot and we had to decide what we wanted to do. Our choices were limited, pretty much lay by the pool or resort hop. However after sitting at the bus stop waiting for a bus that was never coming we decided to just pay the money to get in for the day. Actually kiss decided to buy the tickets because he wanted to go and I was paying for everything else on the trip.

Our moods changed instantly and I couldn't wait for the morning ahead of us. I love typhoon! I personally prefer it more than blizzard beach.

Water parks are much more fun when you have a water camera. This trip I brought a water proof pouch to put my phone in. At first it terrified me but as long as I didn’t fully emerge it underwater we were safe.

18742011856_1b914f0dc7.jpg

We spent most of our time in the wave pool. But had to make a quick stop at the lazy river.

Welcome to the Lazy river where you can’t really be lazy because you will crash into a few hundred random strangers. Its like free entertainment watching families try to stay together and then panic while they break apart. Me I’m just like meet you back at the beginning if we split up. But normally that doesn’t happen because we have the whole, connecting our tubes together, on point.

Since we were at the front we decided to jump in line for the crush and gusher, but when we got there it was down. We probably waited 4 minutes and it was back up and running.

18763340032_27f023f9ef.jpg

after a quick ride on crush and gusher it was time to spend the rest of our time in the wave pool. For some reason we thought swimming all the way out would be fun. Its nice because only a few people venture out all the way so there is less people. But it takes a lot out of a short person who still can’t touch the bottom after the wave brings you closer to shore.

This is what trying to tan and have fun looks like

We stayed till about 1 because we had some other things to get to tonight

18770781451_0243f21072.jpg

On our way out stitch was just hanging out with no line. So clearly I had to meet stitch.

18580560840_384c6f8b07.jpg

Then one last thing I had to do before I left was be a sassy jasmine, but clearly I didn’t have quite the amount of sassy Alicia had as a child.

Bye Typhoon it’s been fun!

As we were heading back to movies on our motor coach the skies opened and it poured for a good few minutes. Clearly we left at the perfect time.

I love your bathing suit!! Adorable!! Too bad you had to pay for it but...looks like a fun day nonetheless. I love that wave pool...so much fun.

Looks like you guys had fun at TL!! Love the throwback pic…so cute!! :flower:

I am so Disney homesick right now!!! No trip for me this year...uggghh! However, I'm glad you two got to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon; another to do on my list.
Quick photography question...Do you shoot raw or jpeg? Were your pics from TL all from your phone or phone and Canon?

Loving your TR so far! I'm trying to convince my husband that we should spend a day at Typhoon Lagoon, but he's not buying it. We don't have kids and we live in Wisconsin so we have Noah's Ark... which is totally awesome, but sucks as far as theming compared to Disney's water parks!! Did you get any food while there?? Any good? :)

Looking forward to reading more!

I'm late jumping in but so happy to have found your report. My son is starting his CP midAugust and I've been sharing some of your CP experiences with him.
So glad you were able to return and I fully sympathize with your "we are too poor for parks" statement. I'll be driving down with DS to get him settled for his program and will not be able to go to any parks while there. We can't justify buying park tickets, when DS can just wait a few days and get his main gate pass. I will have to entertain myself by resort hopping and hanging at DTD. I already hear MK calling my name but am trying to harden my heart so it won't break when I have to bypass the gates.
Thank God for the DIS so I can get my fix from others!

Love reading about the adventures of Sam and Kiss! Sorry for the luggage troubles and the key stuck in the door! I bet it was quite the surprise to see the gift in your room! I was happy reading about you going "home" to DTD! Your day at Typhoon Lagoon looked really fun and your swimsuit is so cute. Can't wait to read more!

I totally understand the whole homesick feeling, basically me 24/7 when I'm not there.
I shoot jpeg and all my TL were from my iphone

It's nice to go to the water parks, I don't go every trip but when I do I always have fun. I didn't get food this time around but it's pretty much the same quick service food as everywhere else.

That is so exciting! What role did he get?
That was my families problem when I went down for my CP. We were just lucky enough for Alicia to have main gate passes for my family. But I personally think that there is so much to do outside of the parks but I also understand that want to go to MK.

Love the bathing suit!

Thank You!!

It wasn't the best moment but the gifts made it a little better.

The Backside of Water!

Once we got back to the resort we grabbed a quick lunch at the newly redone food court.

18807128559_32af9e47c3.jpg

It didn’t turn out to be quick because there were so many options to choose from and I can’t make decisions to save my life. So after going back and forth between what I wanted I finally settled on chicken alfredo and kiss got the nachos.
We ended up taking our food back to the room so we could get ready and eat, multitasking at its finest.

By the time I finished blow drying my hair kiss was already done with his nachos. No! I didn’t get a food pic!

I ended up putting Stacy on (why I would ever put myself through that who knows) and enjoyed my pasta.
Around 2:30 it was time to get going. So we headed to the bus stop to catch a bus to mk. From there we hopped on a boat to poly because it was a Trader Sam’s kind of night.

18967091176_506a27e294.jpg

With all the hype on twitter and instagram I was pretty excited to experience Trader Sam’s for myself. Since kiss is not yet 21 we had to go before 8 and from what I heard it could be a 1-2 hour wait to get in. They do however have an outside bar that serves the same specialty drinks and has entertainment; it just isn’t the same experience. So our plan was to be there early before it opened. We arrived probably a little before 3:30 and doors open at 4.

To my surprise we were the 2nd group, I had a feeling that it was going to be a longer line. A short little line was forming inside when one of the skippers came out and told us to start the line outside. So a half-hour of us waiting outside in Florida prime heat time.

18805635340_48f8634c70.jpg

18993327005_b215df4792.jpg

During our wait I listen to a group of older ladies who are Disney obsessed! They were talking about all there times at Disneyland’s trader sam’s and all the mugs they have collected from there. Then made a list of drinks they were going to buy that day to add to the collection. They also were talking about how excited they were to plan a group trip for the 24 hour event. Like can I join your crew? I know I’m a little younger than you all but I can bring a lot of fun into the group!

I want to say 15 minutes before the doors open, Skipper Erica (aka instagram famous skipper, hashtag her name and you’ll find her) came out and gave the first 50 (?) people a special stamp. Those who did not make it as a lucky one would have to wait longer with a buzzer to enter. But like I was number 4 so I was safe.

At 4 we were all escorted in and the manager checked our stamped octopus arm. If you are the first wave of people the door opens and you can seat wherever you want. So while everyone was scrambling to find a seat I was just taken back at our small it really was. Then I began to panic because I had no clue where to sit, Kiss was making any decisions and I don’t know how to make decisions. So I just plopped a squat in the back corner. Then a lady came up and asked if she could sit across from us with her daughter and her grandbaby…like yes you have a baby, I love babies.

After sitting down I found out that I chose the seat with one of the last saved items from the Maelstrom…fate?! I think so.

18987896302_b977437511.jpg

Number 1 mistake I had this day was not bringing my camera, so I had to take lame pictures with my phone.

18993281455_e279aa7268.jpg

So what is Trader Sam’s like? I would say the inside has a Tiki room feel with the jungle cruise skipper humor. So pretty much one of the best places ever created.
With each of their special drinks comes some funny humor. The skippers have a rack of props they use and shout out drinks that have been served and do the funniest things.

Along with the skippers acting like fools, they also have special effects for each different drink. The volcano explode for the krakatoa punch and a thunder storm for Uh-Oa!

18807100609_a92c8163ce.jpg

18996354241_0deb646da0.jpg

With all the excitement going on, we still had to order. I ended up going with the shrunken zombie head and kiss got a kid friendly Sam’s no booze brew, Polynesian punch (because he also wanted a special take home cup)

18805658578_be80bc139f.jpg

Please enjoy us modeling our cool drinks

We also got some pot stickers to share

18805615990_be27ea97cb.jpg
[/url]

If you order a glass of water you might just get a flashback to riding the Jungle Cruise. The skipper working at the bar got everyone’s attention and said “Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the 8th wonder of the world (holds a glass of water above his head, turns around) THE BACK SIDE OF WATER!

Another hilarious thing I saw was that some of the bar stools lower by themselves the longer you sit on it. So at the middle table one of the skippers went up to the guy sitting on a shrunken stool and said “Hey little boy would you like a sticker” while handing him one. I’ve also seen them give that person a super long straw as well.

By the end of our time here Kiss asked if we could come celebrate his 21st birthday there. Mostly because he wants to get the nautilus, but if someone asks me to go to Disney I cannot turn it down.

18370739174_f7691a6d2d.jpg

Although I could have stayed in that place forever we decided to leave and give someone waiting, a chance to experience it. But before I left I had to pick up my souvenir cup. You can either purchase the drink or the drink and the cup. I wanted the cool shrunken head, so they box up a brand new one for you and give it to you at the podium as you leave.

Traders Sam's sounds like so much fun!
My son will be doing QSFB and he is hoping not to end up at a cart. He is a big weenie and very much appreciates air conditioning. He is currently trying to find roommates but it seems most guys doing CP just go with the flow and take their chances on roomies.

Loved your recaps about Typhoon Lagoon and Trader Sam's! Those are two places that I've never experienced myself, so I love reading about adventures that aren't just in the 4 parks. Trader Sam's sounds like an entertaining place to just hang out with friends and laugh. I didn't realize that there were so many interactive elements and joking CMs!

It's one of my new favorite things at Disney.
I've heard if you have trouble in the heat you can just talked to one of you coordinators or leaders and they will switch you too something inside. One of the biggest struggles is finding roommates, maybe going in without choosing is good. The 2 girls I found, 1 self termed and the other brought bed bugs.

Trader Sam's is hilarious and I wish it opened during my CP.

Following along. Really miss the yolo crew.

Welcome!

I wish I brought my camera because the pictures could have been so much classier. I feel like it will always be crowded, it is very small. Plus you'll have regulars going and newbies. I definitely suggest getting their earlier and wait 30 minutes rather than hours.
