I have been lucky in my flight purchases.

In 2010 we paid 245 RT pp from Pearson to MCO in Air Transat (CanJet).
In 2012 we paid 160 RT pp from Buffalo to MCO on Southwest
this year we paid 223 RT pp from buffalo to MCO on Jet Blue.

The convenience of flying from Toronto is not worth the large price. I will drive the 2+ hours to buffalo and make it an adventure. :lmao:

Southwest are usually the best for us. Lowest we've paid for 4 is $800 in 2008. Highest will be our upcoming trip most likely. I found the flight going down on Southwest for $165 but return I can't get lower than $211, and that's a flight with a connection. I have to adjust my price perimeters for this one because we want to be home a few days before Christmas. As does every other traveller around that time:rolleyes:

So it's looking like we'll be paying around $1500 return for those flights.:sad2:

On average I shoot for $1200 and usually come in right around that number for non-stops.

An update to my earlier post. I decided to go ahead and book an early morning flight on Southwest with a layover since I had a Southwest credit to use and it was hundreds cheaper than anything else.

So flying non stop to MCO on Dec 13th, and flying home with one stop on December 23rd cost me a grand total of 1350 for 4 or $337 per person. Not great by any means but I can live with it for flights that have me coming home 2 days before Christmas. Hopefully some of the non-stops will drop and I can switch to one for the return.

Would you pay $300 for this route? We leave end of Feb but come back as March break starts. I'm a little nervous waiting as there's 7 of us and our dates are not flexible....

I pm'd you but just saw this. If your dates aren't flexible I would book at that price. The popular advice around here is book with what you can live with. The flight above that I mentioned was higher than we usually pay but I know there's a good chance it won't come down since it's right before Christmas and I'd kick myself if it went even higher so I decided to book.

    Traveling in 3 weeks -
Paid direct southwest to get there $125, Direct Jetblue to get back $110
    $235 each total

    Traveling at Christmas
Paid direct southwest both flights $268.80

We were so happy with those rates - best we've seen in a long while. We've been driving for the past couple of years because the prices haven't been great.
We're watching for March break but so far not so good...

I could've got a lower rate by leaving on the evening flight. But its not worth it to me...I'd rather be in Orlando at 1030am!!

We are flying from Buffalo to Orlando on August 14. We got flights on Southwest for $250 per person (non-stop, return) Normally, we fly out of Detroit (on Delta or Spirit) because it tends to be quite a bit cheaper. Although the flights were a bit more than we normally spend (usually $200 or less per person) the fact that we don't have to drive 4+ hrs to get to Detroit as well as not having to pay for baggage made the decision to fly Southwest an easy one!

Our party of 4 is flying BUF to MCO on JetBlue on 8/5 and return on 8/9. The total was $972. Much better than the $1500 it would have been to fly from Syracuse. JB also dropped the morning SYR direct flight to MCO. Those two factors make it easy to drive two hours to catch our flight.

We're heading down september 19-25, and paid 660 for the three of us. They're direct flights, but operated by airtran. I'm fairly nervous about the whole seating issue, but I called the airline and the rep said they could guarantee I get a seat with my 4 y.o. fingers crossed!

Our flight to Orlando dropped a total of $125 for the four of us today. I am hoping the flight home will come down a bit so I can apply the credit to get a non-stop instead of the connecting flight we have.
The connection was $175 per person and every one of the non-stops that day on Southwest were $290:rolleyes1
    Not paying that.
It would have to come down to about $220 for me to change.

Usually pay $180 per person all taxes and baggage included for well timed direct flights. Our most recent trip was May of this year. Just keep an eye open for sales through Southwest and JetBlue.

I think the cheapest I've seen recently (earlier this year) was when JetBlue was offering a discount based on the number of people in your party. I think it was up to 40% off for 6 or 7 people. I priced 6 people and got around $750 return all in! It was like $125 return per person.

There are deals out there that blow away the prices out of Toronto's Pearson airport.
