Going to WL soon (8/10). If you've been there recently, please comment on the WL transportation.

Thanks!

We never had any problems. The boat to MK arrived every 10-15 minutes and we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus to the other parks.

That being said we are renting a car this trip to give us more flexibility. For example, we are doing E-night and the boats don't run that late. I don't want to wait in line for a bus as it will be late so we are driving.

Just so you know...

For E-Nights, you are correct in that the boats do not run. However, for WL, driving really isn't your best choice.

You'll have to park at the TTC. Getting there from the WL is a bit tricky. You have to go down Seven Seas to Floridian Way, then to World Drive and loop around at the Toll Plaza. Getting out is harder, because you have to exit out the parking lot, go down World Drive to the crossover, and then come back through the Toll Plaza.

That late at night, you'll have to take the Resort Monorail to the TTC. The Tram will be running, but it's only one tram. This means it could be a 15 minute wait for it to get back. (Or you could walk, and depending on your section, this could take 10 minutes

My suggestion: Take the monorail to the TTC, and then hop the WL bus there. Buses run every 12 minutes on a fixed schedule. It's a 3 minute bus ride, and it beats walking out to the car, and then going the super long way back to the resort.

(On a side note, occasionally the MK dispatcher will run a WL/FW bus from the MK itself once the boat shuts down. It's not a regular thing, it's just a courtesy done when we have the luxury of extra buses, and management approves. Can't promise that it will be available, but there's always that chance.)

Busses and boats leaving WL were great - with the exception of one very busy evening and many, many people all going to Downtown Disney. After 30 minutes and watching the crowd swell at the bus stop, we hopped in our car and drove.

We did have some problems getting home to WL from other resorts (no problems with the parks). Most evenings we took whatever transportation was available to the TTC - where we waited an eternity for a bus back to WL.

The evening boat between WL and CR was also unreliable. One evening we were trying to get back to WL after eating dinner at CR. We made it out to the dock by about 9:30, knowing the boats ran until 10pm. We waited and waited and waited. Finally a boat rolled up near the dock around 9:50 and the captain told us he was done for the night, sorry. So we had to hop the monorail over to the TTC, where we again waited FOREVER for a bus to the WL.

The transporation to the parks was great, but plan your routes thoroughly if you plan to visit other resorts, especially in the evenings after the parks are closed.

We just returned from WL yesterday, and with the exception of ONE long wait to go to Downtown Disney, had no trouble with transportation. We went to E-night, left about one hour before E-night ended, (it was raining hard) and there was still boat service. My recommendation would be to check at the dock before you board the monorail after E-night. You might get lucky like we did!
