Camping in Florida on the way down

Any advice for nice campgrounds in the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach area?

We will be stopping there on the way up or way back for a few nights. We would love a nice campground with at least partial hookups with some kind of beach access.

We just got back. We stayed 10 miles east of Biloxi at a KOA in Ocean Springs while heading toward Florida.
We stayed at the Casino Magic campground in Bay St. Louis on the way home.
The Casino Magic campground was a very pleasant surprise. The bathhouse was better than Disney's, and the sites were all level with tables, sewage hookups, and cable TV for $22.00 per night. Beach access was just down the road. There was also a golf course on the property if that would interest you.
Just to prepare you, get ready to pay through your nose at the pumps. The average price for mid range gas was about $1.90/gal. once you get out of Louisiana.
There is no real construction except for a couple short lengths of single lane traffic on I-10 between here and Orlando, you should have a nice trip. I pulled a 27' Dutchman from Orlando to Ville Platte in 14 and 1/2 hours.

There is a beautiful campground just off I-10 called Rivers Edge(?). It is the exit just before Crestview, Ft Walton Beach, Destin exit. It is exit 11 in Holt. Nice place. My inlaws used to camp there when the came to visit us. We used to live in Crestview when we were stationed at Eglin AFB.

Hi! Just got back from a week in Destin/Ft.Walton area, we go every year. We stay at Camping on The Gulf and they have sites right on the beach! The sites are close together but its great being so close to the water! You can check it out at www.campgulf.com hope this helps!
