Benefits of AP

Can someone tell me the benefits of the AP? We are hoping to go in August for 7 night. Not sure how to save the most money on this trip- this is our first trip to Universal staying on site.

Also, is the Stay More Save More rate better? When do AP rates come out??

Is this better than Explorer pass? I can't find a pass for 7 days anywhere
