So I see restaurants close at 10PM but wondering is there any issue with having an ADR at 9:30-10PM? Or do the staff get a little upset with this possibly?

I know when I used to work at a restaurant a 11PM close meant you really didn't want to seat anyone after 10:30PM.

Comments? This would be on the boardwalk at Kouzinna as we are staying at BWV and the first night will be doing illuminations after getting in at like 6PM.

I wouldn't do it, you will probably be rushed, the wait staff will be more tired etc. But that is just me...

The only time that we have had a late dinner (park closing at 8pm, reservation at 7:30) was at 50's Prime Time it was the worst experience that we ever had. It was in 2009 and it was so bad that we have not been back. Our server was obviously trying to get us out. There were several other families in the restaurant that experienced the same thing and we were all talking about it with each other. They were cleaning, sweeping all around us and the food was horrible. 50's went from one of our favorite places to dine to one that I have no desire to return to. With that being said, we have not made a "late-park closing" reservation since then to hopefully avoid any chance of another horrible experience.

We once had one of the latest reservations at Tusker House. By the time we finished, the park was closed and nearly empty. We were graciously escorted out by a CM. This surprised but didn't offend me. I guess they wanted to make sure we didn't hide behind the Tree of Life and spend the night! :rolleyes1

I've never had a late ADR within a park but I have had close to closing time ADRs at 'Ohana and California Grill and we've never had service or felt rushed in any way. The food was still hot and fresh.

We changed our Flying Fish ADR to 9:30 pm in Feb. because we were full from lunch. As I have stated in other posts that was a really bad decision. When we walked into the Flying Fish only a couple of tables had anybody at them and we were the last ones seated. From the very beginning we felt like we were being rushed out the door. Our entries arrived at the table before we were done with the apps. and looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp since the sauce had a film on it. We were asked if we wanted dessert before we were done with the meal and our waiter was hovering. You could tell he just wanted us gone. I won't book anything after 8:30 from now on!

We have had ADR's at Chefs de France close to 8:30 and at no time did we ever feel rushed or feel we were causing our waitress an troubles by having this late ADR. Also, other people came in after we had already been seated and had received our drinks.

I actually liked the late seating ... When we left, after 10:30 that evening actually, it was fun to stroll through EPCOT with very few people left in the park. We got some really cool photos that we could not have been able to get with thousands of people around. It was so nice to walk around, take it all in listening to the music and feeling like the park was just opened for us.

A very cool evening for us.

We had a similar experiences at Tusker House. We didn't feel rushed with our meal and the food was still being replenished. The waiters were cleaning up the restaurant, but overall the restaurant was very peaceful and practically empty. :cloud9: It was nice to be able to walk out of AK with practically no one around, we were able to take some pictures and stroll out. I'm not sure how it would be at other parks or resorts.

Has anyone had a late ADR at Chef Mickey's? I was able to get us one for 9:05 the night we arrive, as we will be getting in late.

We have had late reservations a number of times and never felt rushed or like the server wanted us out of there. In fact, the late reservations have been some of our best service! Hollywood Brown Derby and Le Cellier are two that stand out. At the Hollywood Brown Derby about 7 months ago, we were one of maybe 5 tables left by the end, but when we were seated the restaurant was still mostly full. They even offered to put our wine in "to-go" cups for the walk out (they did not do this in a rushing manner, btw)! Another one I remember is Le Cellier when we had an 8:45 ADR. This was a while ago, but we had an amazing server who took wonderful care of us. Again, by the time we were done we were close to the last table there. I can't think of a time we've done it at a buffet or restaurant that is known for rushing you lately, but for most meals I wouldn't hesitate. They make those ADR's available for a reason.

We love eating late. We understand the servers have to clean up the restaurant at some time, so we take no offense to this. We get great service and take as long as we need. I'd rather arrive 20 minutes before the restaurant closes than eat at 7pm in the middle of a dinner rush any day.

We usually always have a late reservation at Crystal Palace and Teppan Edo each trip. We have always had great experiences and never felt like we were being pushed out the door. :)
