Cruise out of Miami Questions!

Thinking about cruising out of Miami but never have before. Hopefully some of you can help me feel better about it!

Does Disney have transportation from the Miami airport to port? If not will a rental car agency take us there if we rented a car?
Do you need a passport to get off the boat in Mexico?

I think that's all for now. Thanks for any help. :cool1:

Yes, DCL offers ground transfers to and from Miami airport. You do not need a passport to get off the ship in Mexico. You need your room card and a photo ID, and it is a good idea to bring a photocopy of your passport photo page. Leave your passport in your stateroom safe.

Im thinking of that too! Got my eye on a cheap Wonder in Feb to rebook for when I'm onboard in May...

If you fly in the day before, may I recommend the Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. We stayed there last month for our cruise and it worked out great.
  • Free shuttle from airport
  • A few restaurants in walking distance (Subway, IHOP, McDonalds)
  • Free breakfast
  • Free cruise port shuttle

I've sailed out of Miami on DCL twice and am looking forward to our 3rd trip in a few weeks.

We fly across country so we always come in at least a day early. When we were just spending the one night before the cruise we stayed at the Hyatt House hotel. They picked us up at the airport and took us back the next day. Since we were there mid week they had a "welcome reception" with plenty of food and drinks (free soda, beer and wine). They had salad, soup, nachos, fruit and some other food along with deserts. Next morning there was the breakfast before we headed back to the airport.

Last time we stayed a few days in Fort Lauderdale and had a rental car. We returned it to Miami airport and took the DCL ground transportation to the port (doing this again in a few weeks).

There are less expensive ways of getting to the port - but this helps us get into Disney Cruise frame of mind earlier in the morning! You check in with DCL, give them your checked luggage, wait in the waiting area, get escorted to the bus, verify that they have brought all of your luggage to the bus, ride to the port, verify that all of your luggage is at the port, then go through security and onto the ship.

The Port of Miami area is very scenic from the ship - its not an industrial port on the cruise ship side.

Not sure where you find info for DCL transportation to port of Miami, but I made reservations for it for my Jan 2015 cruise.

It is costing me $80 round trip for myself and my sister.

I also made a reservation for Hyatt House( based upon online reviews I saw).

I too will be flying in a day earlier for the cruise.

The only thing I need to check on is airfare.

$20 per person each way. We got a private car. We are 5 and it was much cheaper.

The airport is literally 7-8 miles from the port. It's not far like Port Canaveral.

From what I have read a taxi is only about 25 bucks. Much cheaper than DCL transportation.

The only issue with Miami in Feb this year was the marathon - which tied up traffic so badly that getting to the port from our hotel was a nightmare. I think in 2015 the marathon is in late January, so you should be safe.

Port to MIA (or MIA to Port) is a regulated price... $25 per ride. DCL is $25 per person (at least when we were on the Magic in Jan)
