Canceling a Reservation

I have 3 studios booked for June. What happens to the points if I have to cancel one of the studios?

When considering canceling, also keep in mind your banking window if the points are bankable and you will not be making another reservation in that use year.

It also depends what type of points were used. If you cancel more than 31 days in advance, points go back in to your account in the same manner they were used in the reservation...banked points will still be banked points, current UY points will still be current UY points (and bankable if still in your banking window) and borrowed points will still be borrowed points. Banked and borrowed points will need to be used by the end of your UY. If you cancel 30 days or less, then all points, regardless of the type, will become "holding points" and must be used by the end of the UY the trip is in, and can only be used for bookings made 60 days or less from check in.

Thirty-ONE days. If you wait until 30 days you will be sunk. It happened to me. My in-laws called me to cancel at exactly 30 days (they thought that was the deadline) instead of 31 and my points went into holding.

Good point...yes, when one cancels a reservation with banked/borrowed points, if they have another reservation in that UY that is using current UY points, you can ask MS to reallocate!!

A couple things to consider as others said, what type of points did you use to make the reservation (banked, borrowed, current UY)? and what month is your UY? Also, is this your only trip planned to Disney in your current UY?

Outside of the "normal" DVC rules the PP erionm posted, there are other things to consider to give a good answer to your question for options that might be available to you if you have to cancel.
