Disney has hired Star Wars alum Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg as potential writers for subsequent installments" of the Star Wars film franchise.
The force is strong with writers Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg. Thats the word on the street, anyway.
After Disney hired Michael Arndt to write the next installment of George Lucas Star Wars franchise, the company has hired Star Wars alum Kasdan and Kinberg as potential writers for subsequent installments mapped out by Lucas, according to The Hollywood Reporter, L.A. Biz reports.
The pair will produce the films with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and will write either Episode 8 or Episode 9, but it has yet to be determined how their responsibilities will be divided.
On Oct. 30, Disney acquired San Francisco-based Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion. In addition to the new movies, Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Co., said the franchise will have a presence in Disney theme parks, potentially having a big impact for Orlando.
