Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

My younger daughter can't do Star Tours, either. The motion of the simulator makes her sick.

I can't do the intense side (orange) on Mission Space at all. I really thought I was going to pass out after that ride. I can do green side though.

You may be late, but you're the only rhyming response I've gotten.
Thanks! :goodvibes

Happy to serve

I actually did that last time.
Th
0e cookie sat in our room all night and the next day we were leaving.
It got tossed.

If I'm not hungry, I usually just don't feel like buying.
It feels like.... work?
It's actually unpleasant. I just don't want to do it.
I guess my brain says, "Why are you buying that?"

Weird. I never really gave this much thought.

My wallet and DH wish I had a brain like that

 My DSis is a blonde and I'll occasionally bug her about it.
Not to worry if you didn't get the Annette Funicello reference.
If you don't know it, I can't imagine how you'd figure it out.
It doesn't really look like jello.

Ditto. But even Star Tours I can take it or leave it.
I've never been a huge fan of motion simulator rides.
I guess I want the real thing!

But I do think that it's the best one I've ever been on.

Nope. Sorry, Dawn already guessed it.
But good guess, though!

Well I tried to quote and reply but I ended up posting before I was ready.

And it was hard to get my color. So as I was saying my wallet and DH would like me to ask "why" before purchasing sometimes.

I do remember the Annette Funicello joke, after I saw someone post it here

I'm guilty of skimming replies you caught me! Congrats to Dawn!

Edit: I guess I did see her guess but thought she was joking :)

I personally don't like the new Star Tours. It made me sick. Actually I was already sick to begin with when we went on so it made me sicker.

That's too bad. Did the old version make you feel ill too?
I wonder if it's the video or the motion that does it.
Probably a combination of both, I suppose.

Plus I hate wearing glasses over my glasses.

Yeah, I hear that.
I always think I'm doing something wrong.
"Silly guy. You don't wear glasses on top of glasses!"

We got a Carrot Cake Cookie last time but I was sick on our DHS day so I had a couple bites and let DH have the rest.

I know you weren't feeling great, but how was it?

I can't do the intense side (orange) on Mission Space at all. I really thought I was going to pass out after that ride. I can do green side though.

I did the orange side once.... Once was enough.
I didn't get sick (as in "here comes lunch! Pass the bag!")
but I sure felt lousy for a few hours afterwards.

my wallet and DH would like me to ask "why" before purchasing sometimes.

:lmao:

I knew posting it that some folks wouldn't get it.
I decided I was okay with that.

Edit: I guess I did see her guess but thought she was joking :)

That's okay. I'm reading a few TRs and I have to skim or even skip the replies.
Either that or I cut out some of the TRs.
I just wouldn't have the time!

So, I'm finally caught up and I'm going to say it's a strip of that glow in the dark tape or whatever, between the walkway carpet and the flooring on the way to get into the ride for ST.

I did the orange side once.... Once was enough.
I didn't get sick (as in "here comes lunch! Pass the bag!")
but I sure felt lousy for a few hours afterwards.

We did the orange side once in 2005 before there was a green side and had to pass the bag to both my older daughter and my older grandson. It took me a few minutes to get rid of the queasy feeling, but it wasn't all that bad. We did it again in November, just my granddaughters and I, and we loved it.

I knew posting it that some folks wouldn't get it.
I decided I was okay with that.

I'm glad you're ok with that, because I didn't get it at all.

GREAT UPDATE :cool1:

Time to put the pedal to the metal and scoot over to my first ride of the night
Despite being a relative newbie to your reports, I am already fond of your awesome array of synonyms - I thank you :thumbsup2

are you holding your collective breaths right about now?)

Yup....you best be quick.....

but I excel at skedaddling as well.)
See above :goodvibes

all these other people seemed to think they were invited too.
:scared1: So rude and thoughtless - surely the fact that it's a limo should give them the hint that there's only room for you and perhaps a chauffeur.....

Did you know there's an entire night lit city in there?
Whoah? No way?

Might be a tad faster, though
Maybe at some point Aerosmith should do the music for Peter Pan - that might shake things up a bit....!

and some of you are crying in front of your computers

I'd probably be happier if there was a chicken exit right before you drop.
But then I want to get back on at the end so I can see the props at the bottom.
I like the idea that you might head down the stairs and then meet the elevator at the bottom.

You'll just have to wait a little longer to find out!
:badpc:

And then I had a thought.
I celebrated, because they come so infrequently.

I guess Disney just likes everyone to have that nice and cosy,
close feeling with your fellow complete strangers.

Snuggle rides??

:worship:

Maybe I'd get lucky and not lose him. But I had my doubts.
Foreshadowing??????

I was on my way to Star Tours.
Whoop whoop! (I'm just ignoring the TSMM blip...)

I just didn't think I'd enjoy it very much if I was yanking away all by myself.
............insert tumbleweed smilie here..............................

Scoobymoons - 2 points for pointing out that being across the pond deserves bonus points.
:yay:

I walked the length of the queue without encountering a single person.
Those Fast Passes are crucial at times :rolleyes1

A middle aged or so woman was looking at me with eyes the size of saucers.
"You're not my husband!" She spluttered.
Love things like this!!!! I was once in team taking a group of kids out so we were all wearing identifiable TShirts and had walkie talkies on our back pockets. One of my friends walked up to her boyfriend who was bending over and smacked him hard on the behind. Well needless to say she went a very interesting shade of puce when her 'boyfriend' had miraculously turned into one of the members of staff from the shop we were in!!!
This was me....:rotfl:

He was wearing white sneakers and socks... like me.
And beige cargo shorts... like me.
And a black T-shirt... like me.
His build was... let's say "svelte"... like me. :rolleyes1
He had a distinguished head of salt and pepper hair (;))... like me.
He even had an awesome 'stache... like me.
Insert Twilight Zone music here....
I call it "Tigger after being stung by a bee on the left cheek." :rolleyes1
That makes it art.
Totally....great pic :goodvibes

People may have looked at me oddly.
I'm quite used to that.
I get where you're coming from!!!

Walt played the piano?
That is totally awesome!

I wish now, that I'd had the presence of mind to tell him the park was closing in five minutes.
Maybe it's for the best.
I might have been forced to walk out of the park with this idiot.
I thought exactly the same thing!
I like the glow of Fantasmic! in the background.
Looks almost volcanic (without the lava....or fear....or volcano in fact....)

Because... well... Rice Krispie treat.
:thumbsup2

Well you're going to get it in just a second.
Is that a threat????!!!

The picture.....er...haven't a Scooby Doo :confused3....can I make a request for an 'over the pond' bye???? Pushing my luck? :rolleyes1

Looking forward to more!

I'll call it for you. RnRC.

Here's how I rank the coasters at WDW.

1. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
2. Expedition Everest
3. Space Mountain
4. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
5. Prime Evil Hurl

I've yet to ride Goofy's Barnstormer and 7 Dwarfs Mine Ride.

I think.... THINK... that my list would be
1. RNRC
2. BTMRR
3. EE
4.SM
5. 7DMT
6. Park bench
7. Standing around doing nothing.
8. Sleeping in bed.
9........
10. Prime Evil Hurl

And I haven't ridden Barnstormer either.

Let me clarify this ranking system...

1. RNRC
2. BTMRR
3. EE
4. SM
5. 7DMT
6. Barnstormer

* I haven't ridden Primeval Hurl either, but it would probably take the 6 slot. All the standing around and park bench stuff comes way farther down the list. Is Pirmeval Hurl really that bad???? :rotfl:

a truly wonderful DISmeet ended,

Loved this update. And the meet up. Just far too lazy to return. And I'll get way too self absorbed and grumble about why oh why I didn't guess at the rides.

I didn't want to disillusion them.
Dream on.

F.I.N.E. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Did you know there's an entire night lit city in there?

What? :scratchin :bounce:

Kay has been taking guitar for a couple of years now
and the first concert I took her to (at her request, no less)

Nice.

I was laughing last night - well I guess I should continue this sentence since you're not in my head - I was laughing last night listening to some YouTube concerts/songs. I was one weird child musically. One of my early LPs was Rumours but I had a double album of Gordon Lightfoot too. What was the attraction for a six or seven year old? :rotfl2: Did I understand Sundown? Too funny.

But I had my doubts.

But I had my doubts ---- But I had my doubts. Damn it, I can't remember why I quoted that. Getting way too close to 50. :rotfl: :cheer2:

Maybe I could use my frontal lobe and go back.

Yes, I think I will.

Oh I know, I know, I know. Is this foreshadowing. Did you lose it?

I just didn't think I'd enjoy it very much if I was yanking away all by myself.

I felt guilty. :rotfl:

uh.... Wow, did that ever come out wrong! :scared1:

And then I didn't. :rotfl:

shan23877 - RNR, TOT, ST - 8 points

OMG, Psychic Friend's Network. Well done!

I walked the length of the queue without encountering a single person.

Love that.

I turned to face my accuser.

So dramatic. :surfweb:

But funny. :thumbsup2

And I really enjoyed it.
I hadn't expected to see this, indeed I didn't even know about it,
so it was a nice surprise.

I have not been in since the 90s. Should return. Soon.

He looked annoyed and said. "Yeah? So? Who cares? What time is the park open till?"

I squisha his face.

So, I'm finally caught up and I'm going to say it's a strip of that glow in the dark tape or whatever, between the walkway carpet and the flooring on the way to get into the ride for ST.

First off.... Welcome to the TR Rebecca!
So glad you made it over here! :goodvibes

Clever guess, but no that wasn't it.
Dawn already guessed the answer.
(recap in next chapter)

Not to worry, plenty more points up for grabs.
For instance, did you know you could get points just for asking for them?
It's worked for a few already.
Gotta admit that I'm a bit surprised that not everyone's asked.

We did the orange side once in 2005 before there was a green side and had to pass the bag to both my older daughter and my older grandson. It took me a few minutes to get rid of the queasy feeling, but it wasn't all that bad. We did it again in November, just my granddaughters and I, and we loved it.

I find it interesting that ten years earlier it made you queasy but later it didn't.
Usually, that sort of thing gets worse with age, not better.

I guess you must just be getting younger.

I'm glad you're ok with that, because I didn't get it at all.

I figured a lot of people would get it, and those that didn't... could simply ask.
I am nothing if not a fount of useless information.

GREAT UPDATE :cool1:

Thanks! :goodvibes

Despite being a relative newbie to your reports, I am already fond of your awesome array of synonyms - I thank you

You're welcome!
Forget it!
It's nothing!
My pleasure!
No problemo!
No worries!
Not at all!
Think nothing of it!
De nada!
No sweat!

Yup....you best be quick.....

I seriously considered ending that chapter riiiiiight about there.

So rude and thoughtless - surely the fact that it's a limo should give them the hint that there's only room for you and perhaps a chauffeur.....

I know right?????

Hmph. People.

Whoah? No way?

I had a sneeking suspicion that there were many, many people who had no idea.

Maybe at some point Aerosmith should do the music for Peter Pan - that might shake things up a bit....!

It might add a certain element of
HeadBangingRocker_zpsm1jvhheh.gif
to it.

I like the idea that you might head down the stairs and then meet the elevator at the bottom.

Yeah.... but....
I'd probably never take it anyway.

"Who me? Take the chicken elevator? Ha! I'm a man! Not a chicken! Don't be ridiculous! <buck, buck, buck, buckawww!>"

Foreshadowing??????

Perhaps.... read on.

Snuggle rides??

YES!!! Can we pick whick Disny character we can snuggle with????
I know some would pick Pooh, cause he's soft and cuddly.
Others might pick Mickey or Donald.

I pick Ariel.

For no particular reason. :rolleyes1

............insert tumbleweed smilie here..............................

tumbleweed_zpsoypodre9.gif

Those Fast Passes are crucial at times :rolleyes1

I know! Because otherwise I might have been in the dreaded (empty) standby line!

:lmao: That's hysterical.
Again, shame there were not pictures or better yet, video.

Totally....great pic :goodvibes

Really? I was so sure people would be more like :sad2:

Looks almost volcanic (without the lava....or fear....or volcano in fact....)

Perhaps, but it was high time for me to get my ash out to the bus stop.
So there's that.

Is that a threat????!!!

The picture.....er...haven't a Scooby Doo :confused3....can I make a request for an 'over the pond' bye???? Pushing my luck? :rolleyes1

Looking forward to more!

Yup. That'd be pushing your luck.
And I'm only a moderately easy push over.

Thanks for reading (and commenting!) :goodvibes

* I haven't ridden Primeval Hurl either, but it would probably take the 6 slot. All the standing around and park bench stuff comes way farther down the list. Is Pirmeval Hurl really that bad???? :rotfl:

Is it really that bad?
Hmmm....
Let me describe it for you.
Ruby and I rode it together.
You board your car and go up to the top of the ride.
The ride then turns and goes the width of the ride.
At that corner, a man is standing with a sledge hammer.
He swings the hammer with all his might and Slams! it violently into the car,
causing it to lurch sickeningly and violently over in the other direction.
When the car has traveled the width of the ride in the opposite direction,
another man, sledge hammer in hand, is ready for you at the next corner.

Wham!
Repeat the Smash! several more times until you swear that you will never,
ever do anything so stupid again.

Other than that, it's not bad at all.

I didn't think Primevil Whirl was that bad. DH didn't like it. In fact, he can't stand that whole carnival feel in that area. At Kennywood in Pittsburgh there's one like that but ----- in the dark!!!
The carrot cake cookie was good. I'd get it again. I'm not a fan of carrot cake even. Ok, quick story,,,,,every year growing up my grandparents would take me and my aunt (their daughter) to stay a week on the beach in Siesta Key, Florida. And every year they would get a big carrot cake from the local grocery store. Being young, I thought it was called a carrot cake because there was a big carrot in frosting on top of the cake as decoration. Imagine my horror when, years later, I realized that there was really CARROTS in the cake! Who would ruin a perfectly good cake by putting carrots in it!!!
Anyway, I liked the desserts at Starring Rolls better. I had this amazing this called a banana split. It was banana mousse with chocolate chips inside it! So good. Couldn't eat it all though. We also had a pretty good fruit tart.

So I think your next day will be spent at MK where you will ride 7DMT, Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain. I'm getting my guesses in early to hopefully score a bunch more points. I need to stay at the top of this game.

Loved this update. And the meet up. Just far too lazy to return.

Glad you liked it.
It really was an absolute highlight of the trip for me.
One more big highlight coming up later on (no, not another DISmeet. All done, there.)

And I'll get way too self absorbed and grumble about why oh why I didn't guess at the rides.

But you wouldn't even have to guess now!

More points coming up so stay tuned.

Hah! Another one who didn't know.
I swear this is like a major coup for me.
"I know something you don't!"

Arrrrghhh... I know... I know we've had this conversation before.
I even went looking for it (to no avail.)

What does F.I.N.E. stand for again?

I was laughing last night - well I guess I should continue this sentence since you're not in my head

Actually... I am in your head.
I know everything you're thinking.

You were laughing last night while listening to some YouTube songs.

I was laughing last night listening to some YouTube concerts/songs.

See? Toldja.

I was one weird child musically.

Weren't we all?

One of my early LPs was Rumours but I had a double album of Gordon Lightfoot too. What was the attraction for a six or seven year old? :rotfl2: Did I understand Sundown? Too funny.

 How many romantic affairs had you had by the time you were seven?

Oh I know, I know, I know. Is this foreshadowing. Did you lose it?

Well, that would be telling, no?
Read on!

OMG, Psychic Friend's Network. Well done!

So you're saying that you guessed the right rides and sent them psychotically... I mean psychically to Shan?

I have not been in since the 90s. Should return. Soon.

I wouldn't put it high on my list. But since I never even knew about it, it was a nice little surprise.

I squisha his face.

 I'm crushing his head!

I didn't think Primevil Whirl was that bad. DH didn't like it. In fact, he can't stand that whole carnival feel in that area. At Kennywood in Pittsburgh there's one like that but ----- in the dark!!!

In the dark???? So you can't even yell at your partner, "For the love of God! Hang on! There's another bend!!!! Ayiieeeee!!!"

This is a transcript of the time Ruby and I rode it.
"Ow!" "Ow! Hey that kinda hurt. <nervous laugh>"
"Ow! I thought the first time was a fluke!" "Ow! Me too!"
"OW! This is really starting to suck!" "OW! No kidding!"
"OW!! When does this thing end?" OW!! Not soon enough!"
"OW!!! Lemme off!!" OW!!! Oh Gawd!"
"OW!!!! Stop it! Just stop it!" "OW!!!! Enough! Uncle! Uncle!"

At which point we threw ourselves bodily from the ride, crashing to the ground,
breaking several bones in the process.
Which, frankly, was less painful than the ride.

The carrot cake cookie was good. I'd get it again. I'm not a fan of carrot cake even.

Okay, good to know.
Maybe next trip, I'll remember to keep an appetite for it.

 Carrots? In carrot cake? What next? Bananas in banana bread???

Anyway, I liked the desserts at Starring Rolls better. I had this amazing this called a banana split. It was banana mousse with chocolate chips inside it! So good. Couldn't eat it all though. We also had a pretty good fruit tart.

Oh, geez. I totally forgot about Starring Rolls.
I've never even been there.

Putting it on my to do list. Along with the chocolate peanut butter cupcake.

So I think your next day will be spent at MK where you will ride 7DMT, Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain. I'm getting my guesses in early to hopefully score a bunch more points. I need to stay at the top of this game.

You really want those points, don't you?
We'll see if you're right or wrong.... probably in a few days.

Arrrrghhh... I know... I know we've had this conversation before.

What? No we haven't. Have we? :rotfl: I was just commenting on your clever use of an Aerosmith song with another Aerosmith song.

But please know that I did get great joy that you wasted your time searching for it.

 How many romantic affairs had you had by the time you were seven?

You know who the song is about? Apparently he dated the woman - wait not dated, cheated on his wife with her - who gave the fatal overdose to John Belushi. Great pick by both of them.

sent them psychotically... I mean psychically to Shan?

Hey, watch it! :goodvibes

No, I only got the first two rides correct. I was really just biggin' up Shan. (After considering if you were stalked that night of course. :lmao:)

Hey! Did you figure out a way to keep the colours in the reply? Or did you just get lucky?

Huh. I coulda' sworn.... :confused3

And thank you for noticing.
I was hoping someone would!

But please know that I did get great joy that you wasted your time searching for it.

:sad2: So not surprised.

You know who the song is about? Apparently he dated the woman - wait not dated, cheated on his wife with her - who gave the fatal overdose to John Belushi. Great pick by both of them.

Yes. But only after I googled it after your first post.
I had no idea that song was called that.
To me it was titled: "You know, that song, by whatsisname, you know, yeah."

Of course the second I listened to, oh... the opening note, I knew it right away.

No, I only got the first two rides correct.

Ah. Well, good try!

Hey! Did you figure out a way to keep the colours in the reply? Or did you just get lucky?

No. I (sort of) figured it out.
But it's still a pain in the ask anyone.

1. Quote as many sections as you want.
2. Insert quotes.
3. Shake head sadly at all the quotes that didn't include font formatting.
4. Click little box in top right corner labeled: "Use BB Code Editor"
5. Painstakingly copy (or worse, create) proper formatting and paste to each and every quotation that didn't work.
6. Repeat for the end of each quotation.
7. Click "Use Rich Text Editor" to get out of the BB Code Editor.
8. Continue on your merry way and let your unsuspecting readers believe that quoting them is as easy as pie.
