Hello everyone. Was wondering if anyone had suggestions about what kind of purse/bag is best to carry in the parks.

is either a backpack or one that has a strap that goes across your body to help distribute the weight.

Decide what you need to have with you in the parks - camera, suntan lotion, wetones, phone, water bottle, etc. and then find a bag that fits all your "stuff". You don't want one that is too small or too big or too heavy.

Sorry I don't have any name brands to offer. I usually make my own quilted bags, so I can get exactly what I want.

We use a small baggallini. It has enough room to carry essentials and is small so it's not bulky.

I use a Bagallini. Very light with lots of pockets. As well as the one I have does very well keeping things dry on the water attractions.

Whatever you're comfortable with and comfortably carries what you want. I like backpacks or across body bags.

I would agree with the other posters and say get whatever kind fits all of the stuff you plan to carry. I used to carry a small backpack style purse but i got tired of having to take it off every time i wanted to take something else. I have a small cross-body bag that i carry when i don't have a lot of stuff to carry.

I just bought a sling- style backpack from overland that I can swing around to the front when I want to get something. It's big enough to carry all the stuff i need without being too bulky or heavy. Plus, it's not "girly" so my hubby can carry it too!

Good luck in your search. Try Zappo's or ebags. They have free returns, so if you order a bag and don't like it you can easily return it. I returned 4 bags before I found one I was happy with!

I just got the Vera Bradley hipster and I love it! I can't wait to use it. Last time we used a small backpack that I plan on also bringing. I kind of like the backpack because I can hand it over to my DH without him be embarrassed. But I think I am going to prefer the hipster.

LL Bean's Travel Messenger Bag is a great little purse-type bag for the parks.

This is our first trip, but I bought a LL Bean pocket day pack (can't remember the exact name). I have scoliosis so I need something that distributes weight on both shoulders equally, and we have little kiddos, so I need something that will fit a little more than just the basics of an id and card and such. I read good reviews, so I'm hopeful it will work well. :)

We used this backpack last year and loved it! It's now our "WDW" bag. I wish it had internal organization, but we use travel pouches to keep things organized.

i bought this bag specifically for disney, and i have been using it daily for over a month now (we go to disney in 3 weeks!). i absolutely love it!! i'm a big fan of messenger bags and lots of pockets! i don't want to carry a lot when we're in the park, but i do want to make sure i can fit what i need. this bag isn't big either. sunscreen is a big thing for my delicate skin, so i need a purse that can fit an actual bottle in it (not the travel size ones). i also like that the purse is sturdy and repels water pretty well (it is not water repellant; it just doesn't seem to leak to the inside when it is raining).

OP, I don't know how many are in your party or what time of the year you are going, so this suggestion may not work for you. But I've started going without a bag.

I found some great long cargo shorts with lots of pockets and I carry my phone, a small point and shoot camera, a small hairbrush, tiny bottle of sunscreen, and a few plastic baggies to put the phone and camera in in case of rain or water rides. I also carry a fold up rain poncho if there is any chance it will rain. The CS restaurants will give you a free cup of water upon request, so I don't even need to carry a bottle. But I go in cooler weather in a group of adults. If I went in hot weather or with kids, of course I would need some kind of bag.

Yup this is our plan this year too. Our bags have gotten smaller and smaller each year.
Last visit I wore a fanny type pack ( disney's one of the only places this is ok for a man! LOL just kidding!)

This time pockets and cargo shorts, or pants. I plan on bringing ,
    1. Keys to the word
    2. Iphone
    3. On certain days my HD recorder and spare batteries and SD cards.

If i get thirsty Ill spend the money on water. Im ok with spending extra cash to not have to lug around a ton of crap all day.

It really makes a trip much less enjoyable when you gave to lug around a ton of crap.

I don't know how people take toddlers and babies along and enjoy it. Too much work for something a kid at that age will not remember. IMO

i do this when i go to places like cedar point and six flags where you aren't allowed to take anything on a ride (even a fanny pack!). but when i am allowed a small bag, it makes me so happy because i feel like my pants are going to slide down with all that stuff in the pockets!

Baggallini Messenger or Vera Bradley Hipster. I love both of these bags for the parks.

This is a GREAT thread! I've been wondering the same thing. I have a pink Minnie Messenger bag that I actually bought at Disney a few years ago. I love it..but I need something with pockets. Also, now that we are going in May, waterproof would probably be a good idea. :)
