Has anyone had any experience with the Disney Dance Workshops? My daughter's dance team is partisipating in March in the Disney Dancin' — Young Performer Edition Workshop.
I would love some input and any pictures you are willing to share.
Thanks, Staci

My 10 yo daughter did that last year with a team from her dance studio. They go every 2/3 years. We went in the late April/early May. What information were you looking for in particular?

She had so much fun:)

Maybe just what to expect... I am such a planner and I hate not knowing what is in store for them! All I know is that we (parents) take them to the designated pick up and then the teachers and cast members take it from there. DId you get any video or pictures from the workshop? We are also performing our competition dances at one of the parks. We don't know which one yet, but I am betting on DTD. Has your daughter's studio done this also? No matter what, we know this is such a great expierence for the kids and we can't wait!

Yes, we also danced at DTD, on the waterfront stage (well, not we, she LOL)

Our itinerary was as follows: we got there Thursday but everyone HAD to arrive by Friday night. Saturday morning we all met at Epcot early before park opening. We were escorted to the World Showcase where the girls were then met by Disney staff and taken to the studio. According to dd they split them up into groups (by age) and essentially presented a class. Goofy came in and surprised them. We didn't have any pictures unfortunately. That would have been a nice touch. The rest of the day the girls were free to explore the parks on their own with their families.

On Sunday the girls had their performance on the DTD stage. Quite the crowd gathered. I videotaped the performance myself. We had professional pictures of the whole group taken at the resort before we left that morning.

Sunday night we had a special dinner and dance party at a venue in Hollywood Studios. It was wild!

I of course don't know how closely you're experience will mirror ours. Regardless, I am sure you'll both have a blast:)

I think this is what my niece is doing this June. Her dance studio is taking a group June 23-25. From what my sister has said, the pick-up point is one of the All-Star resorts. The bus will take the girls, teacher, and my sister (she's an RN) who is acting as the groups nurse since several of the kids have severe allergies and require Epi pens. They have a late day practice the first day, practice and perform the 2nd day, then perform again the 3rd day. The description of the costumes sounds like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, checked outfit and red shoes. One performance is a parade on Main St, the other is in HS, but I don't know where. There was also some kind of dinner on the 4th day but my sister opted out of that. From what she was told, my sister will have to meet the bus at the All-Stars each day. She's not staying there, but they said they HAVE to ride the bus, they won't be able to meet the group at the backstage area of the parks. This is the ONLY reason my family is vacationing in June!

Oh, and my sister's only complaint is over tickets. The girls get a 3 day hopper with the dance package. She says the tickets can't be upgraded or saved for a future visit. We're staying for 8 days, so she now has to buy a 5 day ticket, when it would have been cheaper over-all for her to just purchase an 8 day ticket.

Our plans sound about the same as Pacrosby's trip. We will arrive on Sat. March 12 (we are going on the 9th). On Sunday we have the dance workshop. I do hope one of the teachers will remember to take some pictures! I may have to tie my camera around one of their necks! Then Monday we will perform our dances somewhere. We will have a dinner party then Illuminations another night. Other than that we are on our own to play.
Our package is 4 nights at the PO Riverside and a 5 day park hopper. We are allowed to up our passes to 8 days.

I assume the performance day will be taken up by getting the girls hair/make-up done and then sent off to the performance venue. After, I'm sure we will go back to the room and undo everything (I bet some parents don't mind their cute little girls to run around the parks with all that stage make-up, but not me! GROSS) and then head back out again. I am guessing at least a 4 hour process.

The parade sounds so fun, but it doesn't sound like the same thing we are doing. Either way, the girls will love it!

We packed facial cleansing cloths with us so we could just wash her face. Their hair was just in a bun so there was no need to undo that. The costumes were easily accomodated in the bottom of my bag. Just something to think about if you want to maximize time in the park. Of course you are going to to be there for a number of days so there may be no need to cram things in. An opportunity to go back and change and catch a bite to eat before heading out to the park might be nice.

Some girls on our trip flew in on Friday night and then back home on Monday morning. A lot of money for such a short trip. We extended ours on both ends so we could have more fun time.

Anyway have a great trip!! Gotta love a dancer:)
