OMG, my husband will kill me if that is why our computer just crashed. We've been having all sorts of problems with it locking up and then on the last time it locked up we couldn't get it back up, I just assumed it was because my kids use that computer too, but this now makes more sense. I guess I will now be much more careful.

Actually the new one is Antivirus 2010...go ask my DH about that one and we have ALL the protection out there. It's a booger to remove and might still be lurking. He is wiping out the computer Friday and starting over.

Make sure you are setting the antispyware setting to do the most thorough sweep you can. the "Antivirus" virus is deep in your registry. Adaware and spyware doctor got rid of it on my parents machine.

And now we've run into "Windows Defender"--lovely porn popups with that one.

I know he did run Adware and Spyware and we thought it was clean...and then when he went to google something it only pulled up the different "websites" for AV 2010. Knowing him he just wants to take everything off and start new. He's done that before when we had something else slip through. I assume that mcaffee is set to it's fullest protecting limit. I'll make sure though

Sometimes the only way to clean it up is to wipe the harddrive...a pain but effective.
