DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

I'm happy about the vaccine policy, as I think it makes things much safer.

Anyone that's been on a DCL cruise before knows that there is always lots to do. With queuing for the pool deck, limited shows (one) in the Walt Disney theatre, no basketball, ping pong, buffets not operating, etc, and kids clubs being limited to one session per day, just where exactly is everyone going to be, and what are they going to be doing?

It also sounds like your phone will never be out of your hand, either looking at menus, or waiting for your place to become available in the queue.

Disney Magic At Sea Embarkation Day

Discover what you’ll need to do when you arrive at the cruise terminal—as you make your way onto the ship.
Last Updated: April 23, 2021

Top Things You’ll Need to Know
Please read this information carefully and be sure to check back 24 hours prior to your sail date as some information may change.

COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: In order to sail, Guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS currently defines “fully vaccinated” as 7 days after the final dose. Disney Cruise Line will contact Guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to show proof of this vaccination status.
  • Pre-Trip COVID-19 Testing: Guests under 18 years of age are not required to be vaccinated, but must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 5 days and 24 hours prior to the date you set sail. Disney Cruise Line has secured a special discounted rate through a third-party vendor for PCR tests and will contact Guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to complete and submit their test results. Guests may obtain their PCR test from the third-party vendor or any qualified testing supplier.
  • Embarkation COVID-19 Testing: All Guests, including those who have been vaccinated, are required to undergo an antigen COVID-19 rapid test administered by a third party in the terminal prior to boarding. Anyone testing positive will undergo a second test to verify the results. All tests administered at the terminal will be at the expense of Disney Cruise Line. Guests with positive COVID-19 test results, as well as those in their travel party, will be denied boarding. Read Our Privacy Policy.
Complete Online Check-In
You must complete the required Online Check-In process at least one day prior to the date you set sail. This step-by-step process includes filling out important cruise documents and selecting a port arrival time. For the health and well-being of everyone, Guests are not permitted at the terminal or in parking areas before their scheduled port arrival time.

Inside the Cruise Terminal
Here’s what you need to know as you make your way into the cruise terminal.

Face Coverings
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 11 and up) and Crew Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining, swimming or in your stateroom. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. It is recommended that children ages 3 to 10 wear a face covering at all times except in designated locations. All face coverings should fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free; fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face; be secured with ties or ear loops; and be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable. At this time based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind not acceptable face coverings.

Luggage
We strongly recommend all bags and luggage be checked in. All checked bags will undergo a sanitization process. Guests 18 years of age and older are allowed to bring a maximum of 2 bottles of wine or one 6-pack of beer in their carry-on luggage. Additional alcohol beyond this limit or discovered in checked luggage will be discarded.

Embarkation Day Health Questionnaire
All Guests are required to complete a health questionnaire prior to arriving at the port. The form can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App on Embarkation Day. A secondary screening by a health care professional may be required based on the answers provided in the health questionnaire.

Temperature Check
All Guests will undergo a temperature screening prior to boarding the ship. Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature higher than 38°C will be directed to an additional location for rescreening. A Guest with a temperature higher than 38°C—in addition to everyone in the Guest’s traveling party—will not be allowed to sail.

Special Needs
Are you a Guest with special needs? Please contact Disney Cruise Line Special Services via email or by calling 0800 171 2317 at least 30 days prior to your sail date for more information.

Getting on the Ship
Here’s what you need to know as you board the ship for the very first time.

Stateroom and Mandatory Emergency Drill
Your stateroom will be ready at 4:00 PM. But before heading there, you will need to take part in our Mandatory Emergency Drill. Using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, everyone assigned to your stateroom will go to a designated Assembly Station and check in before setting sail. In addition, a Safety Information video will be broadcast across all monitors throughout the ship, on all staterooms televisions and will also be available to view via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app throughout your voyage.

Activities
View the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for a list of offerings available to you and your family on board the ship.

Dining
Feeling hungry before dinner? Check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app after boarding to see the lunchtime selections available. Quick and casual-dining offerings will also be available at the ship’s many outdoor eateries on the upper decks. Please note, all self-service buffets are temporarily closed.

In an effort to promote physical distancing inside and outside our dining rooms, our friendly Crew will greet Guests as they arrive at each venue and help to promote proper physical distancing between travel parties. For dinner, Guests will be assigned to the same table and service team, with one family or travel party per table. Preassigned locations and dinner times can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, and are also printed on the Key to the World cards located in each stateroom. Guests can continue to choose first or second seating times when booking their cruise. Additional offerings for breakfast, lunch and snacks can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

Departure Time
To support increased shipboard cleaning and disinfecting, the ship’s scheduled departure time will be 7:00 PM.

Disney Magic At Sea On The Ship

Discover all the magic that awaits you on board—and how sailing with us is a dream come true for the entire family.

Last Updated: April 23, 2021

Disney Cruise Line’s legacy and principles of integrity, care and community guide us as we welcome Guests back. While we are doing some things differently, special Disney magic continues to await Guests aboard our ships.

Health & Safety Measures
Considering guidance from the UK Government, health authorities and medical experts, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the UK Chamber of Shipping, we’re reducing Guest capacity aboard our ships, while incorporating important health and safety-related measures, including:

Mandatory Daily Health Questionnaire
You will be required to complete a daily health screening questionnaire via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App on behalf of every Guest in your stateroom. Each day, via the app on your smartphone, you’ll receive a daily notification and link to complete the health questionnaire.

Mandatory Daily Temperature Check
Daily temperature checks are required for all Guests and Crew. Crew Members will be stationed at the entrances to the dining rooms during lunch to take your temperature. Guests displaying a temperature higher than 38°C will be referred to the onboard Medical Center.

Signage and Ground Markings
New signs and ground markings have been installed to help Guests better navigate common areas while practicing physical distancing between travel parties.

Physical Barriers
Where it may be difficult to maintain physical distancing guidelines, physical barriers—like plexiglass—have been added throughout the ship.

Enhanced Cleaning
Building on our existing protocols of cleaning, extra attention will be given to high-touch areas such as handrails, doorknobs and elevator buttons; youth spaces, dining rooms and other common spaces; and inside all staterooms. In addition, all Guest areas will undergo a deep cleaning nightly.

Hand Sanitizers
Additional hand-sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the ship.

• Reserved Show Times: In order to watch a live stage show inside the Walt Disney Theatre, Guests must reserve a show date and arrival time. Reservations can be made online or through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 30 days prior to the date you set sail.
  • Show Schedules: To promote physical distancing, each itinerary will offer one West-End-style live show performed multiple times with reduced capacity. 4-night cruises will also include an additional live variety show. Everybody knows: Disney Characters love to cruise, too! Be on the look-out for many popular Disney pals throughout your voyage—there’s more than ever before!

Character Interactions
Disney Characters will interact with Guests from a safe distance in new and entertaining ways; however, close-up encounters and autographs have been temporarily paused.

Surprise Experiences
Disney Characters will be popping up for surprise appearances throughout the ship.

Disney Character Photos
Although close-up interactions with Disney Characters have been temporarily paused, there will be plenty of opportunities to capture photos with some of your favorite Disney friends from a safe distance.

Serving up diverse global cuisines and classic casual bites inside themed restaurants peppered with Disney magic, Disney Cruise Line invites you to savor the finest in dining at sea with new enhancements sure to surprise and delight—and promote health and safety.

Guests can continue to choose first or second seating times when booking their cruise. Additional offerings for breakfast and lunch can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App.

Digital Menus
Guests will use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to view all restaurant menus on board the ship, including menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and when dining at Palo, inside our lounges and bars, and for in-stateroom dining. Paper menus will be available upon request for Guests without a mobile device.

Buffets
For the safety and well-being of everyone, self-service buffets have been temporarily paused.

Quick-Service Dining Food & Beverage Locations
Quick service food and beverage locations still offer all-you-care-to-eat bites and treats, and are served by Crew Members at designated times each day throughout the cruise.

Self-Service Stations
All food and beverages that were previously available at self-service stations will now be served by Crew Members. In addition, physical barriers have been added where it may be difficult to maintain physical distancing.

Royal Court Royal Tea
While little princes and princesses can still enjoy a fairytale teatime experience in a fanciful setting on 3- and 4-night sailings, Disney Princesses will make appearances from a safe distance. In addition, overall capacity for the Royal Court Royal Tea experience has been reduced and only one travel party will be assigned per table. Updates to the assortment of gifts include collectible journals and lithographs, which are temporarily replacing the autograph books. For everyone’s safety and well-being, photo sessions and autographs have been temporarily paused.

Pools, Waterslides & More
Make a splash in freshwater pools, aqua play areas and waterslides designed for kids, families and adults.

Virtual Queue for Goofy’s Pool Deck Area and AquaLab Deck Area
To accommodate physical distancing and limit capacity, Guests must join our new virtual queue to access the Goofy’s Pool Deck Area and AquaLab Deck Area. Guests join the virtual queue via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once they’re on board the ship. When it’s their turn, Guests will receive a push notification on their mobile device requesting they make their way to the Goofy’s Pool Deck Area and AquaLab Deck Area, which includes 2 family pools, a kid’s splash area and lounge chairs. As Guests leave the pool area, chairs will be thoroughly cleaned before new Guests make their way in. Towels will be provided.

Face Coverings
Face coverings for Guests ages 11 and older—including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine—are not required while swimming, but are required when navigating the pool areas. Deck chairs and relaxation spaces are pre-arranged to reduce capacity and accommodate physical distancing. It is recommended that children ages 3 to 10 wear a face covering at all times except in designated locations.

Waterslides
Waterslides remain open with queue locations to accommodate with physical distancing.

Splash Zones, Wading Pools and Whirlpools
Splash zones, wading pools and whirlpools are open with limited capacity to accommodate physical distancing.

Youth Activities
Children can still find something to love at larger-than-life, whimsically themed kids clubs featuring new health and safety protocols, thanks to a near endless range of activities, games and surprises.

Reserved Youth Activities
To help manage capacity, parents must register their children for Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab during the Online Check-In process and then, prior to setting sail, reserve specific session times online or via the Disney Cruise Navigator app. Guests can book one session per day on a first-come, first-served basis: a 1.5 hour-long session on Embarkation Day; and a 2.5 hour-long session during days at sea. Children will receive their youth activities wristband at the cruise terminal, which grants them access to both Disney’s Oceaneer Lab and Disney’s Oceaneer Club.
Pending availability, Guests can also register their children and book session times on board the ship using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

Dropping Off/Picking Up
To promote physical distancing, only one parent or guardian can drop off or pick up kids at Disney’s Oceaneer Lab and Disney’s Oceaneer Club. In addition, parents are not allowed to enter the youth spaces when dropping off and picking up children.

Temperature Screenings
Children will undergo temperature screenings upon arrival and when leaving the youth clubs. Anyone displaying a temperature higher than 38°C will be directed to an additional location for further screening.

Handwashing
All children will be required to wash their hands upon entering and exiting the youth clubs.

Cleaning
With a focus on high-touch surfaces, youth clubs will be cleaned more frequently and undergo a deep cleaning each night with a nontoxic, disinfecting mist. Disney Cruise Line uses disinfecting products that meet the guidelines for use against coronaviruses, bacteria and other pathogens.

Capacity and Small Group Interactions
At Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, children will interact within groups of 15, paired with one Disney counselor.

Nursery
“it’s a small world” nursery! is temporarily closed.

Fitness Center
Keep shipshape while at sea thanks to expansive exercise centers offering state-of-the-art equipment, personal trainers, nutritional guidance—and featuring new health and safety measures. Use of the Fitness Center is complimentary for Guests 14 years of age and older. Guests between the ages of 14 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian to enter.

Reserved Fitness Center Sessions
To accommodate physical distancing, the Fitness Center will limit capacity. Guests can reserve one 45-minute session each day of their voyage. Reservations must be made online or via the Disney Cruise Navigator app and are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 30 days prior to sailing.

Specialized Classes
In order to participate in a fitness class during your cruise, you must make a reservation. Reservations can be made through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on a first-come, first-served basis on board the ship. Guests are encouraged to reserve in advance to secure preferred dates and times.

Cleaning and Sanitization
The Fitness Center will undergo deep cleanings between sessions and a nightly sanitization. Hand sanitizers will also be available on site.

Staterooms
Whether it's an imaginative inside retreat or a spacious suite, our accommodations allow you to travel in comfort and style. Our dedicated team of caring Crew Members will do their best to accommodate your every need during your stay.

Housekeeping
Staterooms may receive deep cleaning treatments in between voyages, prior to the arrival of Guests. During voyages, staterooms may be cleaned twice a day: once in the morning and one “turndown” service in the early evening. Crew Members will not enter staterooms while Guests are present. All linens will be washed at high temperatures for extended cycle times and high-touch loose soft goods—such as sofa pillows and paper stationery—will have been removed. After housekeeping conducts a deep cleaning between voyages, a “Commitment to Clean” seal of completion will be placed on the door to notify Guests that their rooms have been thoroughly cleaned.

Hanging Gift Bags on Stateroom Doors
In an effort to minimize traffic in common areas, door-to-door gift exchanges (via “fish extenders”) among Guests are not permitted.

Shopping
In merchandise locations on board the ship, you will continue to discover apparel, toys, jewelry, timepieces, collectibles and more—many exclusive to Disney Cruise Line—with some modifications to the shopping experience, which will help us manage capacity and foster physical distancing.

Contactless Payments
While Guests will still use their Key to the World card to charge purchases made on the ship, we are introducing a new contactless payment system where transactions can be completed without our Crew having to touch the card.

Digital Receipts
You can now review recent transactions and purchases directly via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.
All onboard payments will be taken in US dollars and will, therefore, be subject to the conversion rate and any applicable international transaction fees imposed by your bank/card provider. To account for this, we will be applying a 2% discount to all final bills.

Whether you take your own snapshots or let us capture the fun for you with our professional photography services, turn the magical moments of your Disney cruise into treasured memories to last a lifetime.

Photography Services
Before you set sail, pre-purchase a photo package online.

Photo Kiosks
On board, kiosks are available to view and purchase photos taken by our professional photographers, although plexiglass has been added in certain locations and some kiosks have been deactivated in an effort to promote physical distancing and to help minimize contact with others.

Disney Character Photos
Although close-up interactions with Disney Characters have been temporarily paused, you will be able to take photos of some of your favorite Disney friends from a safe distance.

Photo Backdrops
Fun photo backdrops will be available throughout the ship to help you capture memorable shots with family and friends.

Photo Opportunities
Our professional photographers will be taking photos during dinner in our main dining rooms. During this time, Guests will be able to take photos without their face coverings, while remaining seated. Photographers will also be stationed at iconic ship locations and in front of fun photo backdrops for memorable shots with family and friends.

Guest Services
Have a question about your onboard account? Need to make a dining reservation? There are 3 options available to you should you need to get in touch with Guest Services during your voyage.

Live Chat
To promote physical distancing and to help limit interactions with Cast Members and Guests, our new live chat feature via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app lets you communicate with Guest Services throughout your cruise.

In-Person
Guests can quickly and easily schedule an appointment to meet with select Crew Members—including those from Guest Services—via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Appointments are available every 10 minutes during normal operating hours. Guests without an appointment are not permitted at this time.

Via Phone
Guests can use their stateroom phone to contact Guest Services.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Children of all ages are required to wear face coverings during their magical makeovers due to close proximity of Guests and Crew during the experience.

Recreation
While there’s always so much to do during a Disney cruise, some recreational activities have been modified to accommodate physical distancing.
  • Ping Pong and Shuffleboard have been temporarily paused.
  • Access to the basketball courts has been temporarily paused. This area has been temporarily transformed into a sun deck for Guests looking to catch some rays while out at sea.

Disney Magic At Sea Debarkation Day

Discover what you’ll need to do on the final morning of your cruise—as you make your way off the ship.

Last Updated: April 23, 2021

Breakfast
Breakfast will be served on the last day of your cruise before you debark the ship. Here are the things you’ll need to know.

Reserved Breakfast Time
On the final morning of the cruise, Guests will enjoy a farewell breakfast in one of our themed restaurants. Breakfast will be scheduled using assigned, staggered seating times to promote physical distancing. Locations and dining times can be found on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. As an alternate option, Cove Café will be open for specialty coffees from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Remember to bring your luggage with you, as you'll be asked to debark the ship following breakfast.

Getting Off the Ship
Here’s what you need to know as you debark the ship on the last morning of your cruise.

Debarkation Time
Debarkation times are based on your dining time and will be available via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

At this time based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

Picking Up Your Luggage
While we strongly recommend that you take your luggage with you when you debark the ship on the following day, you may place your luggage outside your stateroom on the last night of your voyage between 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM for complimentary delivery to the ship's terminal. Color-coded luggage tags featuring Disney characters are provided to assist you in locating your luggage in the terminal. You will need to write your stateroom number, name, address and number of bags on these tags and attach the tags to your luggage. Luggage will be placed in colored zones, according to stateroom number, for easy recognition in the port terminal on debarkation day.

Customs and UK Border Protection
After collecting your luggage, all Guests in your party must present themselves for inspection to Customs and UK Border Force. Porters will be available in the terminal to assist you as you proceed through Customs.

Express Walk-Off
Guests debarking the ship have the option to take their luggage off the ship once the ship has been cleared by the local authorities. Guests will be responsible for their own luggage; no assistance will be provided by onboard Crew or shoreside representatives. If you’d like to take advantage of Express Walk-Off, you should be ready to debark the ship as early as 7:00 AM, and be listening for announcements as to when the ship has been cleared by local authorities.

So... this might be a dumb question. It’s possible that I could get both vaccinations by sail date. What happens if I book and don’t have both vaccines? Can I get my money back with no penalty?

Wow, tonnes of info now it’s been provided!
Quite a lot of interesting changes that I imagine will put off a fair number of people, not least the physical issue of vaccinations required.

I would contact Disney Cruise Line about this

Quite a lot of interesting changes that I imagine will put off a fair number of people, not least the physical issue of vaccinations required.

I know, so much info, it basically covers all the questions and speculation we have been discussing.

if you have had your first jab you will be ok but sadly anyone who hasn’t will be affected especially for the earlier cruises which are too soon. I think there will be a lot of disappointed people on hearing this😢

Thats not correct, this is what DCL say on the website Health and Safety Information

In order to sail, Guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS currently defines “fully vaccinated” as 7 days after the final dose. Disney Cruise Line will contact Guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to show proof of this vaccination status.

I’m considering a three night cruise (first timer). If there’s only one show being repeated each night I’m wondering what other evening entertainment will be available.

Also regarding dining, the information mentions having the same table each night. Does this mean they’re not doing rotational dining? I wouldn’t want to go to the same restaurant every night.

I think they meant if you’ve already had your first jab now, you’ll be getting your second in time for cruising :)

Sorry if i was not clear I meant if you have had the first vaccine already you should have had the 2nd by the time the cruises start with the 7 days grace.

That’ll explain why stuff was pushed back.

A lot of those with young kids won’t have had a first vaccine yet so they need to say what the policy would be if you don’t get the jabs in time as it’s not openly bookable like the US.

With all the information about dining above there's nothing about Cabanas. It just says no buffets. So has it become a standard sit-down-and-order restuarant and do you have to book for lunch time slot ?

Well that’s my family out.

I still don’t understand how they can get away legally with calling them vaccines when they aren’t.

Wow so many new rules and restrictions. Lots to take in...

I am for any restrictions that can end this terrible period we are currently in, So support anything that can be done to help.

I'm not sure that all the restrictions placed on these new sailings will add up to an experience that represents what I look for in a Disney cruise. I'm not sure how carefree and relaxing all the new processes will make the experience.

Really interested to hear what everyone else thinks tho.

Yes it would seem so, they have a whole page dedicated to this:

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/featured/book-with-confidence-uk/

For me, it may not be the full disney cruise experience but far better than nothing, and I am still really looking forward to it, assuming I can get booked.
