Waiting on a Worldwide Passport collection trade for next summer but not hopeful of success, if we don't get anything, I was going to bank the points for a cruise in August 2006.

Questions are:

Whats the earliest I can book the cruise, is it the 7 month window?

What are they like? Is there any better than others?

Whats included? Food etc, or is it all chicken dippers?

Many Thanks for anyone who can help.

Hi,
You can book a cruise on points from 11 months to 14 days.
We did this a couple a years ago on a 7 night Eastern cruise.
I guess it depends how many points you want to spend and what places you want to vist as to which one you choose.
The food was absolutely incredible and was available when ever you wanted it aswell as the main evening meal.
We have booked to go on the 10 night Xmas cruise but have paid cash for this as we thought the point cost was just too high. Some DVC members do suggest renting your points and using the cash to book your cruise but I guess it's just a question of what you feel most comfortable with.
Feel free to ask any other questions.

Mick.

I could say they are like WDW in the ocean. If you have kids, they will love it and you will love dropping your kids at deck 5 and having a time all for yourself (unless they beep you). Do run your numbers, IMHO about a 4 days cruise you can do with points without regrets, anything after that could be better paying with cash, consider the currency exchange, cash is somewhat easy to recover, points are not, and of course feeling yourself confortable with your decision is what matter most. We have enjoyed 2 cruises with Disney so far and I am looking forward to book a 10-days cruise.

Forget the World Passport Collection and do the Cruise !
My Wife and I did the 4 day two years ago with our son who was nearly five at the time.
Food was of the standard of the finest Disney Restaurant. Entertainment was as expected of Disney.
The only thing we did wrong was that I dropped off my Wife & Son with the luggage at the entrance to check in and then went to park the car. being English I didn't expect to have to pay up front to park and my cash and credit cards were in my wifes handbag. Even then the staff radioed ahead, found my wife and escorted me back!

My vote goes for the Disney Cruise too - whether it be using points directly or renting points to someone else and using the cash, whatever suits you best personally (and what 'sits' better with you too as not everyone is comfy with renting points).

Love those cruises - I've done two 4 day Wonder cruises (including the special DVC member cruise) and the 7 day Eastern.

The food is simply wonderful and included in the price (and yes, that includes room service too!) and is certainly more than chicken dippers ;)

Soda is also included in the price, but alcoholic/speciality drinks (such as smoothies) are extra. You also have to factor in the cost of tips for your waitstaff/stateroom host which are extra but are so justified as the DCL staff are all so fantastic too and earn every penny!

We have been on both the Disney Wonder and Carnival Fantasy and though Carnival was good the Disney cruise is excellent, the entertainment on DCL outstriped Carnival by miles, rotation of restaurants each night also meant a change of scenery and not the same boring walls every night. You also get the beauty of visiting more than one destination which beats any trip to one of the World Passport destinations as you are not stuck there and Castaway Cay is paradise.
