Curbside Check-in Questions

I have been pondering the idea of curbside bag check when departing from MCO. We are flying out with JetBlue terminal A. We will have two rental cars. Is it ok to drop everyone off then bring the cars back (in terminal)? Can we park and wait while we check luggage and get boarding passes? if not, how will the drivers get their boarding passes or should they just use the kiosk inside after dropping off passengers? Is the curbside area marked so we can find it when we drive in the airport? Is it easier just to drop the cars off and all of us walk to the kiosk and check bags inside? (thats the way we have been doing it for the past few years)

Thanks in advance for any tips. :)

From your signature, it looks like you'll be staying at POR, which is a Disney owned-and-operated resort. And you said you will be flying JetBlue. This is a perfect combination. You can use Resort Airline Check-in (RAC), which many people think is part of Disney's Magical Express (DME) but really is not.

You can check-in your luggage at the RAC desk at your resort, and then you won't see it again until it's on your home airport's baggage claim carousel. You can also actually check-in for your flight and receive your boarding passes. Since all of this is EXACTLY like checking in at the airport, everyone in the party must be present, show their own ID, etc.

Since RAC is separate from DME, you can check-in your luggage with RAC and NOT ride the DME bus back to MCO -- you can get get back to MCO any way you choose, which in your case would be in two rental cars.

The RAC desk at each resort is open from 5 AM to 1 PM. You must check in at least 3 hours before your flight, but no more than 12 hours before your flight. There have been reports of long lines, so getting in line as early as possible will probably be helpful.

If you use RAC, you won't need curbside check-in, and in fact you can just go right to your departure gate with your carry-ons, because you already checked-in your luggage and you already checked-in for your flight and received your boarding passes.

HAVE FUN!

Cleverocks:

Thanks for the info. I have tried RAC before and was denied because we had a special designation on one of our tickets that required a search, so we ended up not taking advantage of it. It seems that at least 3 out of the last 4 trips someone in our party is pulled aside for a full search at the airport. Usually it is my wife.

Thanks again,
