We love Mexican food, but have never dined in Mexico while at Disney. Do they have a good counter service place to eat? Or is there another restaurant there that we should try?
The Mexico counter service is closed for renovations until sometime in September. There is a temporary CS called Taqueria del Lago. It is technically a kiosk with a limited menu, and there is no seating. You can see the menu at http://www.mainstgazette.com/2009/11/taqueria-del-lago.html
Inside the Mexico pavilion there is a table service restaurant (San Angel Inn) and a bar that serves appetizer portions (La Cava del Tequila).
The Refreshment Port near Canada, which used to sell McDonalds food items, now sells Latin-inspired CS selections (not Mexican - more a South American influence)
The sit down restaurant - San Angel Inn - is good and has one of the best atmosphere's in WDW - dim, by the river, Mayan pyramid next door, etc. It is not Tex-Mex but closer to more authentic Mexican, so many Americans who are used to Americanized or TexMex are disappointed by the food, but if you prefer more authentic Mexican you should enjoy it.
