Cozumel Off-Shore Excursions

Any insight on the following excursions would be appreciated. Keep in mind its for 3 adults in their 50's that love the water but have bad knees.

Ocean View Explorer Tour
On your Own??

Is it possible to book 2 of these tours? This is our first cruise and I'm in charge of the details. Is it possible to do these excursions and have time left for shopping? TIA

Take a taxi on your own and go to Chankannaab on your own. $10 for taxi, $12 entrance fee for Chankanaab. It has a little of everything, including dining and shopping. If not enough shopping for your taste, have return taxi ($10 again) drop you right past the Punta Langosta Pier, in the heart of the town. Shop to your hearts content and walk back across the street to the ship. EASY!!!

We are very interested in exploring the ruins, this is my #1 reason for choosing the Western over any other cruise. What is the best way to do this?
