COSTUMES NO MORE FOR ADULTS!

Which no one knows for sure yet. The next Halloween party is 9 months away. No telling what policy will be at that point, so no use stressing about it now.

I believe reputable sources have said they have indeed changed the policy. I do remain optimistic that they will change it before then. But since I have to plan my trips many months in advance, I won't be making a Halloween trip.

I'm not sure if you've seen some of the very involved family costume groups, but people generally work on those many months in advance of Halloween. It's not the sort of thing you throw together last minute.

I imagine we'll get our first clue when we hear if they are doing a 24 hour day since they have encouraged adult costumes at those in the past.

I agree we started to work on our costumes already. We have already booked our reservation & plane tickets but I may hold off on buying party tickets. Hopefully by the time they go on sale in the spring they will relax a little with some reasonable rules in place.

Looks like runDisney is going to allow costumes after all! They sent out an email to everyone doing Marathon Weekend and Star Wars Disneyland. Basically costumes can not contain masks and they have to be deemed "safe". Full bib has to be visible as well so I guess no more folding up your bib to make it fit into your costume better.

I didn't get an email...good to know, though. I don't really think my Yoda and R2D2 outfits are costumes, but it's nice to know I don't have to worry about it at all. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry, but I haven't read all posts. Was wondering if this extends to Disneyland, Ca. too? I believe it does. but not certain. TIA

I really don't know about the MNSSHP, and if there are really other reasons and it's not because of security issues, I'll shut up and just be sad :)
As for living in a country full of metal detectors..... I just hope and pray that you never ever reach that point. That's the reality in other parts of the world and it's awful.
But I'd like to feel as safe as possible, thank you. If that means getting my bag checked everywhere, so be it. The US has not and hopefully will not be in that situation.
I feel for you and appreciate your insight.

Got this email from Dapper Days:

NEW DISNEY PARK RULES

Many of you have inquired weather Disney's new park security measures and rules (specifically the prohibiting of wearing costumes by anyone over 14) will end or impact our DAPPER DAY Park outings.

No, they will not. Our events celebrate great style from yesterday and today and are not, and never were, intended as costume or cosplay gatherings. Disney-inspired ensembles are always fun at our park outings, but keep in mind Disney will likely ask you to change your attire if guests could confuse you for a Disney employee or park entertainer.

We're working closely with Disney to ensure our events happen smoothly as we continue expanding our happenings at the Disney Resorts and look forward to all sorts of new activities for our followers with the Disney Company.

Please tell me they didn't really spell whether as weather..smh

Just curious to know if anybody has been denied entry to the parks due to their outfit? Anyone been asked to leave and/or change their attire once in the parks?

When we go in July, I'm planning on wearing my HM Ghost Hostess Tee shirt and headband (both of which they sell in Memento Mori) with either black shorts or black skorts. I will probably wear a tank top under the shirt just in case they have a problem with the outfit. My guess is it will be OK, but you never know.

That's not a costume...that's essentially Disney-bounding. You'll be fine.

I went to Disneyland's Halloween party in 2013. I was wearing a floor length Snow White dress sold at a chain Halloween costume store. I have long curly hair, and Im quite tall. I felt like I looked like a mom dressed as Snow White for a Halloween party. But from the second I stepped out of the car, little girls would gasp and scream "SNOW WHITE!!!" Many of them ran over to talk to me. All night long. I was so surprised. (Also a bunchhhhhh of dudes were like, "Heyyyyyy Snow White!" Eww.)
So not only did I learn that a full length skirt with a tulle underskirt is SUPER annoying to wear on and off rides or on escalators LOL I was learned that to little kids, a big skirt, the red bow headband, and red lipstick means you are in fact, that character. No one from Disney told me my outfit was inappropriate. In fact a lot of cast members asked me if Id seen my stepmother yet, or joked about apples, etc. But as a mother myself, the amount of little girls that believed I was Snow White made me uncomfortable. Just based on my experience, I completely stand behind Disney's decision to not allow adults in costumes, especially at night. If I keeps ONE KID safe from a creeper then its worth it to me.

How prevalent is the perve situation at the parks to begin with?

the're ID is checked before ticket purchases with offender databases

I'm not a perv nor am I in any databases, but I've never given an ID to purchase tickets. Our last trip I bought tickets through Undercover Tourist, which Disney doesn't even have anything to do with. They only check ID when you pick up special tickets, like resident passes and Military tickets (and maybe AP's? Never had one as an adult so I'm not sure), to make sure you qualify for the special tickets.

I bought an outfit from Hottopic and want to be sure I will not be kicked out of the park for wearing it. I will NOT have costume make up on or a wig just the dress, socks and shoes.
