...although it is only 9pm here on the west coast, I guess I am part of the nightshift.
Here is my dilemma for the day or I guess it is night:
I have had the red-eye booked on the evening of 8/18 for 10 months. And so I've been worrying for 10 months that we are going to miss the boat. Our flight gets in at 7am. If I am not worrying about us missing the boat, I am worrying about being so tired for Castaway Cay on Sunday. Anyway, I talked to Alaska Airlines a month or so ago and they told me we would have a good chance of getting on the 8am flight on 8/18 if we wanted to fly standby (no charge to fly standby on a different flight on same day...cool!). This would get us into Orlando at 5pm on 8/18. Here comes the dilemma part....since I don't know if we will make the flight, how do I make reservations for somewhere to sleep on Friday? I haven't found any hotel that was willing to give us a reservation and not a cancellation penalty...not unreasonable I understand. So, my only thought is to make a reservation as soon as we know we are on the flight which probably would mean I need to make it after we get on board the plane and before they close the doors. Ideas on who I should call? My boys have always wanted to stay at the Swan/Dolphin. Do you think they'd have reasonable rooms with no notice? We are meeting my sister at the airport in the morning and my other sister for breakfast at Coronado Springs before we head to the cruise, so a cheap hotel near the airport would probably be okay too. We have a car rented for both flights. Ideas?
I just checked and per Orbitz, there are 30+ seats available on that flight! Here's hoping. It would cost us almost $1000 to change to that flight without flying standby.
Got to get back to work. I am now living Dori's life...or lack of. I'm guessing I'll be working 60+ hour weeks for the next 18 months. Ugh!
Thanks for letting me ramble...dang, I should have split this into about six posts to keep our post count going....
