Christmas vs New Years in the World

Just wondering if anyone had some thoughts on Crowds--

We could either go Dec 18-22 or Jan 1-5?

I see that Jan 1 is the start of Value Season, but I was afraid that the weekend timing of New Years could make for a large crowd..

Any thoughts!

You're right in that the timing of New Years Day will keep the crowds at peak capacity until the 5th of January. I'm guessing it will probably be a good bit less crowded if you go December 18th.
