What is a Fish Extender commonly know as an FE? A fish extender is a Disney designed pocket organizer that you hang from the fish outside your stateroom door. You can make them by sewing, not sewing and buying them on eBay or Etsy. I even saw one that was made of duck tape. So cool and unique. Personalization is unlimited. Your first names, family name, colors etc. can be added to your design. They usually come with 2, 3 or 4 pockets.
Heres a picture of ours that I had purchased from eBay a few years ago.
6221d70d-3c80-42fb-b934-4a7f265def3b.jpg

This one includes my DD, who will not be cruising with us this year. In this case, if I choose to use this one again all I need do is fold Heathers pocket behind and fasten it up and away.
What is the purpose of a Fish Extender? This is the fun and sometimes frustrating part. As this cruise thread progresses a list will be posted of those who wish to participate in the FE. Basically you buy or make little gifts to place in the pockets of your fellow cruisers. You can do anything you want. In the past weve received candy, bookmarks, magnets, nip bottles, CDs, pencils and pens and lots of homemade goodies. The list goes on.

If everything goes as planned, my DH and I will be on this cruise. We are driving down and will be staying in the Treehouses with his brother and girlfriend from Nov 30 to Dec 7. They will leave Dec 7 and we will stay one more day and then do the cruise!!:cool1:

This will be my fifth cruise with Disney and his very first. I am so excited because I have been trying to get him to go for a long time. He wants to do everything at WDW. All the big rides. I have been in planning mode for the past month. I know he will really have a good time. :woohoo::cool1::thumbsup2

:welcome:tinker1bell, This will be our 5th also. My DH always loved the parks and it was like pulling teeth to get him on a Disney cruise, but when he did there was no stopping him.:cool1: He loves it now and it's been his idea to keep coming back. He's striving for gold status. Your DH will love it.:thumbsup2

We just booked today! It's my birthday present to me :D We've done 3 cruises (2 Princess and 1 NCL) but this will be our first on DCL so I'm looking forward to a new cruise experience. Hubby is just happy he's coming too. We're planning 4 days at WDW staying at AKL then sailing away on the Dream!

Is it December yet?

I so wish it was!! :welcome::welcome:

My first cruise was with NCL. Hubby and I loved it. (1987)

I have done two four day on the Wonder, a WBTA on the Magic, a one day on Princess from Seattle to Vancouver to pick up the Wonder for five days to La.

The one day cruise with Princess was hectic but what a way to travel!!

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :cool1:

Have a great cruise!

Hello All! This is our first cruise, around this house we are already bouncing off the walls with excitement. We just booked our cruise today and the kids are already asking to pack lol. Our daughter even told the pizza boy when he came to the door. We are bringing my father and we will be celebrating his 50th Birthday. Has anyone ever tried the cakes you can custom order? I am just curious if they are good. I'm aiming to order one and have it brought to dinner one night. I am up for suggestions on which night might be best. I currently have been reading EVERYTHING, good and bad about DCL. So feel free to fill me in, I am a walking sponge. I love to be prepared, with 5 kids it is the only way to plan. :rotfl:

Hi and :welcome:to you and your family. You're going to love the Dream. We sailed on her in 2011 and we loved it. It's a gorgeous ship, there's so much to see and do. I can help you in most areas except for the kids clubs as my kid will be 23 this fall. She won't be sailing with us this time and it will be just me and DH. I'm not sure about customized cakes on the cruise. I know you can order certain sizes in a few flavor choices and colors. They will bring your dad a complimentary celebration cake and sing happy birthday to him on any night of sailing. Just note it in your reservation or tell your servers. I usually let them pick the night for an element of surprise. Can't wait to meet you. Here's a pic of the celebration cake but it's just big enough for one though. Have a magical day.:goodvibes

We just booked this cruise on our cruise last week, so we are excited! It will be DH and I, and this is our third cruise.:)

:welcome:belle07....looks like our cruise is starting to grow. Maybe we should think about starting a roll call soon.:goodvibes

We're booked on this cruise but we've already re-booked 3 times so who knows, lol. ( I was pregnant, then a newborn etc) This is our 4th or 5th, DS#1 4th and 1st cruise for baby. My parents are coming as well to help with the little one. We cruised with my parents on the Dream just after she started sailing in 2011 and we are all excited to go back during the Xmas season.

Hello everyone! I'm going to be a fellow passenger on the Dec 8 cruise. Honestly this is my first cruise ever, so I'll admit I'm a tad nervous. At least I have a few months to read the boards and learn about cruising.

:welcome:

Don't let everything stress you out!! Just make sure you just take time to relax!! Don't think you have to do everything.

Do make sure that you get a Navigator for each adult in the cabin and highlight the evening before things you think you might LIKE to do. Do check out the spa on sailing day. They have a visitation at 3pm and even have a drawing for a few prizes.

Keep asking questions cause you know you will get answers here!!

:goodvibes Aww, thanks! See, learning things already! :goodvibes

I wouldn't say it was a last minute change to my travel plans, since it isn't to December. Originally my trip was to camp at Fort Wilderness for two weeks. But then I got to thinking not too long ago I'd rather stay at a hotel since it is just me going, and somehow I found my way over to Disney Cruise site. It was between this cruise and a Caribbean 7-night. I figured I'd start out on a 4 night to see if I like it! :thumbsup2

I have dreams of doing a Hawaiian cruise (Disney or not), and figured this would be the perfect learning cruise! :teacher:

I can't wait!

(Except the whole Carnival ship being stranded has me a tad bit worried... thinking I'll have to remember to bring along a few extra snacks and some bottled water)

:welcome: to you both. Hey dsneygirl, I've had to rebook one of mine a few times before I took my first cruise so I know how you feel. Hopefully you'll stay with this date and join us.:cool1:

Hello tabbytrekker, take tinker1bell's advice and just relax. It's suppose to be fun. You'll learn so much from these boards and I'm sure anyone here will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.:goodvibes
