On the 7th September 2011 US Navy Lieutenant Bradley Snyder lost his sight to an IED explosion whilst serving in Afghanistan.
On the 7th September 2012 Bradley Snyder won the gold medal in the 400m S11 freestyle swimming at the London 2012 Paralympics, his second gold medal of the games. As he left the podium after the medal ceremony Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" boomed over the PA system.
