Concierge Room on the Dream

We were in 12000 on the MV. Great room, awesome verandah, just be prepared to be stared at from deck 13 if you're standing at the rail. We enjoyed having the lounge right there and having snacks during the day. The castmembers did not come around to our room like on the other ships but we got to know them pretty well in the lounge and on CC. Overall a fantastic experience that will make it difficult not to stay on the concierge level in the future. We were spoiled. :)
Greg

thanks for the heads up :) I will turn and wave at everyone - they will either get embarrassed and stop looking or wave back!

One question - how did you find the "double door" and the inside private hallway? we are really excited about having this room and know we will enjoy the whole trip :)

Disappointed that the Royal suites don't have a second bedroom. Why only 5 max in all that space? Question is actually rhetorical.

In my experience:
once on board, the initial meeting with the concierge staff was very helpful. Instead of running around the ship trying to make changes and putting self on wait list for things, its a much more pleasant experience. You get yourself a snack and drink (alcoholic, non, coffee) and they go over everything you have booked and ask if you want to book anything else or make changes to what you have. There is a rep from the spa and kids club to expedite registration and book spa appts if desired.

I didn't put much stock in the daily "treats" but bringing DVDs and popcorn as well as arcade cards for the kids was cool. On our first cruise, mother nature caught DW off guard so to speak... I called my concierge host and within a few minutes he hand delivered a baggie with any feminine hygiene products one could need .... another time I didn't bring long pants (oversight) and thus could not go to Palo ... my c. host brought me a pair of crew black trousers after I told her my waist and inseam measurements ... next time I'm gonna see if we can get a tour of the bridge ...

They can do little things that can make your vacation experience extra special. For me, its vacation, and anything that helps make it more relaxing, less stressful and more pleasant is worth the extra $

:sad2:Don't get your hopes up for a bridge tour. When we contacted the shoreside team to make our arrangements, we asked about the possibility of a bridge tour. My inlaws will be traveling with us, and my father in law, who is retired from the U.S. Navy, wanted to know if it would be possible to take a tour so my son could see the bridge. We were told that since 9/11, bridge tours were no longer given due to security concerns. However, a couple of times each cruise, they do a virtual tour of the bridge that is shown on the big screen on deck. During one of these virtual tours, a senior officer from the bridge would meet us at a specific time and place on deck to watch the tour, give us a little more in depth information, answer any questions we might have, have a special surprise for my son.

Thanks for the heads up ... no biggie if they say no

We just got off the Dream's 1/30 cruise where I sailed with my 2 youngest DDs in a Category V. We are here in the terminal waiting to board the 3 night portion of our back to back. I just upgraded our Cat. 5b to a Cat. T for this cruise. There were quite a few Vs and Ts available. I will be able to offer a comparison of both staterooms on Sunday.

I do have to add that the concierge service we had on the Dream was the best and most consistent we have had on any of our Magic or Wonder cruises.

Oh yeah, the Cabana on CC... Absolutely AMAZING!!! :cloud9:

How much did you pay to upgrade from a cat 5b to a T? Should I upgrade at port or online. We are sailing on March 3rd.

Thank you,

LC

Yes, we were told the same thing.

But when I asked when we were onboard, were were given the opportunity to do a bridge tour. We were told it was only permitted when we were at port.

Newbie here. Other than having a Concierge available to help with things, what are the main advantages of being in a Concierge level suite? We are not really high maintenance people so am not sure we'd get a lot of use of having a DCL staffer available to help with special requests, booking excursions, etc. I'm guessing maybe muchies are put out and available during the day .... what else?

They are both along the same wall - one is a double and one a single - if you look close you can see the outline in the wall

I did not take as many pictures of the Walt as it was almost identical to the Roy in my opinion except the bedroom but it also had the same kitchen with the wine and cappi maker and full fridge..

Oh thank you so much. We were on the Wonder in a cat 3 and the wall bed was in the master. Just wanted to make sure we wouldn't have to have my aunt in the room with us! :scared1:

we were told the same, but there was a bridge tour on our cruise anyway...
so i would ask once on board......if you're concierge, then i would ask right away at the intro meeting...

the bridge tour was one of the highlights of our cruise, but mainly because we're major geeks....

What time should we arrive for check in?

You can arrive any time you want. Concierge guests get priority boarding. Even if you arrive after boarding has begun, you will be escorted right to the front of the line.:thumbsup2

We did our tour at 10:00 on a sea day while at sea. They were a little more cautious about what buttons the kids played with. They still got to turn the steering wheel as it doesn't do anything while the computer has control.

ours was also on the sea day...i don't recall what time it was at..

WOW!! only $750 from 5B to T!!!!! that's an incredible deal!!!!

I gave the wrong upgrade amount, it was $ 720 for our 5B to T port upgrade.

I have to say that we truly enjoyed the T even more than the V. I liked have living area and dining area. I think main reason is that I spent more time in the suite on the 2/3/2011 cruise because there were more passengers than the previous cruise. The public areas were very crowded. As a result I changed our Fantasy booking to a T instead of the two cabins we booked previously. Life behind the gates was good!! No crowds... peace and quiet.

I do have add that the sound of the gates opening and closing sounds similar to the opening and closing of the cell block on an episode of "Lockdown".
:lmao:

I think the ability to tour the bridge depends on who the captain is on your particular sailing. We stayed in the Walt suite last April and when I asked the Concierge about possibly doing a bridge tour, I was told no. I think the captain on that sailing was Henry.

We were told no with Henry as captain as well. So that might be the answer!
