Besides flying into MCO...

Besides MCO, are there any other easily accessible airports (that are also trustworthy) in the Orlando area? I know there's a Sanford airport, but I'm not sure how big or safe. What other airports are there within an hour's drive of WDW? I see MCO, ORL, SFB ... any others? I know Tampa is "nearby" but still at least an hour - 2 hour drive.

Sanford is fine. Tampa is about an hour away, not anywhere near a 2 hour drive. Daytona is ok, but, then you get into that two hour range(approx.75 mile-1.50 hours). ORL does not have commercial flights per se. http://www.orlandoairports.net/orl/index.htm

There is also Lakeland airport. http://www.lakelandairport.com/

I heard that there are going to be flights from Pittsburgh to Lakeland, which is between Orlando and Tampa.

The airline serving Lakeland has suspended operations.
Melbourne Airport is an hour from Disney but unlikely to find low fares to there. Orlando Sanford is only about 45-minutes from WDW, Tampa just over 1 hour. St. Petersburg/Clearwater is just slightly farther than Tampa.

Many, many people fly into Tampa International when going to WDW. It's a wonderful airport, about 75 mins from WDW.
And Sanford??? Great little airport. I prefer flying in there vs MCO, but sadly, DirectAir is the only airline I could use to do that...and that's not looking like the best possibility lately. Sanford is very safe....and user friendly. It is just a bit under an hour from WDW.

I love the Melbourne airport, but I have never used it to get to Disney. But I used to fly from Melbourne on business a lot and it's a great small airport, but flights were really limited with only a couple of carriers. I'm not sure of its situation now.

Just out of curiosity, what makes an airport "unsafe" or "untrustworthy"?
