Castaway Cay Cabana help for Adults

Cruising in November 2013 with hubby. We wanted to splurge on a cabana for the day at Castaway Cay. By the time we got around to booking the only ones left were on the family beach.

Have other adult couples without kids or adult groups booked a cabana on the family beach? What was your experience? Should we try to snag one on the adults only side if it becomes available or will we be just as happy where we are (cabana #5)?

Thanks for your feedback!

I think you'll be just fine where you are. I'd prefer the family beach to the adult beach because the adult beach is very shallow and I like it a little deeper.

You could also post on your sailing meet thread and see if anyone wants to swap.

I went to a cabana once and to be honest I think it's a waste of a day so many better things to do on CC

My husband and I splurged for a cabana during our Honeymoon cruise and we will definitely say it was worth the money! Yes they are expensive but it's a private place where you can relax and store your things without worry. You also have a cabana staff member who will do everything for you. He brought us drinks/snacks/changed some of our excursions whatever we requested. Super sweet gentleman!

I personally would stay with the family cabana. The beach on the family side is so much nicer than the adult beach. The adult beach is kept "natural" so they don't clear away the rocks/hard shells/seaweed. We went to visit that side and immediately returned to our cabana, it just wasn't enjoyable to us.

Being in the cabana area provide a great element of seclusion and privacy. It doesn't matter if you are on the family beach, you should still feel very much like you are alone and away from the throngs of kiddos on the regular beach.

Enjoy, you won't regret it!

you just need to ask yourself "What kind of beach do I want to be at?"

Family fun, deep water, water slide

or

Quiet, shallow water I can walk around it, no kids

Thanks for all the great feedback and the video links - really helpful!

I think we'll stay where we are for the beach with better swimming!

Mom and I decided to get our cabana on the Family Beach because we wanted the 'cruise ship' view. :thumbsup2 So, no, I don't think it's odd for two adults to have a cabana on the family beach.

We wound up with one on the family beach, the very last one at the end and honestly it was way better.

I found the family beach ones to be a little more secluded as they are at the end of the family beach, and a little hike from all of the play areas where the kids want to be.

The adults one are closer to the start of that beach so more people right in front of you.

Our cabana on the family beach, being right at the end, we had a very shallow beach/water area, but you couldn't go past that section in the water, so no one came down our way, and it was like having our own beach. We couldn't have asked for a better spot.

Oh yeah, this too. We got some great shots of the ship right from our cabana

Which cruise in Nov still has Cabana's? I'd give my right arm for one (I'm cruising Nov 2nd 2013 and they were all long gone by the time I could book, midnight 90 days out!)

However to add something helpful, we had one last year on the family beach and the area is so BIG that even if every cabana had lots of kids, they still wouldn't affect your enjoyment of the beach, cabana or tranquility of the setting. If you can still do it, book it immediately, you won't regret it. (well, until you book your next cruise and can't get one...)

I'm cruising Nov 17th - there were 2 left when I booked, so I snagged what I could. I would keep checking if I were you. I've heard lots of instances of people giving theirs up as the cruise approaches because they decide it's too pricey or they don't need it. Maybe one will open up for you - good luck!

We are two adults who get family beach cabanas. We prefer the private beach (Serenity Beach cabanas do not have their own beach). With so few people over such a wide spread part of the beach, it is a bit of heaven. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas, and you didn't have to save them. You just grabbed whatever was free.

Our party will have 4 adults and 1 15 year old. Would we be allowed to stay in a cabana on the adult side?

Doesn't Disney consider 13 and up adults when charging for excursions?

Disney breaks down excursion age brackets based on the tour contractor's rules and prices and adds a surcharge. There is no DCL-specific age bracket across the board. For DCL-operated areas, like the adult pools and the adult beach, adults are 18+, period.
