Complete kids meals - can you modify?

We are eating at a few table service restaurants with our 2-1/2 year old toddler. DH and I will be ordering entrees that may not interest our little one. We would like to order him something but the restaurants (GF Cafe, 50's Primetime, etc.) offer complete kids meals. My son can't eat that much food, plus he drinks water. Can I order just the pasta or the sandwich?

Has anyone tried to order "incomplete" kids meals?

First of all, a small bottle of water is one of the drink choices for kids. And yes, you can order just pasta or just the sandwich. Hasn't been a problem for us with our DD. Enjoy!
