My family and I will be celebrating my sons 6th birthday while in Disney.
I was told to get a Birthday badge. Is this something I can do the day before
or is it day of birthday only? Im curious because we have a character breakfast scheduled on his birthday. I wont have enough time between the trip to get the badge and the scheduled breakfast time.
Any help would be appreciated

You can get them at guest services at the park ahead of time. I forgot to get one, and the waitress at Crystal Palace brought one out for my ds. Make sure you have the birthday noted on any ADRs, as they decorate the table and bring out a cupcake, etc. My son was treated like royalty, and many people wished him a happy birthday all day long. :wizard:

My daughter will be turning 6 on our trip in october too. We are making t-shirts saying it is her birthday, getting the birthday badge and have a it's my birthday ribbon to go under it. I also noted it was her birthday on our reservations for that day. She is so excited to go for her birthday. It is neat too cause her birthday is the day before halloween.

We are celebrating DD's and DMIL's birthdays while we are there over Easter '06. DD's Birthday falls on Easter Sunday so we are having character breakfast at the Contemporary and attending Mass in the ballrooms there. All in all, it should be a very eventful day...

Just a word of advice, even if you have the birthdays noted on your ADR's , make sure that you tell the CM when you check in as well.

I am going to WDW at the end of this month to celebrate my birthday with my DH , where do you get the birthday badge and do you pay for it? :confused3

It's free, and available at Guest services at the parks. Have a great birthday! :flower:

do the kids with the birthday badges get anything special? Just curious... how fun.

We ate at Crystal palace and Chef Mickeys that day, and got confetti on the table and a decorated cupcake with candle, card at one place, signed placemat at the other, and many CMs wished DS a happy birthday.
Very fun day for him!

Both birthday kids and birthday 'big' kids sometimes have special things happen to them while wearing their birthday badges. DH and DD8 share a birthday and we were at MK last year on their birthdays. Both wore their buttons, both got cupcakes at CRT for breakfast. DH even got a birthday certificate from the castle! The CM at Splash Mountain noticed their buttons and pulled them aside to ride in the front of the log!
We ate at LTT for dinner and our table was also covered with confetti.

We stayed at Pop Century and upon returning from out day at MK there were 2 birthday cards attached to balloons from Mickey and Minnie.
(I had mentioned their birthdays when we checked in but was not expecting anything!)

It's a great place to celebrate a birthday!

Yes, you can get them anytime @ guest services. and usually at most resteraunts, they will do something special. I hope your son has a :wizard: magical :wizard: 6th birthday!!

my DD8 and DD12 celebrated their birthday at WDW last 10/23 (yes same day, different year...no kidding) and we picked up the badges at MK city hall and subsequently got the following perks....

1) phone call (at the city hall front desk) from goofy wishing them a happy birthday.

2) whole family was treated to the fast pass lane (without fast passes) several times.

3) cupcake/candle/confetti on the tables at all meals (including breakfast...hey its their birthday)....signed birthday place mat at chef mickeys....CMs (with guests joining) singing birthday at all meals (Chef Mickeys, Sci Fi, Crystal). TELL THE HOSTESS AT ALL MEALS (even if you told them when you made the ADR).

4) CMs (including those in the parade) came over to them to wish them a happy birthday.....and numerous guests did as well (which was great!).

5) numerous times recieved free pins when pin trading with CMs

6) recieved a free ice cone somewhere.

7) I told the CM at CBR when we checked in, and on their birthday, which was at the end of the trip, we came back to the room to find an autographed (hand written with marker ON the picture, not added by a computer) 5x7 picture, of mickey & minnie outside the castle, in a card with a special birthday note (hand printed) addressed them, and balloons.

TIP: Make up bright colored t-shirts 'advertising' there birthday in addition the pin.....we had 'today is my birthday and...' on the front, with '...I spent it at Disney' on the back. Remember the whole idea is for them to stand out to get the attention.....

We just returned. And I made sure we got a button for my wife everywhere we went. I bet over 100 people wished her a Happy Birthday during the 2 days in the parks.

Several resturants including counter service places gave her special treats. Take a look:

Make sure that you let the resort know. She recieved ballons and card with a signed photo.

Here is the photo:

Also you can call ahead and have a personlized cake made. They'll deliever it to any restuarnt. I had one done for about $20:

WDW is a great place for birthday!!

We celebrated my DD7 bday at WDW. She wore her bday pin and when we went to see Belle in her Enchanted Garden for her story time, she picked my daughter to go up on stage for a part in the play. The garden can be hard to find. It is tucked away to the right of the castle down a path. Have fun.

This is fun- when in MK on Main Street, go see the Dapper Dans (barbershop quartet). They will serenade the birthday person, and make a really huge deal of it!

On our last trip, My DD turned 4, and was treated like a Princess. So much so that on a different day, we let my other daughter wear the Birthday Badge!

Her perks were:

1) Hand-autographed birthday card and photo of Snow White, Mickey balloons and Snow White plush toy sent to our resort room(they must have noticed SW was is her fave!)

2) SUPER royal treatment at Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast, including the birthday cupcake and a free 8x10 of our family, plus we were NEVER without a character at our table!

3) Escorted to the front of the line on three attractions

4) Serenaded by Dapper Dans on fire truck on Main Street, and another free 8x10 of the event taken by wandering Disney photographer

5) Four different CM's gave her pins off their lanyards

6) Warm birthday wishes from what seemed like 100 CM's, and guests too!

We got our badge in MK Guest Services (immediately to the left as you exit the train station onto Main Street).

We also received a present in our room for our wedding anniversary(romantic Mickey candle, balloons, card), as did my Dad for his birthday!

I just got back from Disney today. We celebrated my son's 7th birthday (Ocotber 8) and my daughter's 10th birthday (October 12) the entire week. This was our first trip to Disney.

We got a badge at MK and a large pin at Epcot. They got serenaded at the Barber Shop, pins, special hats, cupcakes, etc. I think the absolute best was during the parade at MK, all the CM were mouthing the words "Happy Birthday" and waving to them. It was absolutely incredible and brought tears to my eyes!

We stayed at the All Star Sports Resort. I made a large magnetic sign that said it was our first trip to Disney and we were celebrating Danielle's 10th birthday and Cameron's 7th birthday. Unfortunately, we were not treated to anything special. :-(

<sigh> One of these days I hope to spend my birthday at the park but it seems unlikely. My birthday is on Christmas. The closest will be this year but we leave Orlando on the 23rd. I'd love to celebrate it in the park but I don't like big crowds. Kinda puts Christmas in the park in jeopardy. And geez, it's like the only thing open on Christmas too!! (My birthday dinner is usually at a restaurant on Christmas Eve where the staff are trying to rush us out the door so they can go home early...one year they told us they ran out of dessert!!! aaaaaaagh) :sad2:

ah well....I'll guilt somebody in my family into buying me something expensive in one of the Main Street shops. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear that they do stuff for adults bdays. Jen's bday is in the middle of our next trip and i want it to be really special for her.

Adrienne :wizard:

It was my sons birthday last Sat. and when we went, he got the pin, but being the cool 14 year old that he is, he would not wear it, so I told him I would and then tell people that it was his B-day and not mine.

I went to get a bottle of water at one of the carts and the CM said "oh it is your Birthday....no charge" I told her that it was my sons b-day since he was standing there and she just laughed.

Later we went to the Poly for a drink and he got a free soda there.

I am so thrilled to hear that they celebrate "big" kids birthdays too. My girlfriend and I and our 4 kids are going during her birthday (leaving hubbies at home, their choice) and I really want to make this time special for her, it's been a rought year and she needs some pixie dust this year. Also she's a disney nut and has never been to the "World". I am so excited we could make it happen this year.
