Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

Can I guess an either -or? No? Okay it looks like a radio knob at PTC No laughing if it doesn't. I've never been there :)

Not laughing. That's a good guess. I can't say if you're right or wrong though.

I though Pecos was too obvious. I knew I should go with that because well, burgers.

Always go with your gut!
Or in this case... my gut.

Nice pics I'm sure the guy demanding pics was just noticing your professional skills.

Hmmm.... So you're saying I should rescind the hit I put out on him?

Maybe you were wearing a khaki vest over the Harley shirt.:-)rolleyes1

Not a bad idea! Impersonating a PP photog.
Can they throw you out for that??

But it couldn't happen. I didn't have room in my one carry-on for a vest!
(I actually do have a photo vest. Tons of pockets and straps for camera gear.
Very handy.)

people are so rude. They wanted the spot you were already standing in. Therefore you should move. Because they wanted that spot. They are the only ones who matter. They paid a lot to be there. The rest of you got in free and should make way for them.

Tell me about it.
I despise people like that.

Come on! Think of others just a little bit! A tiny bit!

Does it help that I keep torturing myself with these images?

No.

Well... maybe. Yes.

I would love to have one right now, too.
I really did want to try to get one at every spot, but just didn't make it to the Poly. Figured that Epcot was a limited engagement. =)

I want one too! If you're getting one, I want one!

Never knew they had them at Epcot! Where are/were they?

Bus ceiling?

Good guess.
Might or might not be right.

And all that I can tell you did was seamlessly switch narrators. :)

Hmmm... Nope, not quite what I'm looking for.

I got so far behind!!!! I'm very sorry to have abandoned you, but I'm even more sorry that I let Andy get ahead of me

I'm sorry too! That you got behind.
Getting back in front of Andy is something you'll have to do on your own!

Isn't Celebrate the Magic the BEST??? I love it beyond all reason.

::yes:: I really liked it! And it seemed to be over so quickly!
That's a good sign, no?

I never knew that about the onions. Makes total sense now.

Sure. It's obvious once someone points it out, right?
I mean, what else could it be???

I always seem to encounter people like the personal space folks. When you're as small of stature as I am, people tend to think they can just relocate you. Little do they know--I'm mean.

:lmao: I believe you!

I don't think I've done CoP since 1985. Was it by chance sponsored by GE back then?

I made sure to double check, but yes it was!
Although COP closed in March of 1985 when GE sponsorship ended.
GE was responsible for the change of song, too.
They didn't want anyone to wait for a "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" to buy their stuff.
They wanted them to buy now!
I clearly remember "Now is the time! Now is the time!"

I know at least one ride was because my grandpa (who took me to WDW) worked for GE and insisted that we see the attraction presented by the company. I'd give anything to take him on CoP now :goodvibes

Awwww....

Don't be ashamed. Fixin's Bar has entranced all of us. I think everyone loses their mind a little in the face of all the choice-and radioactive cheese substance.

<Phew!> Okay, so it wasn't just because I'm a dolt.

I plan to stay current now sir, thanks for the chapter

Thanks for reading! And I'm going to hold you to that promise!

I'm going to skip ahead on the shout-outs, because some things just can't or shouldn't wait.
Hope you all understand...

Waaaaaaaay too busy killing fake patients over here to care. Today was the single most stressful day I've had in years, and left school almost crying. I need a trip to Disney.

Aw, @Steppesister. So sorry you're having such a bad/hard day, Liesa.
Remember that you're going through the rough stuff to prepare you for those hard days and to get to the good ones.
We're all thinking of you. :grouphug:

Draw up a nice warm bath, pour yourself a bucket of wine and grab a good book (or DIS if you prefer.)

1st Sentence: written in 1st person
2nd Sentence: written in 2nd person
3rd Sentence: written in 3rd person

Ding!
That's exactly right!
Bonus points for Cpt. O!

I'm sorry, the judges have ruled that "ruining my appetite" is not sufficient justification for not getting a Dole Whip float.

I know! I KNOW!
I'm a total dunce for not grabbing one.

Thank you for your confession. Do 7 Hail Marys and one good deed for a stranger as penance.

Okay... Done the Hails.
And on the drive home, I saw a little girl running after a puppy.
The puppy was trailing a leash, so I assumed he stole it.
So I swerved and got him under the passenger side rear tire.
That dog wasn't going to ever steal again!

Does that count as a good deed?

Depends on the President.:rolleyes1 But you can also take a nice nap in air-conditioning.

 Yes, I'd heard that.

Sounds like you needed to liven things up a bit.

:rolleyes1 Maybe... Maybe...

Unless it's a vegetarian lasagna, right @afwdwfan ?

No real man would ever be caught dead ordering a veggie lasagne.
Don't be ridiculous!

For the most part. Sometimes it brings out the entitlement in people, too.

Unfortunately, yes. Sometimes it does.
But then there's those magical times when.. well...

Oh, your story is way better.

Well, I thought so!

No, I absolutely would rather watch the Terminator version!

Who wouldn't?
Look what changing the storyline did for Star Tours!

@Steppesister

haha-nelson.jpg

Nice to see some good sportsmanship....

Excellent work!:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I must admit to smirking a bit (a lot) when that happened.

You're going to make me post that Nelson photo again??

Thrice wouldn't be nice.

That imaginary kid is a jerk. I'd give him a wedgie if I were you.

I gave him an imaginary atomic wedgie!

Well, to be honest, it looks like the thing with the doohickey.

Oooohhhh... so close!

But if you need me to be more specific, I'll guess a knob/part of the dashboard in the front of a Disney bus.

Another good guess!
Might or might not be right.

In some people... or it brings out the worst.

True... but I like to think there are more of the pleasant variety.
Unfortunately, it's the other sort that stands out.

Rookie mistake. I knew where this one was heading.

I don't know what the heck I was thinking!

I refer you back to my first comment.

And I to mine!

The first time my family went to Disney we were singing that song for weeks after returning.

And that's why I was so confused!
Here, after all these years, I could still remember (vaguely) the song and.... What?
That's not even close to what I remember!!

As for the picture. I'm going with the door of the in-room safe.

Another great guess!
Are you right? :confused3

Well, it looks like Mark has it covered.

::yes::

Bummer. The skipper makes it or breaks it. I know what you mean though. An average skipper is still an ok ride. You get all the jokes and the experience, but it is that skipper that is just above and beyond that really makes for a memorable ride.

Ya know, he was okay. I really didn't mind.
I kinda listened and kinda just sat back and relaxed.
It was... okay.
And I was okay with that.

Just not an "Oh wow! What a great cruise/CM!"

We all have our moments.

True. But at least I didn't do something really bad, like... oh, I dunno... order a veggie lasagne?
 That's crazy talk! No self respecting man would do that!!

Well, because I'm sure the theater was filled to about 20% capacity if it is a normal day. :rolleyes1

Actually? It was probably closer to 10%.

Not as much as the American Adventure at EPCOT.

Really? Huh.
I know when I last saw that one.

1987.

Um... good luck with that one. I'm impressed that you went through with it and met Tink!

But no visit to Ariel's Grotto?????? :confused3

This one had a FP+ for it and believe it or not, I played out that whole scenario in my head before I took it.
Thought it would make a funny story.

Besides, I have to save some reason to come back!
(Pretty sure I already had a few pics of her.... :rolleyes1)

It brings out the best in some people. The worst in others. As you would clearly experience...

Yup. But like I said to foreverdance, I like to think there's more nice people,
just the bad ones stick out more.

::yes:: There was blooooood on the saddle.

I love that there are some people who get offended by that.

You might be on to something. If only they could get the rights to the Terminator attraction from Universal.

<sigh> I guess it's not likely to happen then.
Oh, well.

If you don't make a mess, you aren't doing it right.

That's true, isn't it!
I always say that a burger isn't good unless you leave most of it in a mess on the plate.

But this time the mess was because I was a dummy.

Woohooo!!! Moral of the story: Keep guessing the same thing and you'll get it eventually!

Yeah, but if you guess that when I'm at Epcot, I'm gonna wonder about you.

I mean more than I already do.

And an excellent choice! Awesome pictures!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Very nice of you to take the picture... you know aside from losing the email.

I really felt bad about that.
Probably a lot longer than they cared about it.

But you were at the Indy 500? No kidding? I used to go every year. I attended every race from 1990 to 2011, but I've missed the past few. It is just a bad time of year for me.

::yes:: Then we were there at the same time. I first went in... 2008? And last time was for the 100th anniversary in 2011.
Contemplating going next year for the 100th running. Don't know. Don't think I can swing Disney and Indy in the same year.

Funny story about my first time. That's when Danica mania was sweeping the Indy scene.
There was a woman at my work whom I was friends with,
she jokingly says, "Hey! We should go to Indy!"
(She'd never been either.)
I walked out of the room, phoned Ruby,
"Hey! Do you care if I go to the Indy 500? With B?"
Ruby says, "In separate rooms, right? Sure."
(Turned out to be separate hotels.)
I walked back into the office and said, "Okay. let's go!"
And we did!

Thank you. (It didn't hurt that they were smaller than me.

I know @Captain_Oblivious already posted this one, but it is just too appropriate...

I was really glad to see that happen.
Karma's a beach, man.

Regardless of what is or isn't young, excellent choice!

I thought so.

They should just admit their mistakes and change it back.

It really is! One of my favorite Disney theme park songs.

And I was so confused!
I was all set.
Nice and comfy... okay! Here we go! "Now is the time! Now is the..." What the heck?

True. 20 minutes is a long time when you're tired and just want to get back to the room. But it could be much worse.

Oddly enough, waiting 20 minutes in Florida doesn't seem as long as 20 minutes in -40 degree winter weather... in a blizzard.

Why not? I'm sure you wouldn't be the first. Nor the last.

:sad2: Unfortunately, true.

Then get on with it!!! Tell us!!!!!

It's killing me that I can't!
I don't want to ruin the reveal!

I so want to post "Guess what I did?!?!? Guess! Guess! Guess!"

As for the contest... I'm going to say the bottom of the refrigerator.

Not bad.. Not bad...
But right?

:confused3

Jingle Cruise - I never would have guessed that! (And obviously I didn't...)

I tried! I tried to make it as easy as possible! I really tried!

I've only been on that attraction once, as my DD had it placed low on the list due to her "lame-o-meter", which is why I decided to go by myself, lol.

 I love that "lame-o-meter". So much like a thing a DD would say (I know mine would, too!)
And really... unless you grew up with seeing it on TV, I can easily see her thinking it was lame.

Clearly I need to do a better job on her upbringing, as she also thinks that even the special parades and fireworks at MVMCP are also lame - clearly wrong!

Okay, now she's going overboard!
Methinks she doth protest too much.
"I love it... but I can't let Mom know!.... Lame!"

It looks like Tink was upset that it took you so long to come visit her, so I'll have to stay with Team Girl and say that clearly she was right in this case.

My first thought was, "Oh, sure. Stick up for her!"

But you're probably right.

But very yummy looking burger.

I'm trying to remember... Might have been my one and only burger?
I'm tired and I don't feel like re-reading my notes.

But that one sticks out.... it was good... and I was a dope.

I don't think there is any way that a Pecos Bill's burger can be assembled or eaten neatly, they are just to be savoured.

It was good!
And thanks for giving me the out in the useless twit department.

I'd have to say that Celebrate The Magic and Wishes are my favorite part of the day at Magic Kingdom.

It's definitely hard to beat!
I'll always remember the first time I saw fireworks at MK.

I told people about it for years!

I don't have a good sense of smell, so never realized that the tears are onion related, but I just love those shows, so much so that I bought the music so that I can get a fix at home whenever I need one.

I've never done that.
I don't know if I could.
I love the package, the music, the sights, the sounds, the crowd.... everything!

I'd be afraid that it'd dilute it somehow, or not have any affect on me.

Oh, I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.
Squirrel!

Splash Mountain - no can do, and I don't know why - it's clearly safe, but one section of my brain doesn't believe in rational thinking at times.

I'll cover this in a later chapter, okay?

People Mover and Carousel of Progress - now those are more my "speed"!

I like the coasters. BTMRR, RNR, EE...
I wasn't even planning on riding WEDWay or COP.
But I was there, and so were they, so...

I've only heard the current song at COP, so for me it's just classic I guess.

And I'd only heard the other one.
It really was jarring.
I was all set to say to myself "I remember that! I love this song!"

And it was completely different.

As for the picture, I originally thought it was the underside "foot" of some type of furniture., but that's pretty serious business flipping furniture just for a picture, so I'm officially guessing a door stop.

Good guess!
You may be right!
You may also be wrong!

OMG an amazing MK day.

It really was! By the time the day ended, I really felt like I'd made up for the last five years of doing without.

I can't believe that guy who thought you were a PP photographer...what a psycho the way he was acting.

It was just so... Really???
Do you talk to your Mom or girlfriend/wife that way too?
Jerk.

No one should be like that at Disney (or anywhere else really lol)

::yes::

I can't believe I got 2 points!!

You did!

I guess I better keep playing.

Ya can't win if ya don't play!

No clue what it is though...a doorstop?

Another good guess!
It could be.
Maybe.

The picture is the bottom of an radio/alarm clock.

Hey T-Man!
Nice to see you're still checking in.

Very good guess.
You may even be right.
You may be... May not.

Underside of your carrion, er, carry-on?

Another good guess, Marie.
But the underside of carrion would be kinda gross, no?

You wrote in 1st person, 2nd person and then 3rd person. I know. Way too late.

Yup.... and.... yup.

You really think you could have gotten a date? Hmm?

Well, I can't say for sure.
He might have already been taken.

A Dole Whip is totally worth it!

I know! I was such a fool.

You should copy write that and then see if it catches on.

We're half way there! I did write it and you copied it!

One of my favorites.

Um. Which?
That part of Wishes?
The song?
Pinocchio?

I'm crushed.
So cruel.

So you KNOW you're crazy. Good. Not everyone picks a fight with Tink. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

What problem?
I never said it was a problem.

I like to think of it as a bonus character trait.

On the Disney resort bus, it's the wall behind where the scooters/wheelchairs go.

Good guess!
Wait and see next chapter if you're right.

Suffice to say, the only... ONLY! reason I got this...
Was for you guys.

Of course you did. Although I did think it was Ariel, not Tink.

I thought about getting another Dole whip float,
but didn't want to ruin my appetite

Is that even possible?!?! Cuz, I'm pretty sure 2 would go down pretty easily...

By now, the non-directionally challenged will have deduced
that I'm heading to Pecos Bill's for dinner.

You screwed up. First of all, because Cosmic has really great food from what I hear, and secondly, because I didn't get a point because you didn't go there.

"Oh it's the Disney theme song!" and not even know
that it's originally from Pinocchio.

I actually DID know that. Go me.

While I have some nice memories of MSEP,
it just doesn't hit me in the gut like Wishes does.

We have a fair amount in common so far, but sadly not this.

Of course you did. Although I did think it was Ariel, not Tink.

A perfectly reasonable assumption.

Is that even possible?!?! Cuz, I'm pretty sure 2 would go down pretty easily...

I already said I was stupid!

You screwed up. First of all, because Cosmic has really great food from what I hear, and secondly, because I didn't get a point because you didn't go there.

Next time I'll check with you first.

I actually DID know that. Go me.

I considered making it a bonus question, but it's too easily Googled.

We have a fair amount in common so far, but sadly not this.

I know. But I have weird memories of it.
I'll go into it if you want.
It's nothing dramatic or anything.

That would be true, except I haven't the foggiest idea of what photo could possibly be of. My only guess is a rubber stop of some sort like on a bus door maybe.

Noted. Good guess. Won't say if it's a great guess or not.

The picture is actually the bottom of the telephone in your room. T-Man was close but I'm getting the point for this one! I'm in second place. Just have to get ahead of Andy now!

I can't believe you didn't go to CHH! It's our favorite! I've never even been to Pecos Bill's! In pictures of the place I notice the chairs don't have backs on them! After walking around and being hot I want a seat with a back on it! Plus I have back problems so I may never get there.

Sorry it took so long to reply but I took a muscle relaxer and those knock me out for a day and a half!

Waaaaaaaay too busy killing fake patients over here to care. Today was the single most stressful day I've had in years, and left school almost crying. I need a trip to Disney.
Sorry to hear. I hope today is a better day!

True. But at least I didn't do something really bad, like... oh, I dunno... order a veggie lasagne?
 That's crazy talk! No self respecting man would do that!!
What kind of idiot would do that??? :rolleyes1

This one had a FP+ for it and believe it or not, I played out that whole scenario in my head before I took it.
Thought it would make a funny story.

Besides, I have to save some reason to come back!
(Pretty sure I already had a few pics of her.... :rolleyes1)
Yeah, I think I remember seeing one or two of those...

I love that there are some people who get offended by that.
There are some people who apparently are offended if you don't offend them.

Yeah, but if you guess that when I'm at Epcot, I'm gonna wonder about you.

I mean more than I already do.
Hey, it could be done. The monorail makes for an easy park hop.

True story, DW and I once hopped from MK to EPCOT for lunch just because we wanted nachos from La Cantina.

::yes:: Then we were there at the same time. I first went in... 2008? And last time was for the 100th anniversary in 2011.
Contemplating going next year for the 100th running. Don't know. Don't think I can swing Disney and Indy in the same year.

And we did!
Cool! I'm glad you were able to go. I know you weren't at that one, but I remember Danica's first race when she temporarily took the lead. Anybody who was a real race fan and could understand the pit strategy and how they were cycling had to realize it wasn't going to last long, but I'm not sure I ever remember another time that you could hear the crowd over the roar of the cars when they were at speed under a green flag. Just insane!

They should just admit their mistakes and change it back.
Disney never makes mistakes. Don't believe me? Just ask them.

And I was so confused!
I was all set.
Nice and comfy... okay! Here we go! "Now is the time! Now is the..." What the heck?
But I'm sure you had the new song down by the second scene.

(I would make this TR three times as long!)
(No you wouldn't.)
(Yes. Yes he would.)

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what I just did there.
Because I'm quite proud of myself for doing it.
That's why.
You just had a conversation with yourself in first second and third person. You know they have medications for that don't you?

bankr63 - Barnstormer - Golden Oak - waffle fries, BBQ pork & slaw - 0 points
bankr63 - 1 point for the Gaston story.
bankr63 2 points

Okay, so go big or go home didn't pan out. Since I'm already home, can I go to Disney instead?

The clip was very similar to the interaction we saw. Indeed some of the lines were identical; I read here that Face Characters often have their lines down and this could have been the same CM we saw. But our little one was actually dressed as a princess, which made it even more priceless. Not so sure about the "go to kitchen and make a sandwich" line; that was a bit over the top for Disney.

Well I'm not in last place. I'm number 20something, I'm number 20something...

THE CONTEST.
At the end of each Disney day, I will reveal a previously
never before seen Disney photo!
First person to guess it gets the points.

Here ya go. Have at it.

IMG_0501_zpsd4y4cgz3.jpg
It is the bottom of the clock radio - rubber foot, mfg label to right, and 9V battery compartment at the top.

The song When You Wish Upon a Star.

What problem?
I never said it was a problem.

Really? I heard Tink was ticked... and she holds a grudge. I might be able to run interference for you, but you have to admit you're crazy and get some help or next trip you'll have to watch out on the Peter Pan ride. Your ship just might not fly.
