Dilemma - suggestions very welcome

she probably would like some time at blizzard beach!! it's close to kidani, unlike typhoon lagoon which is quite the hike (took us 55 minutes on the bus last week).

Hello all,
Coming to Kidani Villiage for a week in late June with DW, DD(18) and DD(15) soon to be DD(16) two weeks after we are at the world. I just cant seem to get a good idea for the youngest to get her excited. All the good tours (keys to the kingdom) wont let her come because she wont be Exactly 16 years old  I've even offered to bribe the staff but I have been told that if she isnt exactly 16 then the legacy from Walt is that she cant see the magic behind the curtains. :sad2: Any suggestions for tours that we can do because she is 2 weeks before she turns 16 that arent kiddie tours would be appreciated, or the right person to bribe even more appreciated pirate:
thanks
hillbillie
Yup. That's exactly Walt's legacy. He did it on purpose, to ruin your daughter's trip. :rolleyes1

I'm assuming here that the comments about trying to bribe the staff were jokes. But regardless, a lot of this post just rubbed me the wrong way. They're Disney's tours and Disney's rules. They didn't do it to personally slight your daughter, y'know? Don't turn it into Disney's fault that she can't go. If it's that important to you that she go on a tour, then wait two weeks and schedule your vacation after she turns 16. Very simple solution.

The mouse boats is an excellent idea. I am looking into reservations on them as i type this. I'm still curious about the Y.E.S. classes. Can somebody point me to some info on those?

As far as your comments WDsearcher, I work in IT and I always tell people that you cant assume tone nor inflection from a typed communication. As an example you cant tell from my comments if I was actually angry/mad/sarcastic/joking. It's typed text. However you readily admit that you are aggravated with my typed text. I was telling what I was told by Disney Workers about Walt's rules (none orf that was opinion) and yes the bribe thingy were jokes (however I do know that they are quite liberal about booking children over 18 as under 18 to guarantee adjoining rooms in the resorts). I dont feel the need to be admonished by you nor do I feel any need to converse with you further.
Have a magical day

Why not do a tour that your youngest is able to do? I honestly don't blame her for not being excited since she is the only one in the family who will be excluded from this tour. It's not like it's just a small ride or attractions; it's a really cool tour (I'm assuming since I've never been on it.).

Hi Aripantaloon,
That's why I am soliciting information. I had no intention of excluding her from a tour. I was asking advice for tours or other things that wouldnt be limited by here age.

I'd wait to do any tours until everyone can participate. I think it's unfair to ask her to be excited when she's left out. :goodvibes

ETA: OP, we posted at the same time.

I've read every post on this thread and the last 20 and I cant believe the mush-heads that instantly respond with opinions and its obvious they havent even read the threads.
This poor lady is asking for help finding things to do and the last 2 posters are telling here not to exclude here daughter for things to do. :rotfl:

Just proof that the average person on the interweb who has opinions has no brain.

<peace>

Behind the steam trains tour was really nice. We took my son on it when he was about 11 so i know your dauhter is old enough. Some behind the scenes stuff it is early in the am so the Magic kingdom is EMPTY some great pics. it is fun for all ages as long as there is no Dislike of trains you really don't need to be an aficionato. Just fun

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I see that someone else has answered your question on the YES program. We try and do one each time we come since my daughter enjoyed the chance to go behind the scenes. She attended a class in the Magic Kingdom and learned of the science and physics for Stich, Mickey's philharmonic, and the haunted mansion. She especially loved going behind the scenes at the Haunted Mansion to learn about the Ballroom.

Lunch with an Imagineer was a hit too. We had an quiet lunch in a private room at the Brown Derby. There were a total of 9 present with the imagineer. At the check-in, we were given cast member type name tags wit our names and lunch with an Imagineer on them. Then we were given a tour of the Brown Derby and then escorted into the private dining area. We had a wonderful three course meal which our Imagineer joined us for and told us all about being an Imagineer at Disney, which attractions he worked on and was open to questions from the group. My daughter has loved this and we have gone twice already. At the end of the meal, the Imagineer signed a gold edged bowel for us and took pictures.

Pick a pearl was also a fun thing to do and then my daughter who is also interested in anemae (I hope I spelled that right) enjoyed going and picking a Japenese robe to try on (which we purchased of course) and the castmember added all the extra's to finish the outfit and I took pictures.

I highly recommend an off-site segway tour of Celebration, Fl. with ZE Tours.
We did this in 2009 because my son wasn't old enough for the segway tours with Disney, and we had a blast! We took a short taxi ride to and from the meeting point. We did the 90 minute tour and it was well worth it. Don't worry if you've never ridden one before. They take time to make sure you are comfortable with it before setting off for Celebration. We had never been on a segway before and picked it up in no time. The tour guide was wonderful, Celebration was a beautiful place to see and the segways were so much fun! They take small groups out, it ended up being just our family of four. Highly recommended!

Taken from their website - http://www.zetours.com/

If you are looking for adventure we recommend the "Hosted Tours of Celebration." Your host will take you through the villages and nature trails sharing knowledge about the town and some of the wildlife you may see as you journey along. You may even get to feed some of the squirrels and ducks!

We have 3 lengths of time for the "Hosted Tours of Celebration. We will start and end the tour from our training center. It usually takes no more then 20 minutes to get into Celebration. It gives you the chance to see part of Kissimmee as well!

Hosted Tours of Celebration are as follows:
$40 for 70 minutes of glide time on the Segway. (Approximately 30 minutes of this time will be in Celebration)
$55 for 100 minutes of glide time on the Segway. (Approximately 60 minutes of this time will be in Celebration)
$70 for 130 minutes of glide time on the Segway. (Approximately 90 minutes of this time will be in Celebration)

This looks very interesting. I went to the website and was reading about the tours and how much it costs, which is very cheap for how long you get to ride the Segway and was SO disappointed to read in the guidelines that you have to be 14 and weigh at least 100 pounds. I would have done that tour with my family for sure if my kids were old enough and big enough.

Here's the list of tours and all of the details, including age restrictions.

You can call 407-WDW-TOUR for more info, or to reserve.
Have fun! :)

You all might enjoy Wild By Design. The min. age is 14, the price is reasonable and it includes breakfast.

Sorry ... but you put it out there. You post something in a tone that can't be fully understood via text and you risk someone calling you on it. I think it's a tad over-reactive for you to take my comments so incredibly harshly, since it is only a computer BB, but that's your perogative, just as it's mine to answer in the first place. You have a magical day too. ;)

I have to agree with Searcher here. It was the emoticons that got me going. The frownie face, the "sad" face looking from side to side and the mentions of bribing with the pirates. That all had me thinking the OP was very serious and very upset. I guess it's all a joke. :rotfl2:

We have done the Steam Trains tour and found that fun and it does go a little backstage. I know my cousins really enjoyed the Seas tour they did (although I think they did the one that takes the scuba certification beforehand.

Better than either the Kays to the Kingdom or the Staeam train tour was our lunch with an imagineer- we really enjoyed that. I would have to say it was one of our top experiences so far.

Good luck finding something you can all enjoy together.
