Beach Club Concierge vs. Boardwalk Concierge

Hi,

We are planning a trip to an Epcot resort soon. We will stay concierge and can not decide which to stay at. We usually stay in the MK resorts so don't have much personal experience with this area. My mother wants to get as close to Epcot as possible (I am assuming this will be BC), however, if concierge service is better at one than the other she want care as much about proximity to Epcot. We know there isn't much difference anyway.

What do those of you with experience at both recommend. This trip we will not spend as much time in the parks so the hotel atmosphere and concierge lounge and cm's will be our main focus.

Also, what is the difference in types of food offerings at each concierge lounge.

Thank you for all help given.

Myra

The Swan/Dolphin is also an excellent Epcot resort and within walking distance to Epcot or you can take the boat, as well as MGM.

the BWI Concierge is second to none princess:
Check out the Concierge Lovers thread and you will see that those who've stayed at YC CL, BC CL and BWI CL would pick BWI. They share itinerary planners but the lounge and staff at BWI rule!! :cheer2:

I agree about going for BWI. While the concierge experience is lovely at any of the three Disney Epcot resorts (YC/BC/BWI), BWI's lounge is twice the size, prettier decorated IMHO, and has a great view of the Epcot fireworks (no real view from the lounge at BC, for example). The planning staff is great and very friendly. The deluxe hotel rooms are beautifully decorated as well :wizard:

Of the two lounges you've listed, BWI is definitely nicer.

My favorite is YC CL though!

Thank you everyone for responding. It looks like BW is the fave here.

mom _ rules,

I had not considered the YC because it is farther from Epcot. However, it is not totally out of the question. What do you like about it better than the BW?

Thanks,
Myra

I haven't stayed at the BC, but we will try the YC at some point soon. We did BWI a while ago and it was awesome. The staff there were the very best out of all of the resorts we've tried so far.

In addition, the appetizers were delicious. They had Lobster Turnovers, Chicken Wellington and some sort of meatball with a delicious sauce. Their pastries were the best and the other offerings made it tough to leave the lounge.

Their planning staff worked miracles for us. We were caught in a deluge at Epcot and decided to move up our plans for dinner. Of course with the heavy rain EVERYONE had the same idea. We contacted the planning desk and they made resevations for the very nice French restaurant "Chef's De France ". So here we are drenched to the bone like everyone else. We walked in and the hosts greet us like old friends. They were very nice to us, considering how badly we'd been soaked. The wonderful hostess, Maragaritte, escorts us past a VERY LONG LINE upstairs. We could feel the knives in our wet backs as we walked right by them.

We got the best waiter at EPCOT and the best service. I left a 30% tip for the meal (mostly to pay for the water damage. ;) )

So by my experience, you can't go wrong with the BWI concierge.

Ok, here is my opinion. I have stayed at the YC, BC and BW concierge and nothing compares to the BW. The preplanning staff is the best on property and the cast at the Innkeeper's Club is just awesome!! The lounge is welcoming and roomy, the food offerings are great and the service is second to none. My family has become very close to the cast there and we feel so at home when we return.

Also the boat dock is a lot closer than the BC's.You are the last one picked up for Epcot and the first off on the return trip.

Ok, thank you everyone for all of your replies. It looks like the Boardwalk wins hands down. We will go there. You have all been a wonderful help.

CaipiraBob,

Thank you for giving me examples of food offerings that are at the Boardwalk. It sounds delicious.

The distance from YC and BWI to Epcot is about the same. I like the YC resort over the BWI because I find the other things at BWI are too spread out. At YC their fabulous "waterpark" pool is right there, the BWI you have to go across the BW and it's tucked in behind the BWV. The preplanning staff is the same for YC, BC and BWI. I agree, the staff in the BWI CL are awesome and the lounge is bigger. I loved the food offerings at YC (most came from the Yachtsman-my fav restaurant anyway. The staff at YC was great and extremely friendly and accomodating as well. They seem to change over more than the staff at the BWI CL.

and the Itinerary Planning Team for both is the same and AWESOME! BUT...
we do strongly prefer the BWI CL for every reason imaginable!

I have to agree with the post above Mom Rules. We much prefer the YC to BWI. While the they share the same planning staff BWI made some very disappointing mistakes with our itn. The lounge at the BWI is nicer but since I dont spend that much time there it doesnt matter that much to us. Pool is too far away and can not compare to the stormalong bay pool. Our room Location at the BWI was bad. Very long walk from lounge and over looked service entrance of ESPN club. (noisey lots of trucks in the morning and people out there smokeing on breaks at night) Balconey so small difficult to sit on. Besides mistakes with our itn planning I had made arrangements for gifts I had paid for through the concierge to be waiting when we got there for my kids and nothing was there. The second day we were walking by thet the desk and Cm stops me and hands me a bag with the gift. I said this was supposed to be a surprise yesterday in the room and Cm said well here it is now.I had never had this problem with any other Concierge at Disney ( we have done BC, YC, Poly, and AKL. Not really that great of stay and no magic. I am envious when I read other peoples reviews.
