I work with a rescue group and we are seeing a massive spike in relinquishments and abandonments in the last month....all ages too. We are to the point that we may have to turn away dogs because we are out of room. It is heartbreakng! We also don't adopt out until after the holidays. We get too many "changed my mind" returns because a Christmas puppy sounded like a good idea, and then reality sets in. Dogs are hard work, but you get love enough to make up for it tenfold.
