Can anyone suggest a golf course for my hubby to play whilst myself and the children check out the Malls! He has a handicap of 16 and any tips on booking would be appreciated...also if anyone fancies a game we are there from 25th August-8th Sept!!

Go to Edwin watts on I drive or 535 as they have discount books. Orange county national is my fav but can b pricey if hiring clubs. Kissmmee oaks or highland reserve are normally good value and do free club rentals I think.

Sawgrass, but i don't think he will get a round there. once got an invite but as i don't play turned it down

Best courses close to Disney are Orange County National and Celebration. Both of these tend to be around $70 to $100 when i've played them in the past.

Other good courses are Falcon's Fire as previously mentioned, Harmony Preserve(45min drive), Osprey Ridge at Disney. Again these are around the $100 dollar mark to play. Plenty of other good courses to choose from, so difficult to go wrong.

There are great courses all over the Orlando area, Central Florida is one of the highest ranked areas for golf in the whole world. It really depends on where you're staying and where you'll be.

If you were going to the Florida Mall , Shingle creek is a wonderful set up http://www.shinglecreekgolf.com/

On Disney property there are 4 excellent courses . Palm, Magnolia , Eagle Pines and LBV

192 area Celebration , Orange County National and Falcon's fire are excellent. http://www.celebrationgolf.com http://www.ocngolf.com http://falconsfire.com

I4/US 27 intersection (Davenport) area Providence , Southern Dunes and Diamondback are all great courses. http://www.providence-golf.com http://www.southerndunes.com http://diamondbackgc.net

If booking at short notice you can get some good deals from "play standby golf "
http://www.standbygolffl.com click locations on their front page and it will give you Florida info.

The courses tend to be busy, so there's more than a good chance he'll be paired up. It would have to be a quiet course/time of day for him to get a round on his own. :)

It's a bit of a drive! My brother managed to get a round there a few years back.

Everyone raves about Orange County National (which also has a reputation for being good value for money), but I was underwhelmed. Celebration is much more my kind of course. OCC has the feel of a rugged links course, whereas Celebration is of the immaculately manicured variety. :thumbsup2

Great to see you posting here, Jana. :) I'm a bit confused about the connection here, though. Shingle Creek (beautiful course) is at the Rosen Shingle Creek near Pointe Orlando. Not too close to the Florida Mall. :scratchin

Eagle Pines bit the dust to make way for the new Waldorf-Astoria and Hilton Bonnet Creek. Osprey Ridge, the sister course, lives to fight another day, though. And the Waldorf-Astoria boasts a brand spanking new course. :)

The Disney courses are good, but very busy. The courses at Rosen Shingle Creek and the Ritz-Carlton are amongst our favourites, but not cheap. The best of all, IMHO, are those at Reunion.

Aw, poor Vernon! Tell him we're coming out October 2012, so he can get a few rounds in then! Glad to hear the business is busy, though - always a good sign. :)

If he's a good boy, I may let him out for the day LOL :rotfl2: hope to see you soon

It's a bit of a trek, but Diamondback in Haines City is unlike any other course in the area - it's got swamps, crocodiles and a waterfall on the 16th fairway. It's also RIDICULOUSLY cheap.

I've got a soft spot for Disney's LBV, as half the course winds through Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resort.

If you don't want anything too strenuous, Highlands Reserve is dirt cheap and very enjoyable.

If you like bunkers and the most stupidly steep two level green in history, go to Mystic Dunes!
