Characters

Officially, on the Disney Weddings web site:
Mickey
Minnie
Donald
Daisy
Goofy
Pluto
Chip
Dale

I wonder if you can request characters not on the list?

I wonder if you can request three or four Mickeys? That'd be memorable to have several differently dressed Mickeys running around your reception.

I've only ever seen photos of Mickey and Minnie at weddings. I have yet to see a Chip, Dale, Pluto Goofy, Donald and Daisy.

I dont think they would have several mickeys for a few reasons. mainly because it might confuse the kids, ya know? They dont overlap mickeys in the same theme park either.

Ive heard of people having Stitch at their wedding-- so i'd say its possibly to have others not on the list. Never hurts to ask.:yay:

I've seen Donald and Daisy up close and personal. ;)

I've also seen people use Chip and Dale. I doubt they'd allow more than one Mickey in the room at one time (takes away from the 'magic'), but they'd probably allow it on a rotating basis.

The rule of thumb with the characters, and with DFTW as a whole for that matter, is if you don't ask you might never know. If there's a character you really want, ask - the worst they will say is no.

Beyond Disney's main characters, they don't provide a list becuase the entertainment guidelines change every once in a while. I have seen photos of the Princesses and Princes at weddings as well as characters from the newer pixar movies. I asked about woody from Toy Story because my godson loves him...Disney told me Woody can come to the reception but not at the same time as the classic characters (they keep the non-computer animated characters in separate worlds than the drawn ones).

Whoops...I almost forgot...the 30 minute thing was a question I had too...They say up to 30 minutes because if the characters have made their way around the room to greet everyone and finished photos, they will leave instead of just standing around. The other thing is that depending on where the reception is taking place, the characters can only be in their "outfits" for 30 minutes. That means if you are in a remote location, part of that time is used in traveling to the area so that is why it can sometimes be less than 30 minutes. It's an entertainment thing, not just up to the planner or escort.

you mention remote location as being a factor for how long the characters stay - what counts as 'remote'? We'll be at GF. You think Disney would tell you this if you were paying full price for them.
Also then, if you keep them busy with photo's, dancing etc they SHOULD stay the fiull 30 mins?

I was just wondering where you got this bit of information?

A lot of brides have had them stay for over 30 minutes. They were in no-way finished taking photos at my wedding and literally-- they were there 15 minutes. I dont consider SBP to be a very remote location. :confused3

I feel as though they do not time the characters but give it what might seem like 30 minutes and then the escort makes a point to have them leave. It is basically in the escorts hands considering the characters dont wear watches and are "in character".

You may certainly be right though. Did DFTW tell you this?

As far as which characters can be used, I believe you can use any character (in any costume) with the exception of Winnie the Pooh & friends. We were told that we couldn't use Cinderella in the LS because they didn't "go together"... so maybe they have similar restrictions. We were considering Chip & Dale because DH loves them, but went with M&M in the end and we're glad we did.

Maybe they're only supposed to be "in costume" for up to 30 minutes at a time... and as long as they are behind closed doors, they can change out of their costume, but can't do so in an outdoor location? Maybe some people got them for longer because they had so many people, they didn't want any kids to start screaming or anything who didn't get a picture. I honestly can't say how long they stayed at our wedding, but I did get a feeling like "they're leaving already??"
