This could apply to other resorts and parks....we were at the Contemporary waiting for a bus to DTD and saw the walkway to MK. it got us thinking, is there an entrance to the park at that point? I would think there would have to be but have never seen anything. Just seems that if not, what would be the advantage to walking.

The path leads to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom. The advantage to walking is that you don't have to wait in lines for transportation, and then wait for the travel time to the park/resort once you board. It's usually faster to walk to/from Magic Kingdom.

Not sure if I entirely understand the question, but there is a walkway from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom entrance, yes, you can walk right in to the park (if you have a ticket, of course).

Did that answer your question?

That walk way is one of the reasons sometimes folks try to park there and then walk to the park to avoid the hassle and time for monorail or boat. It's like Polynesian walk way to TTC...which saves you from riding all the way around if you plan to go to EPCOT.

Gotcha! Sometimes the easiest things you just can not figure out. Forgot about the transportation angle. I thought the path went into a side entrance but never saw anything. :confused3. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks!

As PPs have said, there is indeed a path that goes to the front of the MK. We stayed at the Bay Lake Towers in April and we really liked being able to just walk there. The monorail from the Contemporary runs clockwise, so the MK is all the way around the route and its quicker to walk.

that is what makes a deluxe - a deluxe- being able to get into one of the theme parks easily - except for AKL.

the epcot resorts - bc,yc, bw, d&s - can walk or boat to Epcot and HDS.

the MK resorts (polyn, gf, cr/blt) - can monorail to MK and Epcot.

the blt/mk can walk to the MK
Polyn, GF can boat to MK.

FW and WL/VWL can boat to MK as well.

It takes 5-10 min (based on your walking speed) to walk from the contemporary to MK on that path.

you can get to the parks faster. besides walking is good for you.

the monorail that would pick you up at CR/BLT then has to go to TTC, then Polyn, then GF finally MK....

you can walk much faster than it takes the resort monorail (from CR) to get to the MK.

same most of the time with BW, BC and YC - now it is always faster from Epcot to walk to BC, YC. now BW is lots of time the exception - if the boat is on the way - would wait - because BW is the first stop.

for BC and Yc it is most of the time faster to take the boat to Studios - now BW because it is closer - it can be faster to walk. - besides it is the first pickup for Studios.

ssr and okw have boat, bus and walking to DD.

We always enjoyed the walk back to the CR after the Magic Kingdom closed. The well-lit path makes for a relaxing walk as well as time for reminiscing about the day.

Except for all the roaches...lol....those things creep all over that sidewalk late at night!

There is also a walkway that leads from the MK towards the GF...BUT...Don't let it fool you, it randomly stops about half way there?

I always wondered what the point of this was. We made the mistake of trying to walk it at night (along with 2 other families) thinking it went to the GF.
