DW, her partner, and I were at DLR this last weekend when it was crazy busy. (We were completely shocked at how busy. Dapper Days aside, does anyone know what that was about?) On Friday evening, we heard that DL was at capacity about the same time we were headed in for our Fantasmic dinner package. Thankfully, though the lines at the gate were very long, we were able to get in.

My question is, what do they do if you have a tour booked or a dining reservation when the park closes due to crowds? I suppose the dining reservation can just be cancelled, and I assume that if you call Dis Dining, they would wave the usual no-show fee. With a tour, though, they are non-refundable, and it's not like you can just go take the tour in DCA.

Thankfully, this didn't become and issue for us, but we were curious. Anyone know?

On another thread, folks hypothesized that it was a perfect storm of events. Dapper Days does not usually result in capacity closures at DL, but it was also the last Friday until the end of October when guests would be able to enter DL to see PtN (unless going to MHP), Disneyland Forever, and F! (starting this week, there are MHPs every Friday night until October 30).

There are Stages of Disneyland closure. Last weekend was the Phase 1. So it was only closed to new guests entering the park. If you had already entered you could re-enter. This level also includes allowing guests with reservations in as those have (supposedly) been accounted for in the total. There is a CM with the reservation lists at a separate entrance - to the right I believe- that will confirm your reservation for dining or tour.

Fun fact: On the 60th anniversary debut fiasco May 22, they put the level of closure so high that C33 members weren't even allowed in. Imagine that scenario playing out!

Actually, on Friday, the park had a hard close for just under an hour. No one was allowed in.

Dining reservations - No, you will not get in, and they suspend charges for no shows. (If you have a reservation at Club 33, you will be escorted in, and if the gates have not reopened at the end of the meal, you will be escorted back out.)
Tours - You will be escorted in.
VIP Tours - VIP tours are counted as in the park all day. As long as you have your guide with you, you will be allowed in the exit, per normal.

We actually were one of those that almost didn't make it to my birthday dining reservation on Friday. Luckily they were letting new people in!

I called Disney dining and they said that if I wasn't able to get in approximately 15 minutes after my reservation that I could call them and they could cancel it for me for no cost.

Malcon10t: hey Friend, you appear knowledgable... I won't hold you to this, but curious what the park closure rule is at DL And DCA. Staying Dec 22-26 2015 at CA Grand. Aware I may be nuts with it being 60th and XMas but it is a bucket list item and we are truly excited. Curious if we will get to have a mid day break in our room...

You might get locked out of DL mid day, but it generally reopens after the parade, as many go back to their rooms. I expect all of those days to have a closure each day at some point. With the new parade, all bets are off if they reopen after the parade.
