Are there many childless people/couples on DCL?

Many here on the boards?

Just curious as to the "draw" of DCL (besides for us Disnyezoids)

sorry if I'm posting too many questions............it's just that Daddy always said "If you don't ask, you'll never know." Momma always said that life was like a box of choc'lates but thats another story

I've cruised on DCL from the time DD was 7 till now when she is an adult....and since she is in college, she isn't sailing with me.

We've seen lots of adult "couples" of all descriptions sailing alone...as well as adult singles sailing alone. These have included grandma with adult granddaughter, mother/daughter, etc. If you want a cruise where you will never see a child, DCL obviously isn't the line for you. However, there are lots of adult activities and areas where children are not welcome. I/we enjoy many of the family activities without kids.

We've been partnered at dinner with several "adult only" pairings and adults alone. SO....I'd go for it. This might explain why I currently have 4 "adult only" cruises booked on DCL. Yeah, I'm addicted.

My husband and I are doing a couples cruise next Fall. I love disney and will enjoy the shows and not walking thru casinos. Lots of other reason...

We will be taking the kids another time.

We have sailed many times just the two of usj and love it, hence the back to back we have scheduled in November. There are many things to do that are geared just toward adults or you may participate in the family activities as well is you want to - or do nothing which is pretty much what we do.

We are a couple only and chose Disney because we prefer friendly, joyful customer service and feel no need for casinos, and because we enjoy having a drink but really have no interest in large numbers of twentysomethings who still find getting fall down drunk the most fun they can imagine. We will see in May if our instincts were correct.

We are celebrating our honeymoon on board the Magic. We are first time cruisers. DCL was a natural choice. I am a Disneyholic! :cloud9:

We are looking forward to both the adult and family activities. Some of the family activities sound like more fun than the adult ones.

We both love kids..so no problem at all. :mickeyjum

It's just DH and I and we'll be taking our 4th Disney Cruise next month. We enjoy the adults only pool, Palo's and the Spa. The cabins are more spacious than other lines we have been on, the shows are of broadway caliber, we receive wonderful customer service...we so much enjoy the total Disney experience at sea!

This is the same for us as well. We also like the quality that Disney represents. We have cruised CCL before and could cruise with them again for about 1/2 the price of a DCL cruise, but the old addage "you get what you pay for" comes to mind.

We have cruised DCL several times, and are a childless couple. And we intend to keep cruising DCL. We always cruise with friends, also childless. We love DCL and the fact that they cater to both families with children and to adults.
They limit the number of children on board, so that they do not overtax their kids clubs and childrens activities. And they have many adult only areas and adult activities. I have always felt that DCL strikes a good balance between adult and family activities. Being a Disney fan really helps make the cruises more enjoyable.

My DH and I did the land/sea package for our honeymoon and did a 4-day DCLcruise last year for our first anniversary. Next year we will be doing our first 7-day cruise on DCL.

My DH prefers DCL to the WDW because he enjoys Disneyland and California Adventure more. So, if I want to do WDW, I have to do that with others, like I am this summer.

My mom and I always travel together and we both agree that we enjoyed DCL better than any other cruise line we have been on. Some people asked us why we would want to cruise with all of the children that are on board, but you know what it doesn't bother us at all. Actually on all of the cruises we have been on there have been large numbers of children on board because it has always been prime spring break time, but we have never had any issues with it. College students on the other had have been a different story. On our last NCL cruise we witnessed a large group of them get tossed off the ship in Cozumel. They were out of control from the get go and at the first stop they were gone. I know not all college students are this way but this particular group was over the top. To this day I wonder how they explained it to mom and dad that they were coming home early.

DH and I cruise DCL for the same reasons as many have already stated..
Joyful service with a young crowd having fun but not falling down
drunk or lewd behavior.
No glitzy suggestive stage shows.
Very little smoking onboard
A beautiful ship with classic looks.
Castaway Cay!
ENFORCED adult only areas

Reason number #1
Wonderful wonderful service!

Hi,
My husband & I have cruised 3 times with disney and we do not have children, we prefer Disney over several of cruise lines. It doesn't hurt that we both love Disney. We find plenty of things to do and enjoy ourselves every time.

We are going in october our first cruise, we will be going just the two of us. there are others on our cruise who are in the same boat, pardon the pun! :rolleyes1 We are very excited

DH and I have taken six childless DCL cruises and one with DS, DDIL and DGD who was 3 1/2 way back then. Next month I'm cruising childless again, this time with a friend since DH doesn't have enough vacation time for this cruise and our planned cruise in Dec. That one may not be childless, though. I may decide to take DGD who will be 9 by then since she told me yesterday that her cruise was the best vacation EVER--of course, it was also her first vacation ever, and her only other vacations have all been to WDW!

Hubby and I are doing an us only cruise next month. Our first one without the kids and we are excited.

DH and I do not have children, and we sailed on the Wonder back in March and are sailing the Wonder again in Oct of this year. We love it! There is always stuff to do with no kids, and if you want to be around mayhem, they got that too. Our fellow table mates were all childless couples too. Disney is wonderful with or without kids!!

'Nother childless cruising couple here! I have to say that my initial draw to DCL was my Disney addiction, but after our first cruise, DH (who is NOT Disney at all ) and I were hooked by the beautiful ship, fantastic staff, amazing entertainment, Castaway Cay, all the adult only areas, and just how wonderfully the whole thing is run. We don't ever want to cruise another line.

My cousin and I are cruising alone in October to celebrate making it to our 50th birthday! She is a cruise newbie but this will be my 4th DCL cruise and I can not wait. Previously, I have cruised with DH and DD7 (along with extended family members) and have loved it. But, I am so excited that this time I don't have anyone to take care of. I am planning on spending my time at the adult pool and serenity bay. I may even get to the clubs and stay up late!!! I would definately recommend an adult only cruise. My husband and I have decided that when DD is grown and does not want to join us (although I can not imagine that, she also cries when we disembark) we will cruise just a a couple.

Linda

I also have no kids but DH and I took our first DCL cruise back in 1999 and its taken us 10 years to be able to get back. We loved the service, amenities and the lack of Casinos and drunks. We work with children for a living, so we like kids, we just never had that overwhelming need to have some of our own. We are not Mouse fanatics, but as business people, we like the way Disney runs things and the ship is clean, friendly and happy. Way back when we first sailed, we were told there were 600 kids onboard - we couldn't tell... :confused3

It seems we're not the only kids-only couple who enjoy DCL, you should enjoy it too :thumbsup2
