Connecticut Restaurant Question

I grew up in Fairfield, just next to Southport, but I have never eaten there! Looks like I will have to try it next time I am down that way! Yummy!

For those of us north of Hartford, Southern Ct is sort of like Northern New York. ;)

Funny, Dawn, those of us here in southern CT think of Hartford as part of Massachusetts. ;)

S&S is as good as it looks. Not big on atmosphere, but good food, although it would probably not be recommended by the American Heart Association.;)

HI Dawn! You are so right! I am about 2 miles from Mass, so the shoreline is like a different state!

It is the Red Sox part of the state. ;)

Have you guys ever eaten at any of these places?

They all look good to me, especially the apizza. I mean, I don't know which looks more tempting to me--classic New York coal oven pizza (http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=3825), or New Haven's apizza (http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=318).

I'm gonna say it's a draw--they BOTH look damn good! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have eaten at Colony Grill...excellent pizza. Very different than what many of the pizza places are like in CT because it has a very thin, crispy crust...almost like a flat bread. They were doing flat bread there before flatbread became "trendy". The Colony has been around for years and years too. Again, not a fancy place, but good. Connecticut is a state that is generally blessed with wonderful pizza. New Haven has some wonderful pizza places...Pepe's, Sally's...basically any one of th eplaces on Wooster Street. In Bridgeport, there is Mario the Baker, which has been a fixture for as long as I can remember and I am 45. I lived around the corner from Mario's growing up...even now, I didn't want to move more than 10 minures away from Mario!!!!!

For hot dogs...Rawleys in Fairfield and Mr.Mac's Canteen in Monroe get my vote. For any of you who may be native to the Bridgeport CT area, Mr.Mac's is owned by the people who used to own the Merritt Canteen.

Colony, oh yes, this is an INSTITUTION in Stmfd! Pizza like you've never tasted. Pies are small, so order 1 per person. If you like it HOT, order the Hot Oil. :cloud9:
