Cove Cafe is supposed to be adults only...

While it is true that Guests of any age may be well behaved . . or not . . DCL can not discriminate by behavior. That is always a matter of each person's opinion.

The adult areas are not "fine print." They are clearly marked on the ship, in the Personal Navigators, in shipboard activity announcements, on the DCL website, brochures, and obviously stated as "adult only" areas on the promotional DVDs.

DCL markets their cruises with AGE SPECIFIC areas, be it family, kids' age levels, or ADULT ONLY (although only a tiny fraction of the space aboard the ships is for adults only). They should not make random exceptions. They should enforce their policies in order to deliver what they advertise. DCL is NOT just for kids. It is for everyone, and everyone is meant to have their own age specific areas in addition to those meant to be shared by all.

relax. :)

I skipped a few pages, so sorry if this came up already, but the Disney Cruise website seems to say that Vista Café is designed for "Adults" http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/fantasy/nightclubs-lounges/vista-cafe/ So, maybe it isn't an alternative for teenaged coffee drinkers? I know when I was on the Dream, I certainly saw Vista café as a kid friendly spot, but now the website has me wondering if I missed a sign or something.

No, the Vista Cafe is for everyone. It is probably a place more likely to attract adults, but all ages are welcome.

Yeah I seen where someone mentioned it and was thinking where is the Vista Cafe? We didn't use it and so I didn't even know where it was. :lmao:
There are so many places on the ship and it is hard to know what place serves what. Glad we are getting to go again to check out all the places we missed last time. :thumbsup2 I will also have to try one of the specialty coffees I missed last time too. If I have my teen with me I won't go to the Cove :rotfl:
I wouldn't have anyway. :flower3:

I am posting under a new identity, to protect me, the "innocent," as I'm a CM. :beach:

The last time I cruised I was unlucky enough to have 2 bad incidents occur just outside the Cove Café, within a half hour of each other. I was reading/dozing when a very loud child-chastising session started right by the Cove's door -- a boy of about 9 had been lost and his parents were giving him what for, for 10 minutes (I do not exaggerate). Why they couldn't have escorted him to their cabin or outside the adult zone, I do not know.

Then a multi-generational family complete with grandpa and tweens set up camp at a table near me and were yelling back and forth to members of their party down on the other side of the Cove Café. With that, I folded my tents and left.

Some people just don't know how to act in public.

On the "no one under 18 in adult areas" -- I'm all for it. Our first cruise had me very concerned about how many children would be about, but I was pleasantly surprised at the separation.

A CM posted at the entrance to the adult area would be a good idea -- also, maybe a sign on the counter inside the Cove stating "This area is for adults over 18 -- coffee may be found at XXXX for the whole family." It would be in their line of vision, and the CM would just have to point out the sign. That could only help.

I relax plenty in the adult areas that DCL has designated, including the Cove Cafe. My 20th DCL cruise is coming up and I have not yet encountered kids in the Cove. And no, I have no objection to kids walking through adult areas when necessary, but there is never a valid reason for them to be in the Cove.

It is always disheartening that those of us who do abide by DCL's rules and policies and attempt to encourage others to do so (refusing to jump on that self-entitlement bandwagon) are so often criticized and ridiculed by those who choose to openly defy them. :sad2:

After 23 cruises ( DCL,RCCL,CCL) I can tell you there are just as many drunks on Disney as with Carnival and RCCL.

Late one afternoon on the Fantasy, two adult couples were sitting in the adult pool and were visibly highly intoxicated. Their children (two boys) kept running in and loudly talking and arguing with them; then each time on their way running out, they would purposely knock over a chair or two. On the third time, I told the boys to stop running and turning over the chairs before someone got hurt. One of the mothers used some pretty offensive language to tell me to mind my own business. I spoke up because through this whole episode, the CM at the pool bar (the parents were sitting right in front of him) never said a word to the children but continued to serve alcohol to visibly intoxicated adults.

On the same cruise, there were several highly intoxicated and very loud people in the small Skyline Lounge. You couldn't talk or even hear the music when this went on and the CM at the bar said nothing, we just left. I later asked the Cruise Director if the CMs should have dealt with these two situations, especially since these people had obviously had too much to drink. OMG! He said that the bartenders are not instructed to interfere with guests.

Don't for a minute think DCL equals no rowdy drunks.

This is why I don't go in the adults only areas. Give me a rowdy kid or screaming baby any day over highly intoxicated/loud adults. But that's just me.

I will say I'm a adult and I'm sometimes still carded when in adult only areas. Yeah I look youngish, haha maybe I'm just a unlucky one. I swear I'm 26, but people think I'm a teen lol

Do they not have rules for serving intoxicated people in the USA or on cruise ships? Here in Australia you are lot allowed to serve anyone who is intoxicated, if they hurt someone or themselves because they are drunk they can sue for being served too many drinks.

Sure in the US they might but a cruise ship is definitely not in the US. :confused3

They set their own rules and the primary goal is to make money. If a passenger does something stupid they are the ones liable. Have to make smart personal choices.

I've sailed on over 100 cruises on most of the cruise lines. I have never witnessed the intoxicated adult behavior on Disney like I have on other lines, especially Carnival and NCL. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I'm just saying it's much less likely. Different atmosphere and different clientele.
