Disney News Round Up

Disney has announced a hard ticket event that will take place August 23rd at the Hollywood studios. The very popular Unleash The Villains event from limited time magic in 2013 is now going to be a hard ticket event. The official name of the hard ticket event is Villains unleashed. more details are set to come out.

This follows a new hard ticket event in Harambe Nights at AK. The only park without such an event now is Epcot.

I read the brief article on the construction & decided to click the link to the related article because I had never heard of an "Amphicar" :confused3 WOW - I'm glad I read the related story & watched the video!

Not only is it VERY interesting that Steven Schussler is collecting them for "a resort they're doing a world class exhibit for down in Orlando" :scratchin but those things (amphicars) are WAY COOL!!! :car: I hadn't really been following allong too much with the "Disney Springs" development, but THIS actually makes me excited about it!

In case anyone hasn't seen the write-up & video on the Amphicars, go check it out! It's worth a few minutes of your time. ;) Here's the link to it (which I also realize may have been previously posted somewhere, but it was new to me):

Yes if all goes to plan this new area will be very cool.
 
The Disney outfitters store at disneys animal kingdom is expanding. The AK tip board has been removed for this construction guests have been advised to use the MDE app.
 
The Intermission Food Court at Disney's All Star Music Resort will be closing later this summer for a major refurbishment.

Currently scheduled to close on August 1 2014 through to December 20 2014, it is expected that the restaurant will receive an update similar to the one carried out at the All Star Sports Resort End Zone Food Court last year.During the refurbishment there will be a temporary grab 'n' go location setup in the Melody Hall lobby arcade area. Offerings will include salads, sandwiches and desserts. Refillable mug stations will also be provided.

The Singing Spirits bar will remain open during the work, and will also provide food options and a refillable mug station. As another alternative, there will also be transportation to Disney's All Star Sports Resort to make use of the recently refurbished End Zone Food Court.

"Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter will both be taking part in a two-week trial of an innovative new time-saving checkin procedure for guests arriving between Monday 16 June and Saturday 28 June 2014.

To qualify, guests with arrival dates between 16 and 28 June will need to have first created a My Disney Experience account, and already received their Magic Bands at home (meaning that this test will only be available to domestic US residents). The guests will also need to have completed Online Checkin, and paid in full prior to arrival - including setting up a PIN number for their account. Basically, everything you would normally do while standing at the Front Desk needs to have been completed in advance.

Any guests who meet these requirements will automatically receive a notification email a few days prior to arrival to make them aware of the test, and then an hour or so before their stated arrival time they will get a further text message and/or email indicating their assigned room number. They are then free to proceed directly to their room without any need to first call at the Front Desk."

The marketplace co-op at DTD has officially opened to the public. The store features multiple small boutiques that feature special items. D-tech on demand is a store for special d-tech items and you can customize your own. Cherry tree lane is a place for hand bags and women's accessories. This is located where team Mickey used to be. There is also a Disney sports boutique as well.

Tickets are now on sale for the new hard ticket villains unleashed event at Disney's Hollywood studios.

You can visit the Disney website at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events/villains-unleashed/purchase/ to order online. Pricing is $67 for adults, and $62 for children plus tax.

Lunchtime dining at Tusker House has been extended, and is now available from 11am to 3:30pm.

The table service restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom originally seated lunch from 11am to 2:45pm. As before, Tusker House will continue to offer character dining for breakfast and lunch, and no characters at dinner.

Breakfast is served from 8am to 10:55am, lunch 11am to 3:30pm, dinner from 4:40pm to park close. On Saturdays during Harambe Nights performances this summer, lunch will be extended to 4:30pm, with no dinner service available.

Trucks on the Town is coming to DTD on June 21st. From 5pm to 10pm, and will feature 14 food trucks. The Daily City has published a list of the trucks attending the event.

The Yankee Trader in Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom is scheduled to be closing for refurbishment from July 7 to September 30 2014.

It is expected that the store will be transformed into a new Haunted Mansion gift shop, that will feature an on-ride photo pickup location, along with a range of Haunted Mansion merchandise.

The new Haunted Mansion on-ride photo opportunity is speculated to take place in the hitch-hiking ghost scene.

It's being reported that disney will hold Anna and Elsa's royal coronation to become official disney princesses in the magic kingdom on September 24th no word on time.
