So my parents just finished a RCCL cruise--their first cruise ever. They had a great time. One evening they were talking to a travel agent who was also a guest on board. They mentioned that they had a DCL cruise booked for next year with their daughter's family (me, dh, kids) and they travel agent said "Oh, if you liked this cruise then you'll like DCL even better. DCL is perfection!"

So that sounds good to us!

I agree! We did RCCL last year....no comparison!

Im starting to think that Disney should NOT have been our first cruising experience! I think I am going to be ruined for any other cruise my dh wants to take (we are looking at a 14 day hawaiian) but on the other hand, I would be in hawaii so it couldnt be that bad right? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

once you have cruised DCL, it's hard to change! you will have to learn to enjoy the specialness of the other lines.

It IS hard to change!!! I've cruised DCL 6 times and in Dec. we tried NCL...it just wasn't near the same for us. It was a nice ship and thankfully this time we decided on a verandah for the first time:love: and the ports were incredible but as far as the food, service etc:eek: we're totally spoiled by DCL! Now, if we were big into the casino's, bingo, and art auctions etc...then NCL might be a good choice but I have an 8 year old didn't even look at the kids clubs ;). Thankfully we planned great excursions on each port and completely enjoyed every moment there:cloud9:

I do want to try RCCL, but like NCL, we'll try somewhere Disney doesn't go  maybe Alaska or something.

We also made the DCL mistake. Disney was our first cruise and a 7 nighter to boot. Now we can't even think about anything less then a week. A month after we returned from our Eastern Car. my inlaws decided that the entire family should do a cruise. All 18 of us, except we were all paying our own way and we would cruising Carnival. I went home, got on line, checked the dis boards and let them know within an hour that we would not be going on a Carnival Cruise, EVER. We are completly spoiled, once you go Disney you never go back. After my inlaws returned and I saw their pictures and heard their stories, (wet t-shirt contests, etc>) I knew that we had made the right decision. Little things like the wait staff moving with you from dining room to dining room really help to personalize the trip and make the children feel even more special. After looking at every other cruise line in the hopes of saving some $$$ we booked a Western Caribbean. Our daughter would never even dream of another line. Even though the cost is considerably more I know that everything will be perfect and we will have a wonderful time.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of! We booked our first cruise ever with DCL for this December....land and sea (I can't go to Orlando and not see the World). I am already checking schedules and prices for a 2010 cruise for 7 nights cuz I know the 3 nights we will be on won't be enough!

I have found much cheaper cruises, but I doubt I'll want to try them after we are spoiled by DCL....
