Canadians invade the Fort trip report

Tuesday October 23rd
Upset as our pumpkin blowup had a splice in the wire. Darn. Oh well.

Were you able to fix your wire? If not, let me know what you need and I will see if I have it. We will be there Saturday morning.

Wednesday October 24th
Started the day off right with breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. It's our favourite buffet and its a bonus with characters. We purchased photopass plus this time and thought we would only receive digital copies at this breakfast. We were delightfully surprised that we received both the digital and the prints!!! Yay! Once we had all dug into our fave foods: strawberry soup for the oldest dd, Mickey waffles for the other dd, made to order omelette for the hubby and lobster eggs Benedict for me, we enjoyed our breakfast in peace. It wasn't til we were nearing the end of our meal that the characters started visiting. It was nice. We didn't feel rushed and it was one of the better character meals we've had. After greeting Pooh, Tigger, Mad Hatter, Alice and Mary Poppins we finished up and took a monorail ride. The girls decided to "Gangnam style" dance on the monorail.

Good for a laugh. Afterwards decided to take the boat from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk. Spent some hot time in the sun there wandering.

Purchased some desserts at the Boardwalk Bakery to take back to the trailer with us. Mmmmmm. Got back to the trailer around 3:30 and killed an hour before heading out for a surprise. My 40th bday was not too long ago and my boss surprised me with 2 tickets to Cirque du Soliel La Nouba. We kept it a secret from the girls and purchased 2 more tickets for all of us to go. Youngest dd was by far the most excited as she has wanted to go see Cirque back in Canada for well over a year.

Tonight I shared my bday gift with the family and we loved EVERY minute of it. It was simply amazing. All of us raved about it afterwards!!! Got back to the trailer for a super late dinner of trusty ole hotdogs. Lol. Went out looping again before the girls crashed, Halloween decor is getting crazy.

Hubby and I enjoyed a drink in peace before retiring for the night.

Thursday October 25th
After some confusion last night at Downtown Disney where we were quoted $98 per person fee on our tickets to upgrade to Waterpark and More, I sent the hubby to the outpost to clarify. He had an excellent time up there this morning. First he arranged Magical Express for the oldest dd as she has to fly out next Tuesday and get back to university. Then he added the WP & M to our tickets for only $24 per person. Yaaaaa. And then he arranged for our friends arriving Saturday to not only be upgraded to premium like we were but to be in the same loop, site right across from us. Bonus!!!! Productive morning for my hubby!!! Lol. We then made sure we were prepared at the trailer in case it rained (good call there lol) and then headed out to Animal Kingdom.

Started with Bugs Life (oldest dd jumped to the ceiling when the bugs left the theatre, which is hilarious since she knew it was coming), went and grabbed Fast Passes for Expedition Everest and went over to Dinoland to kill time. Girls rode Dinosaur and captured their ride photo with the pp+. We then went back to Everest and all 4 of us rode. Love that ride and the way it grabs your stomach!! Once again grabbed the uber hilarious ride photo and went off towards Africa. Rain started and we took cover til it lightened. Tried on some hats and such. Lol.

Girls went and grabbed Fast Passes for Kilimanjaro Safari while hubby and I took in a refreshment. Nothing like a beer and a margarita to cure all that ails you. Lol.

Took in the Flights of Wonder for the first time ever. It was amazing and saw a bald eagle for the first time ever close up. It was huge! Walked over to the Safari and glad we had Fast Pass. It was one of the better safaris and we saw loads of animals. Walking back we caught a street party band and we enjoyed their music before the heavens opened up. It was almost 5 and we figured we might as well head back. Man did we get soaked!! Had a nice BBQ dinner, quick golf cart cruise before I came back to tackle my work emails. Booooo. Got them done, spoke to my coworker and am now relaxing with a drink while the girls watch Tangled at the campfire.

Great pics, :thumbsup2
happy belated birthday. Sounds like you all had a great birthday surprise.
Love the "refreshment shots":rolleyes1

Sounds like you are all having a wonderful trip and making some great "forever" memories. Thanks for a great TR!:thumbsup2

Friday October 26th
Started out with a traditional yummy camping breakfast before we headed to the Magic Kingdom. First stop: the town fire hall for my firefighter hubby. Not sure why all firemen have a fascination we going there, but they do. Lol.

After a train ride we saw that Splash Mountain was down but we grabbed fast passes in case it came back up, went over to ride Pirates of the Carribean and tour a bit.

Had a delicious lunch at Pecos Bill. We'd never ate here before and loved the toppings bar for the burgers!!!

Went back to ride Big Thunder Mountain and do the meet and greet with Jessie and Woody. Splash was open again yay. Or maybe not so yay. Myself and oldest dd had never been on before so we rode together. Had a blast. Even 'Gangnam styled' the attraction photo. And then.... The ride malfunctioned. We were stuck on the ride for about 25 mins before they got us all off and escorted us from the ride.

I have to say it was a total first for us. Lol.
We decided since Hurricane Sandy was blowing pretty good to head back to the trailer to double check. That was halted as the girls needed to see the princesses at town square. Hubby and I sat on the rocking chairs and relaxed, people watching as it was MNSSHP and the people coming in had some phenomenal costumes.

Watched the flag retreat and headed to the boats. To our amazement none of the boats were running. I assume from the crazy winds. Had to take a bus instead.
Got back to the trailer and pine needles were everywhere lol. Bit of sweeping, some BBQ'd sausage and beans and a glass of wine made for a relaxing dinner. Talked with our friends who should be arriving tomorrow morning but they decided to keep driving as the hurricane made things uncertain. We waited up til they arrived just after 1am. They enjoyed sleeping in the parking lot of the fort. Lol. Better than in the path of a hurricane.....

Saturday October 27th
Had a morning of shuttling our friends from the parking lot to the showers, talking over coffee before getting them checked in. The site that they had originally locked in was given away and they were suppose to be in the 600 loop. Grrrrr. Got them relocated to the same loop as us thank goodness. Their golf cart arrived and we got things situated. Decided to go take in Typhoon Lagoon since today is its last day before refurb. Even though it was a tad cold, we had a blast!!!

Closed it down and headed back for dry clothes, a quick bite for dinner before we headed to Epcot for a bit of food and wine while watching Illuminations.

Everyone was so tired from being up late the previous night, we headed back for a good nights sleep....

Sunday October 28th
Super excited as the 8 of us went for 'Ohana. Took the boat over to MK and then monorailed to Poly. Our friends 8 yr old son was amazed. He loved the characters.

Meal was outstanding and loved our photopass plus group shot.
Did get a message from home and apparently Hurricane Sandy is going to hit home harder than it did here. Our oldest dd is suppose to fly out to Buffalo and then take a greyhound from there to Toronto to Sudbury on Tuesday. Word has it the storm has the potential to close that area. We are unsure at this time what to do with her. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
After breaky we headed to MK and did some rides. Stood in line and waited to meet Merida. My own lil Scottish princess was over the moon to meet her. Fun experience. Next up the fairies!!! Met with Tink and Periwinkle ( her Winter twin sister in case you haven't seen the newest movie lol) and them met back up with our friends to go on Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, Pirates of Carribean. Laughed ourselves silly watching the camel at the Aladdin ride spit on people. No one knew where it was coming from. Lol. MK was having a MNNSHP so we caught a boat at our closing. Beautiful sunset silhouettes.

Caught the HalloWishes shoe down at the beach but it was soooo windy and cool we didn't stay for the electrical water parade.

Hi Tented1,
My daughter loves highland dancing. Good thing as her lessons are about an hours drive away from our house. She also plays Rep girls hockey so we tend to drive her everywhere. Lol.

I was thinking she was just adding some STYLE... but you could be right :lmao:

You're exactly right storyteller!! Altho.... If I had taken the same photo after food and wine... Well you know it would've been due to refreshments. Lol
