I search through the thread a little but didn't find this info so I'm going to ask.

When we stayed at Riverside last year there was a weekly (monthly?) schedule of resort activities that took place. It was mostly poolside activities and the times for each event but I remember it listing movies under the stars, campfire times, and other stuff as well. I remember our boys playing soccer in a open area at French Quarter with cast members too.

Is there something similar for Coronado Springs? Are there poolside activities lead by cast members? The pool and playground area look like plenty of activity enough, but I was curious anyway. Trying to make plans for 12 people, some of which are going to Blizzard Beach one morning. We are going to meet up later that night at Hollywood Studios, but I am trying to plan the morning for the ones not going to the water park and I remember the poolside stuff at Riverside filling a morning/early afternoon nicely.

Sorry if it has been asked before and thanks!

::yes:: CSR has the Activity Sheet too (actually, every WDW resort does! :thumbsup2)

I posted a bit of information about it several pages back. Here's the link to that post:

    http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=48540490&postcount=1151

This was in February, but the movies started at 7pm (would probably be 8:30-9:00pm summer months). Here was the February movie schedule:
    Sunday: Brave (Rated G)
    Monday: Frankenweenie (Rated G)
Tuesday: Secret of the Wings (Rated G)
Wednesday: A Goofy Movie (Rated G)
Thursday: Lady and the Tramp (Rated G)
    Friday: Freaky Friday (Rated PG)
    Saturday: Peter Pan (Rated G)

    :goodvibes

    nothing listed before 1pm.

We just got back a few days ago from a 6 night stay at Coronado over Memorial Day weekend. We went mostly for Star Wars Weekend. This was our second time staying at CSR, and I have to say its even more beautiful than I remember it, but then everything was in bloom on this trip! Our last stay here was in Dec/Jan 2010, and so cold we didn't even get to use the pool. The resort was completely sold out most nights with a few different conventions there, but we barely noticed unless we went to El Centro for something. The buses were great, I think the longest we ever waited was 10 minutes, and most times it was less than 5 minutes.

I had booked a standard room only (passholder rates) and requested only one thing - close to transportation. We wound up in Rancheros 7B, which was a bit of a hike to El Centro - about 7 min, but I'm a fast walker. We could however see bus stop 3 from our window, which was very close, and perfect for us. It was also close to he Dig site, which is a great pool. We spent Memorial Day at the pool, and while it was busy, it was not packed. I have to say we like the pool and slide better than AKL, where we've stayed the last couple of trips. Lunch choices at the pool were fairly good as well.

Pepper market worked out well for us. Lots of choices and everything was really good. I did takeout back to the room for breakfast most mornings which avoided the convention breakfast rush. BTW - the Creme Brûlée French toast is awesome, and enough for two people. Oh, and you can get *real* coffee in you mug at the expresso bar :)

I'll answer any questions I can about the current status of CSR while my knowledge is fairly current.

    Hi everyone,

We are staying at CSR for the first time this year. It will be a change for us because we have gotten so used to staying at the same 1 place that it was a bit of a downer when we found out they had no availability for our timeframe this year :confused3

Anyhow, CSR it is for 2013 and we are still super excited. Quick question...

We are staying in a standard room, so from what I understand this can be really, anywhere on the property. Are bus stops centrally located? Is there any location where we will have to take a long hike to get to the bus stops?

Or are stops scattered throughout so there is always a stop close by?

    Thanks!

I believe there are four bus stops scattered throughout the property, so you will not have to walk very far. You can check out this link for the resort map which will give you a general idea of the locations. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cspringsmap.htm

Thanks very much for your review! Glad you enjoyed your stay! :goodvibes

Standard rooms can be in casitas 4 or 5, ranchos 6A, 6B, 7A or 7B, or cabanas 8A, 8B or 9A. Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred and cabanas 9B is business class.

Each section has its own bus stop. When going to and from the parks, the buses stop first at the casitas, then ranchos, then cabanas, then finally El Centro. The stops are closest to casitas 4, ranchos 6A, and ranchos 7B/cabanas 8A, but you won't be more than a few minutes to a bus stop.

I would suggest Cabanas. (of course) It's pretty close to both the pool and the main shopping/food/drink area. So excited for you!! It's beautiful there.

Enjoy - no matter where you stay!

:thumbsup2 Yep! We love the cabanas! Enjoy your stay - CSR is a great resort for teens and almost-teens!

You can call and add a request for cabanas to your reservation (or ask your TA to request it if you used a TA).

We are here now. Requested Cabanas online, got Ranchos. Requested again at desk and got it. Overlooking parking lot but I'm fine with that. Room decor is nice. Mousekeeping forgot us 1st night but after mentioning it at front desk they did a really good job the next day. Resort is beautiful at night. Kids love the pool. They thought we were going to Pop so it was a nice surprise. They said Cafe Rix was fine. I'm wanting to try the fish tacos by the pool. Anyone know how good they are? What's good at PM if anything? We are here all week if I can answer any ?s I might know will when I get some free time.

Well that settles it. I was going to do online check in, and request Cabanas, now I'll just take my chances at check in. I was wondering about those fish tacos too. If anyone has tried them, and are they very spicy?

    Have a fabulous time!!!:)

Glad you were able to get a room in cabanas! We have found the front desk CMs to be very accommodating if our requests are not initially granted.

You can request in advance by calling Disney even if you don't want to do online check-in. The benefit of online check-in is to get you checked in quickly and maybe to have a room ready if you are arriving earlier in the day, but if you have a particular area in mind and might want to change rooms, there is not much benefit to online check-in. They can change your room even if you go through the online check-in line, but we generally do regular check-in so we can ask for a particular area before they print the keys.
