can anyone give some tips on using the club card. Disney only gave us $7 off our entire hotel charge. That's 7 not 70. I am beginning to think it was waste of money.

I want to get people's opinion also. I just got mine hoping I could get really good deals on my 2002 stay at WL. The pamphlet that came with my card today seemed like it was so restrictive. I am kinda flexible, but it looks like the only time to get the 20% off at WL is Aug-Sept(isn't that Hurricaine season?)

Advice on using my discount is helpfull.

Well, it is pretty restricted when making hotel reservations. Hopefully, someone can explain how to get a better deal for that. We're going in May and did not get a discount but we did get $50 free disney dollars since we used our DC card. We're staying at the ASMusic.

I use the card for meals and souvineers at "The World of Disney" in downtown disney. For me that is worth the $30 a year. And I also shop at the Disney store a lot and I get 10% off every purchase and it adds up to a lot of savings.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Just wanted to add my two cents worth . . .We've been a member since 1998, when we could get the card through our work. My card will expire the end of this year and if we renew, it's going to cost me $29.95. We feel its worth the money. It has always given us discounts on our park hopper passes and some souveniers. However, we've traveled in April 99 and April 00 and have never received a resort discount because those dates were blocked and also because it was "peak" season. This year we will be going in December and we got a AWESOME discount for the Contemporary Tower, 11th Floor, MK view. By using my card, I got a discount of $500.00 off my hotel for that week. My hotel would of cost $2485.00 for the week, now with the discount it is costing $1985.00. I was sooooooo happy, I thought I won the lottery! LOL Hopefully when just DH and I return in Oct 02 for our 15th Wedding Anniversary (4 days ALONE) we'll get another great discount, because after that, we will be back to April vacations and probably no discounts :( Whatever you decide, it does save $$ on the passes (10%) and you never know when a discounted ressie will pop up . .All I did was ask . . .

I paid to become a Disney Club member with the intent that I would save money on our trip in March. I did not know that you only got discounts during off peak times. I am sure I will save money buying things at the Disney Store, but overall I am disappointed with the Magic Kingdom Club.

I didn't get a discount on the room because when I booked they were all gone but I did go back and got a rent a car and I did get a discount on that part of my package. I saved almost $100 so I guess my card already paid for itself. Michelle :D

We are going in June and I first booked thru the regular way. But then I read on these boards how much the disney club can save you. I joined the club and although I did not get a break on my room or anything I did get $75 in disney dollars on each room we booked. We booked 4 rooms so I got a total of $300.00 return on my $40.00 membership fee.

For me this was definately worth it! I mean I'm going anyway, right! ;)

I paid the money and unfortunately I am not sure if it was such a great deal. It basically duplicates the discounts I get with my Annual Pass. As far as hotel discounts, who needs them when you have Priceline giving out the Wyndham Palace in DD for 35 dollars. I will be going Saturday and I have yet to determine how much I will save on my AP renewal (two adults), perhaps that will pay for the membership and I won't just have a cute card that costs 29.99.

How did you get 75 disney dollars for each room you booked?

I am currently in a disagreement with D.C. I bought a member ship also thinking it would save me money. I then find out that the time period I can go is not included. I booked a stay in May in a moderate with no discount. I received an e-mail from D.C. yesterday advertising Special Introductory Rate for D.C. members at A.K. lodge, regular savannah view, from as low as $155 a night with basic plan. I call the 800 D.C. number and tell C.M. I would like to look into switching from the moderate to A.K. with this offer. She tells me there are no such rooms as regular Savannah view, only regular, waterview and Savannah view. I tell her about the e-mail and also it is posted as a offer on the D.C. websight. No I am told its not possible. I am also informed I could not convert my Discovery Magic package over since the offer is for Basic plan only. What is the diffrence, Disney is getting more money from me with the Discovery magic anyways! Then today I see on these very Boards the same Advertisment!! I got no where with her- Disney offered me $75 disney dollars a week ago when I called and complained about no discount, but not up front. I sent a e-mail to D.C. guest services today asking for an explaination from someone of authority. Sorry for venting, I am very frustrated with D.C. so they are not on my good list right now- Pat

I also am very disappointed with DC

how people got $50 & $75 Disney Dollars per each room booked. I joined the club & heard nothing of this. I'm not all that impressed with the card either & they are very vague with explaining the benefits until AFTER you join. It's a bit of a scam :(

I am truely disappointed. I had been getting the MKC for free for so many years, then to be told I had to pay $29.99, which I did. And the only discount I have been able to get is %10 off at the store, and I got %15 off at tinkerbells shop next to Small World at Disneyland. Other then that, my anual pass has given me more of a discount. I would have to spend over $50.00 to get a discount at some of the stores at disneyland.

As I get to the point. I feel ripped off. And will not buy a "collectors card" (as they put it) ever again.

And I booked my WDW world Vacation (by the way that is in 74 more days) through a travel agent and got a great vacation for 5!!

Unless you shop at the Disney store ALL THE TIME. I dont think its been worth it!!At least not for $29.99, for all the money I put into the Disney Corp (stocks included) I feel I should get the card for free...!!!!

I agree that the benefits of the card have gone down in the past two years but I still think I'm getting my money's worth. At only $29.95 for a year membership, I think it's very easy to make up for that money pretty quickly. We're going to the ASMusic in May and received $50 free disney dollars and I go to the disney store about once a month and shop at disneystore.com. These things, in my eyes, have compensated for the $30 membership fee.

Although, I do know if I had an AP, I probably wouldn't want the DC because the discounts aren't great enough.

I am assuming they are all discontinued.
but, hopefully I am wrong. I thought originally that I could use it at the Hoop Dee Doo - but the CM said no. Thanks for any help - - -

There are none in the parts. Only a few in Dowtown Disney. The CM at the DC woul not even advise as to which restaurants participated as they stated that the list changed often.

Also, the only stores that accept the card are in Downtown disney....

Is Planet Hollywood included? What else is there? Isn't there a seafood place also?

thanks,
Jon

I also used to get the card for free from work and know I paid $29.95 for it and booked the Poly for early Dec. and received a discount on the room and passes and was told I would receive $50.00 Disney dollars upon check in.

I believe that if I was not going to Disney I would not purchase it.
This is our 4 trip and the card only saved me money this time.

Planet Hollywood is included in the discounts for the DC card along with the Rainforest Cafe in the Animal Kingdom & DD, House of Blues in DD, Fulton's Crab House in DD. Those are the only places that I know of.
