Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

This sounds so familiar. I have a 15 year old DD. I swear it's like a magazine cover shoot every morning before school! She gets up at 5:30am to catch a 7:30 bus...eating is only 10 minutes of that, because the priming and pruning is obviously more important

"Pruning" :lmao:
That's pretty accurate.

Typical conversation in our household:
"Kay are you ready to go?"
"No! When are we leaving?"
"Five minutes! How much longer until you're ready!"
"At least an hour!"

You're on to something here :) A quick story to back up your extinction theory #2 (it could have happened, right?). This one is a honest to goodness true story, and here's your Newfoundland history lesson for the day. Bison were brought from Alberta in the 1960's to a small island here in an attempt to establish a herd, but being native to the prairies, the bison simply walked off the cliffs of the island to the sea below (plus some scientific-ey stuff about different vegetation, nutrition, blah, blah) So, there you go, your dinosaur extinction theory may have happened...seriously! (If you or anyone should have the interest in the full story, Google it: Brunette Island Newfoundland)

I did Google it and read a very interesting PDF file on it.
I tried not to laugh at the image of the bull blowing bubbles when it and it's crate fell in the water.

I have been on Dinosaur with my teenage DD, just the two of us, but I did not get my hand held. I have to say, that's a real heart melter right there.

Maybe you need to find something that truly terrifies her.
Just sayin'.

:rolleyes1

Even if you write nothing else in this report, that wins it, right there!! :rotfl:

 Thanks!

Great idea. I need to try something like this with my girls next time.

As long as you give me full credit for the idea.
How old are your girls?
(I may have asked that already, but I'm dumb, so... there ya go.)

Why does a (terrible) movie idea suddenly pop into my head...Frozen 2: Frozen Goat - Sven Gets a Friend :p

Entirely plausible.
And do you think Disney will give me some royalties?

Noooo!

So, my answers for the contest:
Hollywood Studios (seems like a good choice for the other half day, plus it seems a ride on RnRC is in order)
Sci Fi Dine-in (in case you decided to try something different than last trip)
50's section, pool view, top floor (although you asked for 60's, I'm going to shake it up and guess that 60's wasn't available and you got a room overlooking the bowling pin pool)

Noted.

So get to writing!!!
Or take the dog for a walk with the cool leash someone sent you.

Okay! Okay!
As a matter of fact, I just finished posting the last comment on the last TR that I needed to.
So.... I'm off!

(No, it is entirely unnecessary to tell me that you already knew I was off. I'm well aware, thank you.)

How cool! During Food & Wine too! I'm going to be there starting the 18th and leaving around the 28th!!
Have a great trip!! pixiedust:
Back when we went for honeymoon there was no F&W. When we traveled the few times with kids we went the same time of year and that's when it started and has grown to a month long event now. We really enjoyed it and knew we'd want to be able to do that for anniversary. I'm worried that it's so popular that the crowd level will be a lot larger then we use to have back in 2006. Love to hear when you get back what you thought.

Ask me to tell you about the "dog and butter" incidents some time
Please do tell! My imagination is wondering.. pet dog and a stick of butter....hot dogs and peanut butter?

I looked her straight in the eye and told her, "No. It's my wife's turn."
Take that!
Dad never cooked, so I never thought "wouldn't be nice to marry a man that cook" Daughter had a friend who's mom stayed at home and husband was the one who cooked. She had me get a recipe from him of a blueberry biscuit with lemon icing! Hubby isn't hopeless, its just I usually made meals. He does have some 'official' items-frozen pizza (i'm too tired YOU can handle that), goulash, grilling in summer and mother's day breakfast (and few other times) eggs in a basket.

An October anniversary! We just celebrated our 25th a few days ago.
:lovestruc Aww Congratulation! Hope you had time to spend together!

 Okay. Tell you what.
Since a couple people wanna know, I'll include it in the update.

Interesting.
Both my DDs tell me that when they get married, their husband will have to do all the cooking.

Good luck. I think we're a rare breed.

:lovestruc Aww Congratulation! Hope you had time to spend together!

A little bit. Not as much as we wanted, though.
If I'd known kids were going to take up so much of our time,
I might've reconsidered.

Just kidding.

Maybe.

My husband does the cooking at my house. My father and grandfather both did the cooking when I was growning up. Of course my DM went blind and grandma was taking care of me. I had one long term boyfriend who didn't cook and I was not good at it.

And we don't have kids!!!

My husband does the cooking at my house. My father and grandfather both did the cooking when I was growning up.

Huh. That's very rare. Not so much now, but back then? Almost unheard of.

Of course my DM went blind and grandma was taking care of me. I had one long term boyfriend who didn't cook and I was not good at it.

Well, that would explain it.
So did you and your boyfriend eat out a lot then?

And we don't have kids!!!

I can sell you some.

Nah. You probably just want an update.
Okay. Here ya go...

Ready for Prime Time

Before we begin with the next update,
a few people have asked me about the dog and butter incident.
So rather than type it out several times, or have other people ask about it...

I present to you... the dog and butter incident:

When Ruby and I married, we moved to a little Northern Manitoba town.
It was just the three of us.
Me, Ruby and our Keeshond.
Ruby's cooking skills... well.... aren't.
I'm sorry, but pizza from a box is not my idea of pizza.
I made the mistake (serendipitous?) of telling her so...
And ever since then, I do all the cooking.
We're both much happier.

I was at work and Ruby wanted to butter some bread or something.
Unfortunately, the butter dish was empty,
so she took some out of the fridge.
This is one of those 4 sticks/2 cup packs?
I think that's the most common size.
Anyway...
Ruby didn't want hard butter... she wanted soft butter!
So she put the entire thing on a small dish and put it in the microwave.
On high power.
For a minute.

Ding!

Butter all over the microwave...
Of course the dog was really interested in what was going on,
so she was hovering at Ruby's feet.
Ruby carefully pulls out the overflowing dish of butter...
and promptly spills most of it on the counter, the cupboards...
and the dog.
As you can well imagine, the dog was thrilled.
Free food!
She was licking herself for hours afterwards.
I guess it's like us and buttered popcorn...
without the popcorn, I suppose.
Made for a very happy puppy, though.
Slippery, too.

I came home and Ruby told me her tale of woe.
I just shook my head.
"You put the butter in for a minute?
And then tried to pull out a full dish of melted butter??"

:sad2:

But the story doesn't end there.
Oh, no.
A few weeks later, she did the Exact. Same. Thing.
Yup.
Butter. Microwave. Counter. Cupboards. Dog. Happy puppy.
After 25 years of marriage, I have yet to let her live that one down.

She no longer microwaves butter.

Moving on to the task at hand...

After waiting an almost interminable zero minutes for the bus,
we were on our way to:

DSC09418_zpsj4mcnf0a.jpg

MGM/DHS/WTGTCIN*

(*Whatever They're Going To Call It Next)

We made our way over to a couple of free tapstiles...
Magic Band, Finger Print, Mug Shot, Holding Cell....
And we were in!

I said, We were in!
Uh... Hello?

Kay?

Kay was still stuck at the tapstile.
Apparently Disney was trying to tell her
that her fingers had been replaced since this morning.

Plausible, yes. But, no.
They were the same digits.

The CM asked her if it was the same finger that she had used earlier?
But Kay, in her excitement, couldn't remember what digit she'd digitized.
"Try your thumb." Said the CM.
Bingo! That worked.
The CM told Kay to always use her thumb from then on,
and there shouldn't be any more problems.

Glad that got straightened out,
but I felt a bit dumb.
It had never occurred to me to tell Kay to remember which finger to use.
But she didn't know that she'd have to scan her finger at each park entrance,
so she didn't bother to really pay attention.

It's funny how the little things that we,
the fount of all Disney knowledge and lore,
take for granted as common knowledge.

Once inside, we paused to take another quick pic:

DSC09421_zpsamihcanf.jpg

Okay... but how about walking around
the Crossroads and shooting down Hollywood Blvd...
With NO HAT!!!!

:sad2:

I'm so stupid, sometimes I amaze myself.

In my (albeit limited) defense, I had other things on my mind.
I had planned the day with plenty of room to get from AK to DHS.
And plenty of time to have our ADR dinner and then do our FP rides.

But we were early.
Maybe, we could get in early for dinner... and do more rides!

We walked a block down Sunset and took a left.
A CM made us put it back.

Sorry.

At no time did I notice or in any way acknowledge
that the dreaded hat was gone.
I guess it's like a scab.
Totally noticeable and grosses you out when it's there,
but when it's gone, you hardly remember
that it had ever been there at all.

Before entering, we paused to take a picture of where we were going to eat.

DSC09422_zps5ugvf6sg.jpg

There was a lot of discussion on this one,
I know some of you guys thought I'd take Kay to Sci Fi,
but she's actually been there on both of her previous visits.
I told her about Prime Time and this is where she wanted to go.

We told the CM at the desk that we were early and she told us
to take a seat and we'd be called soon.
There was a water dispenser there.
It may have gotten a fairly good work out while we waited.

In minutes we were being led to our table.
The view from:

DSC09426_zpsuwiqmsvw.jpg

I'm not positive, but I think it was the toddler's birthday.
At least some servers came over and sang Happy Birthday.

What did we order?
Well, geez, some things just must be ordered when you're here.

DSC09429_zpsonnh7r5a.jpg

I had the Peanut Butter & Jelly milkshake.
Heaven in a metal cup!
Kay, not being a fan of Jelly, (don't ask :sad2:)
or peanut butter (don't ask :sad2:) had vanilla, I believe.

She did try my shake, and pronounced it "too peanut buttery".
I pronounced it a gift from the gods.
Man, that sucker was good!

Our server wasn't overly in character, but I blame myself for that.
I would think that the servers have to gauge guest reactions
to see if their shtick is being received good naturedly or not.
We were both recovering from heat stroke
(did I mention that it was hot?)
so maybe we weren't as enthusiastic as we could have been.
Don't get me wrong, our server was very nice and all.
But I could've used a bit more sass!

She did give me a sidelong glance when I asked for corn
instead of the carrots, but she only gave me a little grief.

Hey, I really like corn.

Kay had the chicken, while I decided to give the pot roast a try.
Both meals were tasty... and, especially Kay's, huge!

P1020823_zpsja1pqxkq.jpg

DSC09431_zpsh2zcuke9.jpg

Quick bonus point quiz opportunity!
Do either (or both) of those pictures make you salivate?

There was a mom and... maybe eight year old daughter, sitting next to us.
(Kay took this shot after they were gone.)

P1020824_zpssmjpby2l.jpg

And it turned out it was the little girl's birthday too.
They were all done with their meal before the server found out.
She had sat down next to the little girl and was chatting with her.
It was really a nice little scene.
The little girl mentions that it's her birthday and the server replies:
"It is! Why didn't you tell me before?"
She kind of jokingly glared at the mom.
"Would you like me to sing you a birthday song?" She asked.
The little girl nods.

I memorized the entire song. Here goes...

"Here's your birthday song,
it's not very long..."

She then petted the girl on her head, got up and walked away! :lmao:

Man, I love that song now.

When we were finished our meals
(I don't think either one of us cleaned our plates... just too much food.)
our server asked what we'd like for dessert.
Hey! It's free! Of course we're going to have....
uh.... no.
We were stuffed!
We passed on dessert.
I think the decision to pass on dessert was better...
Better than...
bringing a bucket.
(no I do not need to see another picture of Mr. Creosote... it's only wafer thin!)

Interlude...

Because we had made such good time from AK...
Because we had gotten in early for our ADR at Prime Time...
Because we were so stuffed we couldn't possibly eat dessert...
We had time to kill before our first FP of the day.

So what did we do?

DSC09432_zpsxnqzjkyg.jpg

That's right! We left Disney and went to watch a cheap knock-off of Singin' In The Rain.
Ha! Ha! No! We went on GMR where we saw this terribly horrid replica of Gene Kelly!
Seriously, there are so few decent animatronics in this ride.
"Come! Ride the movies! You'll see familiar settings with unfamiliar people!"

Oh, I suppose I shouldn't complain. I like the ride, after all.
Still.... Ah well. Moving on!

When I last rode this ride....
You can ride a ride, but you can't rode a road.
Sorry.
When I was last on this ride, I was really disappointed
since I couldn't hear the gangster's voice.
She was so quiet that the whole "ooh, we're being kidnapped"
was lost on the guests.
I could hear the regular guide okay. Just not the gangster.

This time, I had some trouble hearing our guide, but when the gangster took over...

He was terrific! Really into character... and audible!

DSC09435_zpsfvcug1nb.jpg

We were sitting right behind the driver's seat and he threatened me a couple of times.
Asked me for my valuables, but I wouldn't give Kay up.
He called me a "tough guy"

I presume his good acting skills and general comprehensibility led the Duke to not shoot him.

DSC09436_zpszdfivuaf.jpg

I'm saying "The Duke"... but of course it looks nothing like him.
I'm just being polite, and all...

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
Our wonderful gangster was killed off and our mute guide returned.

Even the Wicked Witch was done with her:

DSC09443_zpsmzflzmoc.jpg

"You! Boy! Tell her to speak up or I'll get you, my pretty, and your little daughter, too!"
(Really, that last bit was uncalled for.)
I told the girl to speak up.
I don't know if she heard me or not,
she mumbled something incoherent and that was it.
At least she drove away from the witch.
I'll give her that.
What kind of a witch are you,
if you can be taken out with a Super Soaker, anyway?

One final note about GMR.
Kay was really scared when we got close to the Alien part.
Just like Dinosaur, she had really built it up in her head...
After we had passed it she said "That's it? That's all?"

Kay 1, fear 0.

It was coming up to our first FP time, so we headed over towards it.
Kay took all of the following pics in the area.
I was focused on going on the ride, so didn't even take out my camera.
She took some shots, because she's a smart cookie.
I didn't, because I'm a doofus.

P1020825_zps07imd85r.jpg

P1020826_zpsqqqixayz.jpg

P1020827_zps5earoisg.jpg

P1020828_zpsgwzmvbdu.jpg

P1020830_zps9tfsuxqp.jpg

While all this was going on, Kay, it turns out, is magic.
Or at least blessed with magical powers.
There were some bubbles floating around in the area.
Kay took a swipe at one that was floating nearby...
and cut it in half!
How the heck do you do that without popping it?!?!?
I do have a theory, but I'll let you form your own.
Or just go with "She's magic!"
That works too.

And in case you haven't figured out where we're going yet,
because you've never, ever been to DHS.

We were going to:

P1020829_zpsyfmbwyyt.jpg

Man that ride is fun!
Although, the next day you wonder why your arm is sore.
And then you remember... "oooohhhhh...."
We all do it.
Well, maybe not you people who lift and stuff.

And in case you're wondering.
Yes. I beat Kay.
I'm her father. She's gonna have to earn those victories!

After I annihilated Kay at TSMM, we scooted back the way we came,
took a left on Sunset Blvd (another CM made me put that one back)
and headed to our next FP ride.

DSC09447_zps01uozjtj.jpg

On the way we grabbed some frozen lemonades.
Someone here... or possibly someones mentioned these.
Wow! Were they ever a blessing on a hot day!
Have I mentioned that it was hot? Cause it was. Hot.

We got to TOT and there was a pretty good line-up.
But we bypassed all the suckers and went right on in.
I love FP. Might not have been obvious.

DSC09450_zpsqek9e4n9.jpg

See the hat, cane and trunk?
In the pre-show video you can see them.
The man whom they belong to comes in to the hotel in the video.

Now the last time Kay was here, she was eight.
She rode TOT... once.
And once was enough.
She flatly refused to ride it again.
And she wasn't all that sure if she wanted to ride it now, either!
I, being a kind and understanding father,
dragged her kicking and screaming and forced her to ride.

What? Deny that you haven't seen this. I dare you.

Okay, so I didn't do that, but she sure was nervous!
But she did it, and...
She said it wasn't as bad as she remembered.
In fact, she kinda liked it!

We headed out to take on our last FP of the night.
When we got to Star Tours, the wait time was being shown as 10 minutes.
I suppose it was fairly accurate... provided you walked... very... slo...wly.....
I think from the time we entered the queue to the time we were boarding
was under 5 minutes.

I think this was Kay's first time riding this.
I could be wrong.
But she didn't remember it and liked it as well.
So much so that we decided to ride it again!
And I'm sure glad we did!
Every time I've been on this ride, I've had the same experience.
I know others have mentioned the "new stuff" and I assumed they meant
the part about being "the spy" or C3PO being the pilot.
We got the Darth Vader sequence! I had no idea that even existed!
We were so stoked!

By now it was getting close to 9pm.
I had read that a good spot to view the Frozen Fireworks was at
Min and Bill's Dockside Diner.
So we went over and hung around for a while.
9pm came and went and no fireworks.
There was stuff going on,
but it didn't seem to have anything to do with Frozen.

We decided to do something else.
We grabbed some FPs for Fantasmic! at a kiosk and
trekked back up Sunset Blvd.
We turned left at the end of the road
and checked out the wait time for RNRC.
20 minutes! Sweet!

Kay asked if we could sit in the front row.
I passed her request on to a CM who directed us to stand
in a little holding queue.
We waited just a few seconds before being directed to the front row.

Did we enjoy it?
You've seen this before, but this is where it's from.

RNRC1_zpstsmzcuv2.jpg

The child behind me is trying to poop.
Just thought you'd like to know.

I pointed out the city-scape to Kay as we rode.
Once again... "I see it! I see it!"
Makes my day.

We exited through the dump shop and looked around for a bit.
Not long, since it was getting close to Fantasmic! time.
I know the short form of Fantasmic! is F!... but I just can't do it.
It always feels like I'm swearing.

I'm not too sure what the purpose of the FP was, though.
When we got to the tapstiles,
they were divided between FP and non-FP.
But at the top of the hill, the two lines joined up.
Seemed pretty pointless to me.
Maybe since it was the later showing?
Dunno.

Kay seemed to enjoy the show.
How do I know this?
Because my normally jaded teenage daughter said something
that I never thought I'd hear uttered from her lips again.
She said. "Ooohhhh...."
Made my day... again.

We did have a little chuckle during the show.
There was a family seated right behind us with some little kids.
The scene where Mickey has to face the giant snake?
One of the little kids suddenly yells out "Run Mickey!!"
I cracked up.

When the show ended, I had planned to pop into some shops on the way out.

Nope.

Everything was buttoned up tight for the night.
That really surprised me.
I thought it was pretty much Disney strategy
to leave the shops open as people left,
in order to sell them more stuff as they leave.
It really kind of felt like... well...

"Have a nice night! Did you have fun?"
"Well, as a matter of fact..."
"Great. That's wonderful. Now get out."

We got out.

We got to our designated bus stop at 10:45 and had our longest wait so far.
The bus arrived 4 minutes later at 10:49.
I really felt like lodging a complaint.
But I was too tired.
Maybe tomorrow.

We got back to the resort and....
we had to figure out where our new room was.
We went to the front desk and got our room number.
60s
pool view
top floor (darn)

Great location though.
We got the corner room closest to the pool, stairs and
I would guess the closest room on property (albeit four floors up)
to the Classic Hall food court.

Major score!
(Not as major as: "I'm sorry, we can't find a room here, would the Grand Floridian do?")

We popped into the food court so Kay could pick out her mug.
No black, so she picked purple.

We tramped up the stairs to our room,
where our bags were patiently waiting.
I dug out my mug and headed (back down the stairs) back to the food court.
I filled it with Coke and it magically emptied itself down my throat in a split second.

I might have been just a tad dehydrated by this point.
I really wanted to grab a drink after Fantasmic!, but everything was closed!
F!
uh... ran too late. Yeah.

Now there was one last thing that I forgot to pack for this trip.
Body glide.
Great stuff.
You feel anything chafing... slap it on.
Heck, you think something might chafe... slap it on!

I wandered over to the gift shop.
Now, how was I going to sell this.
I couldn't tell the lady at the counter that I was feeling like a certain
cloud producing lady in AK.
Ah, I got it.
"Hi! My daughter's thighs are chafing. Do you have any body glide or similar?"
When in need, your kids are always available to be thrown under the bus.

They didn't have any body glide...
but they did have some diaper rash cream.

Worked like a charm.

The way I see it, I'm just starting early.
Diapers will be next.
Although I guess that Depends on if I live that long.

I headed back to the room.
First I looked up at the stairs, sighed, and trudged up.

Back at the room, I decided a shower was in order.
Why am I telling you this?
Because of what happened, of course!
Sheesh! Give me a second!

Before I got in the shower,
I noticed that there was only one bottle of shampoo.
You know those little tiny Mickey Ears topped bottles?
Well, Kay will want to shower next or in the morning,
so I better make sure I leave her plenty, right?
Hmmm... Is it my imagination, or did that top open up
a bit more easier than normal?
I go to squirt some shampoo out and....
it's not shampoo.
It's water.

They give us one measly bottle of shampoo...
and it's not even shampoo???

(And this is what I think happened.
Some little kid was playing in the tub and pretended
that bottle was a submarine or something. Then put it back.)

I called and asked for more shampoo and the next day,
when we got back from the parks, we had half a dozen of 'em.

Still, kind of a weird way to end our first full day in the World.

What's on tap for tomorrow?
Well, I suppose I should follow along with the recommendation
from the UOG and hit Epcot before MK.
But I can't wait any long.
MK here we come!

Bonus questions, round 4!
Take a flyer on our park arrival time.
Did we make rope drop or not?

Pick our three FPs! Nothing weird here, but there are a few options.

I do have a lunch ADR in the park. Where is it?
(Reminder. I was already well within the ADR window when I booked.)

What ride does Kay drag me onto against my will?
(I'm serious. I told her I didn't want to go, but she insisted.)

Good luck!

OH boy, do I ever have some reading to do. I mean other than all things Fluids and Electrolytes. Took me about 30 seconds to just scroll to the end without reading it. Which is what I"ll get busy on doing when my extra cheesy quesadilla is ready for leisurely consumption.

On a side note, I feel like dogcrap with a HORRIBLE headcold which makes any sort of retention moot, and therefore any studying pointless. There just isn't enough Dayquil in the house, and I"m not goin' anywhere. Except a few inches this way or that in my armchair. Hopefully I don't get sent home from Clinical tomorrow.

Holy Contest Batman! Those suck up points really worked! :worship: :worship: :worship:

I'll be back to comment, and now I really need to step up my game! Still reading the previous TR for clues.

I did have to read back and figure out where I said you were cute. :rolleyes1 Not denying it. ::yes:: Just checking the facts sir! :flower3:

Oh yeah, and I better revise my transportation guess now while you have just wrapped up your second day. See I based my guess on my experiences. Normally I wait 20-30 for DME and have at least one if not two 20-40 minute waits for busses. Every. Day. You are at 5 minutes at the end of your day, with only three days left. Since your luck seems to be better than mine, I'm going to revise it to 97. Less than one third my original estimate.

And for the free bonus points, both meals make me salivate. You have convinced me that on our ressie there at Christmastime, we are going to get the sampler which includes the Fried Chicken, Pot Roast and Meatloaf. Plus an order of the onion rings.

Do either (or both) of those pictures make you salivate?

Kay's meal definitely makes me salivate - yum! Yours... eh... not so much - never been a big pot roast fan.

I have actually never been to Prime Time. We never spend much time in DHS and I can't remember the last time we even ate in that park. Now I want to though!

I've also never been on the GMR. Dang, I need to get with the program...

See the hat, cane and trunk?
In the pre-show video you can see them.
The man whom they belong to comes in to the hotel in the video.

I never noticed that - will have to look for it on our trip to Disneyland next April (assuming it's the same there)...

I really wanted to grab a drink after Fantasmic!, but everything was closed!
F!
uh... ran too late. Yeah.

:rotfl:

"Hi! My daughter's thighs are chafing. Do you have any body glide or similar?"
When in need, your kids are always available to be thrown under the bus.

Oh... nice strategy there - and very lucky for you that she was up in the room when you used said strategy! Otherwise, chafing would be the least of your worries. Might of needed to spring for a deluxe first aid kit.

Although I guess that Depends on if I live that long.

I see what you did there... ::yes::

Grr... just posted instead of inserting the last quote I was trying to include...

Okay, I'm thinking you didn't make rope drop and arrived at 9:40am.

Fastpasses - Space Mountain, SDMT, and BTMR

Lunch - hmm... Crystal Palace? (aka I have no clue)

Kay drags you on IASW - I despise this ride and my mom dragged me on it during our Sept trip so I feel your pain if I'm right on this!

I'm so stupid, sometimes I amaze myself.
really, must you bait the smart aleck? would it be mean to point out that you do come back to entertain us day in and day out, and for all your hard work we do tend to take the mickey out one you a bit... ok a lot

But I could've used a bit more sass!
what the mermaid harem isn't sassy enough to make up for that??:rolleyes1
Quick bonus point quiz opportunity!
Do either (or both) of those pictures make you salivate?
yes yes yes oh and did I mention heeeckkkk yes they do
And in case you're wondering.
Yes. I beat Kay.
I'm her father. She's gonna have to earn those victories!
poor kay! but it is nice to be able to beat the kids at something right? did you do the "I won" happy dance? I do when I win at that one.
The child behind me is trying to poop.
Just thought you'd like to know.
and that way customs agents won't think he constipated right?
When in need, your kids are always available to be thrown under the bus.
yep been there done that...
:offtopic:well been busy busy busy but managed to catch up. as I posted last weekend we had my daughter's baby shower and after the shower realized she was in labor. so off to the hospital we went. short version is that at 1:39 pm last sunday we officially welcomed our new granddaughter, catarina. cati for short.
every one is fine and well and we are feeling very blessed. on the funny side, my son took a video of our older granddaughter and asked her if she was ready to share grammy and papa with her new cousin, her response, "not yet, no thankyou" she is warming up to the new cousin tho.
now to figure out how to be "that" grandparent and get my pics from my tablet to here....

things I think"
I think kay is turning into a great photographer *wonder where trait comes from*
I think next trip we need to slow down and pay attention to the details more, *again nod to kay didn't realize all those details around tsmm*
I think I will snag these food pics and start sending them to lance as some not so subtle hints that it is time to go home
I think I need to get off my computer and put a care package together for cati and those people she lives with *lol* so lance can drop it off to them tomorrow since he works less than five minutes away and maybe he can hold her since when we go he just only gets to hold her for a few minutes
have a great night have a great week

Kay's does. Reminds me of Hoop do Doo.

On the way we grabbed some frozen lemonades.

My 3rd favorite "snack". Soooooo good!!

Take a flyer on our park arrival time.
Did we make rope drop or not?

No. The calendar says that on August 23rd, MK opens at 9:00, which makes me think you had to get Kay up by 7:45 or so. I just don't see that happening. I think you arrive pretty close to 9:45.

Pick our three FPs! Nothing weird here, but there are a few options.

What ride does Kay drag me onto against my will?
(I'm serious. I told her I didn't want to go, but she insisted.)

IaSM

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: If it makes her feel better, I nearly did this once......
As a college kid......
trying to bake a cake at 2 am. :rolleyes2 ( My sleep deprived mind mixed up softening the butter and melting the butter. My friends didn't let me live that one down for a long while either. )

It's funny how the little things that we,
the fount of all Disney knowledge and lore,
take for granted as common knowledge.
::yes:: like how just because you stayed a resort that had bus service doesn't mean you stayed off property. And Staying at a Value Resort doesn't mean you decided to get the dining plan (As in its a value resort because you got their "value dining plan package thing" :rolleyes2:rotfl: (I was proud of myself not rolling my eyes or laughing out right when THAT came up in conversation.:thumbsup2 )

We walked a block down Sunset and took a left.
A CM made us put it back.
:rotfl2:

She did try my shake, and pronounced it "too peanut buttery".
:confused3

Quick bonus point quiz opportunity!
Do either (or both) of those pictures make you salivate?
My Fertility drugs are causing "Morning" Sickness at the moment so no not really.

"Here's your birthday song,
it's not very long..."

She then petted the girl on her head, got up and walked away! :lmao:
:rotfl::thumbsup2 I like it!

"Come! Ride the movies! You'll see familiar settings with unfamiliar people!"
::yes:::rotfl: Glad I'm not the only one!

We were sitting right behind the driver's seat and he threatened me a couple of times.
Asked me for my valuables, but I wouldn't give Kay up.
He called me a "tough guy"
:thumbsup2

Kay 1, fear 0.
:cheer2::dancer:

And in case you're wondering.
Yes. I beat Kay.
I'm her father. She's gonna have to earn those victories!
:cool1: Parenting done right!

The man whom they belong to comes in to the hotel in the video.
huh cool!

Because my normally jaded teenage daughter said something
that I never thought I'd hear uttered from her lips again.
She said. "Ooohhhh...."
Made my day... again.
:lovestruc

One of the little kids suddenly yells out "Run Mickey!!"
:rotfl::rotfl2::lovestruc

Great location though.
GOod to know. Preferred Pool View is what we have booked for March.

"Hi! My daughter's thighs are chafing. Do you have any body glide or similar?"
When in need, your kids are always available to be thrown under the bus.
::yes:: They have to earn their keep some how right?:thumbsup2

Worked like a charm.
:thumbsup2

I go to squirt some shampoo out and....
it's not shampoo.
It's water.
:crazy2:

What ride does Kay drag me onto against my will?
(I'm serious. I told her I didn't want to go, but she insisted.)
Its a small world because she wants to try it with your newly discovered method with the head phones.

But the story doesn't end there.
Oh, no.
A few weeks later, she did the Exact. Same. Thing.
Yup.
Butter. Microwave. Counter. Cupboards. Dog. Happy puppy.
After 25 years of marriage, I have yet to let her live that one down.

She no longer microwaves butter.

I'm guessing you remind every week or so just to keep her on her toes right?

I'm glad I wasn't in line behind you guys that day - I can't help it but I get so frustrated at people who don't remember which finger they used!
DSC09421_zpsamihcanf.jpg

There was a lot of discussion on this one,
I know some of you guys thought I'd take Kay to Sci Fi,
but she's actually been there on both of her previous visits.
I told her about Prime Time and this is where she wanted to go.

You (and Kay) made an excellent choice - I love 50s Prime Time (and the Tune in Lounge even more!)

I'm afraid I would have to disown any child of mine who didn't like peanut butter. I mean really. And yes the shake is delicious - even if it is a little thick :hyper:

Quick bonus point quiz opportunity!
Do either (or both) of those pictures make you salivate?

Does this answer your question?

Drooling_homer.gif

Man that ride is fun!
Although, the next day you wonder why your arm is sore.
And then you remember... "oooohhhhh...."
We all do it.
Well, maybe not you people who lift and stuff.

And in case you're wondering.
Yes. I beat Kay.
I'm her father. She's gonna have to earn those victories!

I don't know whether to subtract some Dad points off you here or not....

I may have ridden this far more than a normal person would have on my DHS day - and I never got picked as the spy :sad2:

We got to our designated bus stop at 10:45 and had our longest wait so far.
The bus arrived 4 minutes later at 10:49.
I really felt like lodging a complaint.
But I was too tired.
Maybe tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I said right at the beginning how awesome the Pop bus service is - surely that's worth some points right? ;)

We popped into the food court so Kay could pick out her mug.
No black, so she picked purple.

I'm positive I said purple right?

The way I see it, I'm just starting early.
Diapers will be next.
Although I guess that Depends on if I live that long.

I see what you did there...

1. What park do we go to?
Answer: DHS (2 points)
2. Where's the ADR?
Answer: 50s Prime Time (4 points)
3. Where's our new room?
Answer: 60s, pool view, top (4th) floor. (2 points each)
2 bonus points for getting all correct

You're guesses and points won:

SnowWhiteOz - Epcot, Via Napoli, 50s, lake view, top floor - 2 points

I apologise for failing so miserably this week.

Bonus questions, round 4!
Take a flyer on our park arrival time.

Good luck!

I'm going to remain optimistic and guess that you did make it to RD but that you were at the back of that pack.

FPs - Haunted Mansion, BTMR, and Buzz's Space Ranger Spin

I was going to go with Dumbo but seeing as I know how much you love IASW I'm going to change my answer to that.

OH boy, do I ever have some reading to do.

Yes! And you have clinicals today too! Study, study, study!

I mean other than all things Fluids and Electrolytes.

Oh.

Still mean it, though.

Took me about 30 seconds to just scroll to the end without reading it.

You didn't even bother to read it?!?!? After all that work????

Which is what I"ll get busy on doing when my extra cheesy quesadilla is ready for leisurely consumption.

Ah. <phew!>

Funny. I like nachos, but never been a fan of quesadillas.

There just isn't enough Dayquil in the house, and I"m not goin' anywhere. Except a few inches this way or that in my armchair. Hopefully I don't get sent home from Clinical tomorrow.

Yes, I read that over on your TR. I really hope you're feeling a bit better this morning.

Holy Contest Batman! Those suck up points really worked! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Funny how that works, isn't it?

I'll be back to comment, and now I really need to step up my game!

Actually, you don't. Look! You're winning!

Still reading the previous TR for clues.

I don't know if there are too many clues there... wait... yes there is for the next update!

I did have to read back and figure out where I said you were cute. :rolleyes1 Not denying it. ::yes:: Just checking the facts sir! :flower3:

You can deny it if you like... of course then I'll have to deduct those points...

:rolleyes1

Oh yeah, and I better revise my transportation guess now while you have just wrapped up your second day. See I based my guess on my experiences. Noted. 10 point penalty will be applied if this is the winning guess.

And for the free bonus points, both meals make me salivate.

They look good, don't they?
The pot roast was good, but I think the chicken is better.

You have convinced me that on our ressie there at Christmastime, we are going to get the sampler which includes the Fried Chicken, Pot Roast and Meatloaf. Plus an order of the onion rings.

Good choice. Especially the onion rings.
That's been on my Disney to-do list for years now.
But the two times I've been to Prime Time, I haven't been hungry enough to get them!

Kay's meal definitely makes me salivate - yum! Yours... eh... not so much - never been a big pot roast fan.

Truthfully, neither am I.
When my mom would occasionally cook one for a Sunday supper,
I ate it, but wasn't a fan.
Thought I'd give the one at Prime Time a shot.
It was okay... maybe even pretty good.
But next time, I'll probably go back to the chicken.
Now that was good!

I have actually never been to Prime Time. We never spend much time in DHS and I can't remember the last time we even ate in that park. Now I want to though!

Do!

I've also never been on the GMR. Dang, I need to get with the program...

What the heck is wrong with you??

 Just kidding!

Oh... nice strategy there - and very lucky for you that she was up in the room when you used said strategy! Otherwise, chafing would be the least of your worries. Might of needed to spring for a deluxe first aid kit.

 I wouldn't have done it with her around.
I may be stupid, but I'm not crazy!

Well.... uh... nevermind!

Okay, I'm thinking you didn't make rope drop and arrived at 9:40am.

Lunch - hmm... Crystal Palace? (aka I have no clue)
