Hi there...

Here is the run down...It's our 2 week honeymoon...Feb 2003

We stayed a week at Orange Lake and loved it. Then we moved to a second week at Vacation Village at Parkway.

We liked it well enough at first but then it got bad. On the Tuesday night I did a load of laundry in the pay machines in the hall(our unit did not have laundry) The washer ripped 2 of my husbands shirts and tore a button off one of mine. Then we put the stuff in the dryer. An hour later I went back out to the machines and the dryer was still going. Nothing was dry...I let it go for another hour and still nothing was dry and the dryer stopped. It was now midnight and we needed to be at the parks for opening....so we strung up all the wet clothes on anything that would stand still.

The next morning we reported what had happened to the front desk and were told that the manager would call us. And off to the parks we go...

When we checked in on the Saturday, we told the front desk 3 different times that we did not want housekeeping to come to our room during our stay because it was a 2 bedroom with linens for 8 people and we were just DH and I on our honeymoon. We even wrote this on the inventory lists we had to complete as well as our check in sheets. Well then my worst nightmare...While we were at the parks on Wednesday and all those clothes were drying all over the apartment, THE CLEANING CREW ENTERED ANYWAYS.....

I was very embarassed. I'm a very private person and to have someone come into my room and see my undergarmets out in the open as well as having tons of Disney pins on the counter and I started to cry...My husband tried to call the front desk but no one would talk to him.

The next morning he went in to talk to the front desk and they said that the manager would get back to us but did not. They acted like they did not understand my humiliation. They said as long as noone stole anything why do I care???

Then there was the 3 mornings in a row with calls at 4:30 , 5:15 and 5:35 with the wrong number....We called and asked the front desk if they could do anything but could not. We could not leave the phone off-the-hook because my Dad has a heart condition and I need to be able to get calls in case of an emergency.

Then came the last straw....

The morning we were checking out someone entered our room...

Check out time was 10 am. At 9:10 I was putting on a little make up sitting on the sofa while my DH was in the shower. I only had my robe on. The door opened and it blocked my view of who it was but I screamed "What on earth is going on here????" The person quickly left. I heard running down the hall. Now I know the door was locked because I am a freak about that and there is 2 doors you have to go through to get to mine....My husband ran out and I was just freaked...

So we rushed to check out...I did not feel safe staying there one extra minute. The front desk manager who did not call us after all of that was there. She brushed it off by saying that they are not responsible for the washers & dryers and that I basically imagined that someone opened the door and that there was nothing stolen from my room so I should be thankful that they made the rooms up. All of this was after the gentle man I was being served by pointed to the computer screen and that is when she got testy. I think she realized that we were not owners so we did not matter.

She then gave me the $2 I spent on the machine for the laundry and said I was out of luck for anything else...

The phone number I have for Vacation Village at Parkway is a direct line to her and I can't even get a call back. Is there anyone out there who could help me kick this up the ladder???

Thanks for any help.

You are not going to like this, but when you complain I would just leave out the whole thing about the housekeeping seeing your undies. The average hotel manager is going to see that someone is upset because housekeeping actually did thier job and just ignore all of your complaints.

I think that you should write about the shirts and request compenstation. As to the room entrance, I am willing to bet it was probably someone from housekeeping or maintenance who was coming to change over the room and you scared them off. Yep, they should not have acted that way and I would complain.

I found this address on the web for you

Daily Management, Inc.
401 Racquet Club Road
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33326

For the future, whenever you're in any type of hotel room ALWAYS use the chain and/or dead bolt. It's very common for housekeeping to knock and enter PARTICULARLY the day you check out. You probably didn't hear them knock. There is a rush to clean the units so they are available to people checking in.

This was a condo and I was sitting 2 feet away from the door.I would have heard the knock.

I also manage a motel and a chalets business and we do not enter the rooms till after check out time unless the key has been returned. We also honour our guests requests to not enter a room. If it was housekeeping that entered, they should have said sorry, just housekeeping. We will come back.

I'm more upset about the fact that she won't return my calls than the rest but I guess I had written the post the wrong way.

Has anyone else had problems there or is it just me?..

last year. I did not really have any problems with them.
I don't think housekeeping came in at all- unless we wanted new towels, and I did not use the washer/dryer.
Sorry, I can't help.
