Dec 18, 2011 - Disney Dream

Hmm, I'm confused. I didn't think about it but I think it says first seating but my show is at 7pm? Maybe I have the 5:30pm dining?

There are 3 show times on the Dream: 5ish, 7:30, and 9ish. Main seating for dinner, which is at 5:30-5:45, will have show time of either 7:30 or 9ish. Second seating for dinner, which is around 8:30 will have show times of at least 5ish and maybe 7:30. I believe the shows are about 45 mins.

I think.

I just checked (home, yet MORE snow!!) and it says my dining is at 6pm and my show time is at 5pm. I'm not sure if I like that because we'll basically need to be ready for dinner by 5pm. I liked it the way we had it on the Magic - dinner and then show...although this way I guess I can take the kids to the club after dinner and go do something without them...

I live on the east side of Orlando, near UCF and the Research Park where I work. Windermere is very nice, although there is a bit of a scandal going on there right now with their chief of police being arrested! Working at Chef Mickey sounds like a good way to spend the summer. I've also been to 4 Kentucky Derbys so I have had way more than my fair share of fun in your fair city of Louisville!
I haven't been keeping up with the scandal! Last year was my first Derby, and we went out afterwards. Let me just say that was a LONG, FUN day! Derby is out of control here!! It'll be time again soon...can't wait!

I bet you can request to change it.

If I'm booked through a travel agent, does anyone know if I can call Disney directly to change my stateroom #, or does the agent have to do it? Our staterooms are all in the same hallway, but they're scattered. We have 3 rooms. Just looked on the DCL website and I see there are now 3 rooms available in a row with 2 of them connecting! This would be so perfect for us!! I want to call and get them switched before someone else grabs them, but I'm not sure if I can.

Also, does anyone have any experience with requesting their own table at dinner? Not to sound anti-social, but we would really rather it be just our family at our table. There are 8 of us, so maybe they would accomodate this?

I think with DCL, the agent would have to call and not you. Hopefully you got the rooms already! While you're on the phone with your agent, make sure that your 3 rooms are linked and add a request for a table for 8. I'd think they'd accommodate this...

Got it all settled. I was just nervous since they were technically closed until Monday. I think it'll be nice to have all 3 rooms in a row. Much better than walking up and down the halls to each other's rooms!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Heard a large part of the country is expecting an ice storm tonight. We're just supposed to get a lot of rain here. With 6 make up days already tacked on to the end of the year, I'll take rain. :)

Hi everyone! We were originally on the Dream at New Years, but when the school schedule came out we moved our cruise up - it was much cheaper and we didn't have to miss school! We are from Texas as well! We live in the DFW area - we need to have a meet like Christmas in July in Texas! Everyone can wear Disney stuff!

There are four of us - Me (Renee), Alan, my DH, Anna (DD7) and AJ (DS5). We will also be joined by my MIL, Marie, from Atlanta, and at least one other family of four - Karen, Shane, Callie and Chad (Texans as well). We are on Deck 7. We may have more added to our group - I work part-time as a travel agent and full time as an Accounting Recruiter. I have been trying to get friends and family to go with us - we'll see if any more join the fun!

This will be our 7th Disney cruise - our 6th over the holiday time. We are also DVC members (Bay Lake Towers) and plan on going there for a week after the cruise. We will most likely drive and spend the night at the cape on Saturday.

We love doing the F/E exchange, so count us in for that!

We have always had nice weather in December. For me, the water at Castaway Cay was beautiful, but a bit chilly for most adults...smile. Saying that, there have always been people swimming and it has always been very nice on the beach. You will love the decorations on Castaway Cay and the ship! I wrote an article last year about cruising at Christmas in the Passporter Newsletter. We love to cruise over the holiday time!

I hear that you feel the movement of the Dream much less than the Magic and Wonder.

I will be happy to help if anyone has questions! Sometimes I get busy and don't get on the board enough - so if you want an answer right away, just PM me!

Since we will be on a new ship, would anyone be interested in doing a tour of cabins? I did this on my very first Disney cruise and really enjoyed seeing all the different catagory rooms!

I look forward to getting to know you all better! I am really excited there are so many Texans! I have been trying to talk Disney into sending the Magic to Galveston - I would love to be able to take the ship to Disney World and back!

Renee

Well, after much discussion we have decided to do WDW for Christmas instead. We haven't done the world for Xmas yet so we thought this would be the year. We are definitely making plans to cruise with DCL on our next trip.

I hope you all have a amazing cruise and a great holiday season aboard the Dream.

Hi! I'd be in for a tour of cabins. I'm in an inside cabin for this one so not sure if anyone would want to see mine. :rotfl: We're staying at Bay Lake before the cruise, DVC members as well. I hadn't even thought about decorations at Castaway Cay, I'm sure it's done very nicely!

Enjoy your trip and have a wonderful holiday season!

We just booked this cruise to B2B with the Dec. 15th cruise. Last Christmas we did the 11 night southern Caribbean on the Magic and couldn't imagine just spending 4 days on the dream. I am so excited. We haven't told the kids just yet. I don't want to torture them for a whole year. So in our group we will have me Eve 38, DH Ryan 35, DS Zack 16, DS Christopher 11, DS Jacob 8 and our little princess Katie 3. I'm so excited to see the new ship.
I would definitely be in if we're going to do the FE. We did it last time and it was so fun.
Looking forward to talking with you all for the next 10 months. :goodvibes

After much discussion, we decided to cancel the New Years cruise we had booked. :sad1: Since I would not give up the idea of cruising on the Dream we are now booked on this cruise. :woohoo:

My group is: Me - Krista, DH - Jason, DD - Ann age 9, DD - Kate age 5, DM - Joyce (aka Nana) and DF - Pat (aka Papaw). We are from Louisville, KY and this will be our 1st Disney cruise and the girls 1st cruise ever. We will be in connecting cabins on deck 8.

At this time, I am unsure if we will be flying in the day of the cruise or the night before. My mom always has a Christmas party on the Saturday before Christmas, which is Dec. 17 this year, so I will be waitning on Southwest's schedule to see what time we can fly out.

We would like to be included in the FE and would also enjoy doing a cabin tour. :yay:

Talk to you soon,
Krista

I just returned to my dd in SC after the Disney Wonder Panama Cruise and a Disneyland visit. I am still reeling from a fabulous trip.

We passed side by side with the Dream as we sailed from port and had a horn blow off. It was magnificent!:thumbsup2
They said it was the only time the two ships will ever pass.

I am looking forward to this trip as my dear friends booked me on this a long time ago and the best part will be spending time together.

I will catch up on the reading later.

We have sailed on the wonder two times loved it so much we upgraded to 7 night and did the western and eastern cruises on the magic. Now we can't wait for dec 18 when we will be sailing on the dream. This is first time we will sail concierge. in cabin 11000. we have three girls to which have powered wheelchairs. dcl have been very accommodating. We have always had a handicap accessible room which where very spacious. I haven't seen pictures of this room and was wondering if anyway has a link our pictures of this room. Look forward to sailing with you all!!!!!! anxiously waiting

Hi Eve, were you on the 11 night Chirstmas Cruise this past year? Did we meet?

Ibela, I am very interested to see the inside staterooms! There are fewer of them and I really want to check out the virtual portal!

I would be happy to head up the cabin tour group! I have never done a cruise less than 7 nights, so I'm sure we will have a lot to pack into a few days! My MIL is also in an electric wheelchair and I know she would enjoy the tour. I'm thinking that would make the first day on the ship a difficult time, due to luggage in the hallways. I know we don't want to do it on the Castaway Cay day so that leaves either Nassau or our Day at Sea. At this point I don't think we are getting off the ship at Nassau since we are really looking forward to exploring the new ship! Let me know what everyone would prefer - do we want to combine this with another group activity? Some of the things we have done in the past as a group that were fun were a wine tasting group, a tiara and champaign meet (There is the new Pink on the Dream that would be too cute for this!), we have also done a Christmas ornament exchange.

Let me know what you think! If you want to be on the tour of cabins PM me with your stateroom and I will come up with a list!

Well put me down for the cabin tour. I got the inside because I was curious about the virtual porthole too! Our first 2 DCL cruises we had a balcony but rarely used it (total of about 2hrs in a week!) so I figured I'd give it a shot. And we've never been on anything less than 7 days either, what will we have time to do? :scared1:

Thi will be the first time we can dump (um, escort) BOTH kids to the kids club so I'm definitely interested in some sort of tasting...maybe the margarita tasting?

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! About 10 months till cruise time! :cool1:

You too!!!

Question - We're actually going on a NCL cruise the last week of March and are stopping in Port Canaveral so I wanted to spend the day at the Kennedy Space Center. Has anyone ever gone? Any tips?

Welcome to the new people on the thread. I'm adding you guys to the list...

Hi there. We are from Bedford so we are very close to you. We are in room 7690 and it will be me (Stephanie), DD (10) Brianna and DS (6) Ethan. Brianna's birthday is actually 2 days before we sail so this is her birthday present. We were on the Wonder back in June and we loved it so much I booked this cruise while onboard. We should have a pre cruise lunch (or something) in July so we can meet everyone. We didn't do the fish extenders on the last cruise but kind of excited to get in on it with this one. Chat with you soon.

Steph

Count us in for the cabin tour also. We had a balconyon our last cruise and used it all the time. Maybe after the cabin tour I might go with the inside room on the next cruise. Don't worry, I will be 'dumping' my kids also :cool1:
The margarita tasting sounds like a lot of fun. Would love to join in on that one.
